  1. Ha. Just like every single one of your posts. Yeah, all 6,784 of them spanning 8 years. I can't even know what that was supposed to mean. A flailing attempt at smack? Either try harder, or pack it in. Anyways.... Back to. The topic, and a good one by zoogies:)
  2. Guess this wasn't a permanent change.
  3. I sure hope you are right zoogies, but I am not sure it will go down like that. Perhaps I am a bit jaded, but over the past 10 years there are countless times when Nebraska was playing what appeared to be a wounded opponent, and clearly had the upper hand. This feels all too familiar.
  4. JTrain probably doesn't need any more +1's to make the point, but man, that was good.
  5. Pretty early in the season and he is already making an impact. I'd have to say the answer is fairly obvious, that no, he shouldn't have redshirted. If he can make an impact immediately, get him on the field.
  6. In this case, Rex runs a mean zone read. We also have guys like maybe Jamal Turner who are perhaps less explosive runners than Taylor, but more dynamic. They bring a different kind of threat with their running style. Rex is a special player, and a different story altogether. I interpreted the op's opening question as who was the next rb who can be the wildcat qb. I agree turner is a dynamic runner, but not sure how much is gained by plugging him in there.
  7. If this kid can continue to develop, it looks like UCLA has a gem.
  8. Has this switch to 3-4 been confirmed anywhere yet? Seeing lots of chatter but have not seen anything confirm this.
  9. Bo didn't get stupid overnight. Why are the players looking lost all of a sudden?
  10. When you have a qb like taylor to run the ball, what is the advantage in having a rb taking snaps?
  11. Funny, because that's what he did first and foremost. Saying it and doing it are mutually exclusive. I refer to Addison Mode's post, who very eloquently relayed some of my concerns, and why I think you can only use the "we didn't execute" excuse so many times. Nebraska is 6-5 in their last 11 games, and in those 5 losses, the common thread was horrible defense, followed by the same post-game jargon.
  12. Nowhere in that article did it say "it's my fault."
  13. Said the EXACT same thing when I started reading the first few posts of this thread. 30 points should win almost every game.
  14. I apologize if this has been hashed and rehashed, but I do not see discussed anywhere. Just as with Callahan, I am beginning to tire of Pelini stating "we didn't execute" after losses. I remember Callahan was nearly lynched for this crap, but I don't really see Pelini get called out for doing this. I am not calling for anyone's blood here, but just an observation I had. As a leader you cannot continually blame your team for failure to execute without having to look in the mirror and eventually "point the thumb." At some point their lack of execution, is a reflection in coaching, development and communication. Perhaps I am drawing a comparison that is not there, but after listening to some snippets from the post game press conference, I felt like I was having déjà vu. I do however feel that Pelini is not beyond hope as Callahan was, but feel that how he rallies this team will show what kind of leader he really is. Thoughts?
  15. Huh? Not at all. I defended his comments last year from the stand point of them being correct. (never liked him as a hire) Wrong way to get it out ie to the media, but hind sight being 20/20 the guy was spot on. We always say "we don't see what the coaches see" and here is/was a guy that was a coach and made the comments. It probably hastened him to LSU, but it was glaring last night that roughly 66% of our D stunk and he saw a glaring lack of talent. I give the DB's a pass last night. They played well under the circumstances IMO. I agree with you, and as Igetbored216 said above, the problem is more with the front 7. I'm almost to the point where I'd like to see this line-up: ---------- Ankrah--------- Meredith ---------- Caveman ------------- Green-------------------------------------------------------Evans----------------Jean-Baptiste ---------Cooper -------- PJ Smith --------- Compton ----------- H. Jackson -------------------------------- Stafford--------------------------------- I'm not huge on the 3-4, but we don't have the LB/DL talent right now and we have lots of depth in the secondary. You think they suck against the rush now, wait till you see that line up. That is a 3-4 with 3 DBS. That is more like a 3-1-7. I really don't see how putting less size on the field makes you better at tackling. May get faster, but teams with decent line play will gash that alignment. I do think getting some new blood in the mix will help though.
  16. TN-Martin was mentioned. If that doesn't happen, don't be surprised to see a North or South Dakota team.
  17. He definitely struggles at times. I think he has played well at certain times this year also. It happens, he has one more game to try and quiet some critics.
  18. Good discussion guys, but let's eliminate the verbal slap fights please. Great post by Caveman about recruiting stats, way to solidly back up your point with stats.
  19. Great find, and impressive to say the least. No doubt that Bo has done a good job, but his legacy will be cemented by what he does next. If he is able to get this program back to 11-12 win seasons, conference championships and being in the national title picture, he will go down as a legend. He is not quite there, but could be ready to grab that next rung on the ladder.
  20. Congrats to Gilmore, but I have questions about his methodology. There is no way that 2 receivers that he had for 5 years should get that long of looks by the NFL and they never saw the field here (Will Henry and Chris Brooks). Something about that doesn't quite add up.
  21. Montee Ball is a stud. Rex Burkhead is a stud. I think neither of these 2 is the best running back in the nation. If LaMichael James was healthy all season, James would have gone to New York instead of Ball, even with all those TD's. It could also be argued that there are 4 or 5 better than each of them. Just did a quick search on rushing stats and NU played 6 of the top 30 rushers this year. Wow.
  22. If Pelini stays in the 8-4/10-2 range, he will never get fired here. That mistake was made once, and I don't think it will ever be made again. It will be a little disappointing to not get back to National Title level, but the coach will never get fired for keeping things in this range. I still think we need to strive for titles, but firing 9-3 coaches will most likely not happen again, provided the coach is representing the state and University well, and the program is otherwise clean.
  23. The NFL is becoming more and more passing oriented, so LaVonte being "undersized" at 225 lbs will not be much of an issue since wherever he goes, he will be asked to drop into coverage a great deal. Whatever team he lands with, his size will not be an issue and they will be thrilled with the athlete they get. I think the 4th Round grade may not be far off though. NFL scouts fall in love with height/weight/speed combos, and an LB who is 6'4" 250 that runs a 4.5 is usually going to be perceived to have more potential than David. Not saying that is right or that Kiper/Mcshay are right, but scouts/GM's fall in love with potential as opposed to observed production.
  24. Wow, 11 drops and 20 catches. That's just, wow.
  25. In all fairness, I am sure that oxygen deprivation could be construed as an "injury" when these guys are sucking wind so bad. This is a disgusting trend in football and is completely against the spirit of competition.
