  1. When's the last time Nebraska best a top 10 team? Where's the last time when unranked?
  2. I talked with Steve Taylor at our Farm Bureau Tailgate before the Spring Game. I'm 5'8" and he was at least 2" taller than me.
  3. Actually 11 for Nebraska by this measure... 1. 1970 AP, Billingsley, DeVold, Dunkel, FACT*, FB News, Football Research, FW, Helms, National Championship Foundation, Sagarin (ELO-Chess)* 2. 1971 AP, Berryman, Billingsley, DeVold, Dunkel, FACT, FB News, Football Research, FW, Helms, Litkenhous, Matthews, National Championship Foundation, NFF, Poling, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELO-Chess), UPI 3. 1980 FACT* 4. 1981 National Championship Foundation* 5. 1982 Berryman 6. 1983 Berryman, DeVold, FACT*, Litkenhous, Matthews, Poling, Sagarin* 7. 1984 Litkenhous 8. 1993 National Championship Foundation* 9. 1994 Alderson, AP, Berryman, Billingsley, FACT*, FB News, FW, National Championship Foundation*, Sagarin (ELO-Chess)*, Sporting News, UPI, USA/CNN, USA/NFF 10. 1995 Alderson, AP, Berryman, Billingsley, DeVold, Dunkel, Eck, FACT, FB News, FW, Matthews, National Championship Foundation, NFF, NY Times, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELO-Chess), Sporting News, UPI, USA/CNN 11. 1997 Alderson, Berryman, Billingsley MOV, DeVold, Dunkel, Eck, FACT, Matthews, National Championship Foundation*, NY Times, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELO-Chess), Seattle Times, USA/ESPN
  4. Possible wins: Rutgers, Illinois, Northwestern Likely losses: Wisconsin, Ohio State, Purdue, Minnesota, Penn State, Iowa
  5. When I saw Texas go up 7-0 I decided to go out and mow. Just got done and saw the score. I was flooded with emotion like if Nebraska was up big against a top B1G team. I started pondering why, after all these years I still despise UT. I know t there's all the voting Nebraska lost 1-11 when the Big 12 was formed. The 1 seconds back on the clock. The constantly over rated, constantly losing, and with all the great recruits in their backyard. Why, after all these years, is my second favorite team each week whoever is playing Texas? I know I'm not alone in this feeling, but is it still warranted after all these years? My feelings towards Texas and my rationale for dislike may not be matching up anymore. Anyone want to remind me why I sell feel this way towards UT?
  6. Thinking of getting rid of cable and just using Hulu and Netflix, but we've kept cable specifically for Husker Football. I've tried the likes of justin.tv, but it's not a reliable feed and you know we can't run the risk of missing any plays. My question for all of you crazy Husker fans like us... Is there a service or site you go with, outside of cable tv, that is reliable where you don't have to worry about missing a game? (Please move if there is an appropriate place for this feed) Thank you all in advance! GBR!
  7. Did any of you see Darlington's post spring game presser? He got me excited with his excitement. He loves the game and everything about the university. I know he could light a fire under his teammates in the huddle. Here it is (not premium info) http://nebraska.scout.com/story/1536794-nebraska-spring-post-zack-darlington This is added to his performance in the spring game. He's definitely a natural leader. I know the backup quarterback is generally a fan favorite lol but I'm on that wagon! GBR!!!
  8. Probably quite a few along with lurker members who have been motivated to post recently who were content just reading posts in the past.
  9. I thought this was an interesting way of doing it, so I had my wife make the "key" My top 25 based on current wins and losses. Based on the current CFPC rankings. Example: Miss St is team y and Florida St is team S. 1. Miss St 2. Florida St 3. Auburn 4. Michigan St 5. Kansas St 6. Oregon 7. TCU 8. Clemson 8. Notre Dame 10. Alabama 11. Nebraska 12. Baylor 13. Arizona St 14. LSU 15. Ole Miss 16. Oklahoma 17. UCLA 18. West Virginia 19. Arizona 20. Duke 20. Georgia 20. Ohio St 23. Utah 24. East Carolina 25. Louisville Note: bottom of top 25 will change as I only ranked the 25 teams in the current top 25.
  10. Do the computers do a preseason poll?
  11. Very good points. When you're already projected that high it's a risk to stay. Would ameer have stayed if he were projected top 5 last year? I know his degree is important to him and his family, but his projections were not nearly as good last year as Gregory's this year. Point being Gregory has pretty much hit the draft stock peak, so another year is more risk (injury) than reward (money).
  12. What are the chances Gregory stays in Lincoln next year? I've seen him projected as high as the 2nd pick in the draft. Will injuries play a part in his decision as well? I don't think he'll decide to return for his senior season based on his current draft projections and injuries may only make him leave as well realizing another year may hurt his draft stock with risk of further injuries before getting to the next level. Any chance he stays though?
  13. Should arguably nebraskas most talented player ever have been able to play in a national championship? LP. Just an example. But to answer your question... Yes it apparently is. I.e. War. Which is a perfect example as people are killing to win said war. Just sayin
  14. Have you watched a nebraska game and saw a call against the other team go our way when it shouldn't have? I have. Were you upset that the wrong call was made in our favor and helped us? I wasn't. I believe my words at moments like that are something to the affect of, "bad call, but I'll take it." To me it's the same. I understand the flip side. Once your integrity is gone it can never be there again. It's unfortunate that integrity doesn't put hardware in the trophy case and I wish that it were possible to win championships the right way... With integrity, but is it really possible anymore?
  15. I completely understand your response and until recent I felt the same way. BUT Is it worth being one of very few schools with integrity to never even come close to a national championship again? Is it cheating if it's the norm? Does it really go against the school's integrity? Or is it just not evolving with the unfortunate realities of college football's evolution?
  16. I think Bo did take the high road and I believe Nebraska as a whole generally does. I always was proud of this for a long time, but as time goes by with our 9 win seasons I'm starting to wonder if it would be worth the risk to play dirty and cheat. Is it cheating if most other schools do it? Or is it the unfortunate evolution of college football? It's starting to appear to me that by not joining the majority nebraska is doing itself a disserverice by taking higher ground. I'm ready to win again and as I look at the successful teams over the last decade... Who doesn't cheat? I might catch flack for saying all this and it's well deserved. I understand it's not the right way, but I'm to a point where I think the saying, "if you can't beat em join em" says it best. I want to win and be relative again. Sanctions don't seem to hurt schools enough to be a deterrent anyway. Again I wish it wasn't this way but it's the evolution of the game. Players are paid in many ways across the country monetarily and in other forms. I'm ready to see nebraska win again at all costs.
  17. We definitely will be young on defense. I guess I hadn't put together that ALL of our starters on offense will be upper classmen. 8 starters to graduate after this coming season. I know we have a lot of talent coming in to be excited about on offense, but I just hope we don't flip flop again. We had the Championship caliber defense at the beginning of Bo's era and an offense that was lacking. Recent seasons we've had a good offense with a lacking defense. Hoping we don't flop back the other way... as this defense grows the offense starts dropping off again.
  18. I couldn't find this posted anywhere else, so if it is kindly direct me and delete. I am mostly curious of how young the defense will be? I keep hearing about the young players on defense and realize they lost a lot of starters on the defense, but who will possibly/likely start at each position? Would like to see guesses on projected starting lineups on both sides of the ball. Also Bo talked about getting the best 11 on the field for special teams this year, so who might start there?
  19. since he's proven so much as Husker thus far... Pretty sure I heard Bo say that he was one of the wr's that was stepping in and making an early impression on him during one of the Nebraska On Demand interviews, so onlyHskrfaninIL might actually be on to something there. I would say putting Westerkamp in Jamal's second spot makes more sense than having one guy in two spots on the two deep. I would also say that from that interview Westerkamp is a highly likely candidate for that spot.
  20. Well according to most on this board "Economic factors" has nothing to do with it. your just a "bandwagon fan" if you don't pony up and spend the money. ok we've heard "its 50 miles to Lincoln from Omaha" that's about $12.00 in gas, and $10.00 to get in- sweet-screamin jesus the unemployment rate in Nebraska is one of the lowest in the nation- you people can't spend $22.00? this is NOT an economic issue I guess your right, only NE fans live in NE?????????? I guess I'm having trouble identifying your point?- just for kicks let's say that in any past spring game there are about 5k "fans" that travel over 250 miles, since we know that 2010 & 2011 were worse years economically than this year- my point was pretty simple and can be summed up by asking this question, "why aren't they going to show this year?" The same question needs to be asked about those who live within $22.00 worth of expenses (the majority of the states' population) in a state which economically is better off than over 40 other states. I'd have to conclude we have a lot of people who call themselves fans ,in and outside Nebraska, but aren't willing to drop the money that would buy a large pizza in most cases, or have the stones to tell their fat little girlfriends they have to stay home,. Instead they use every excuse they can dream up not to go, other than that they themselves aren't willing to be real fans and support the team this spring by going to the game- They will however be the first ones to bitch and complain about not getting enough "5" star recruits, even though the spring game is one of the biggest days for trying to impress recruit prospects Maybe it is an economic issue for some... I have to work "game day." Last year I was unable to attend because I was laid off from my job and couldn't afford the $22 to go. Are we really going to start judging who the "real fans" are? Seriously? Guess because I'm not going to the spring game I'm not a true fan and I'll be bitching about not getting enough 5 star recruits. Guess I'll have to watch it on tv and to top it off I'll have to watch it with all the other bandwagon fans.
  21. I noticed this too. I then started thinking how I don't think I've seen Rex running plays in any of the Nebraska On Demand videos I've watched. I thought of it was strange because last year they showed clips of him more often as he's kind of the face of our program right now.
  22. I have been one with the rose colored glasses each of Bo's offseasons, but I'll agree with a couple other posters that this spring feels different. Maybe it's Bo being more open and honest with the media or maybe it's the whole accountability theme. I'm not real crazy about players like Martinez yelling from the mountaintop, "National Championship; National Championship," but at the same time I do appreciate the confidence. Double edge sword I fear with those expectations... When we are down will we collapse again with those high expectations? I hope not... Accountability wouldn't allow it, or would it? It seems as though the team is more of just that, a team. I think the coming season looks promising and I'm drinking the koolaid, but maybe for a CCG appearance with a possible Rose Bowl appearance rather than "National Championship; National Championship!"
