  1. If you want to compare these two players, I think it is pertinent to look at the 2008 stats as well. Suh: 76 Tackles 39 Solo 7 Sacks 2 Interceptions McCoy: 26 Tackles 13 Solo 6 Sacks 1 Interception but more importantly, Suh is 1 year older and his Junior statistics still murder McCoy's Junior statistics by a fair margin. And the offense argument is not as strong. Another note: look at the conditioning relating to McCoy and Suh, and you will come to the conclusion that if McCoy was forced to play more minutes, his production would probably have dropped considerably. I think the upside has to be a plus for McCoy since he is younger and may have untapped potential in terms of strength and speed, but the risk of bust is also much higher. All told, I'd still take Suh as a more proven commodity.
  2. Didn't we recruit him before?
  3. ESPN claims we're in the final 5
  4. Brett Maher from the Husker Football team...?
  5. Basically what you are saying is, would we be content if Bo were like Frank Beamer.... I'm fairly certain that any coach with those kinds of winning records who has a reputation for graduating fine young men is more than a University could ask for. I think that if you want to understand the record and what it means to the fanbase though, it entirely depends on how our opponents are faring. Say we were 10-4 and the Big 12 was about how it is this year for the next 20 years, sure we would expect 9-10 wins. Say the Big 12 programs had an upswing, went about 10-3 against SEC competition, won 4 straight titles as a conference and produced 6-7 solid teams. The occasional 7-6 record in this kind of environment is definitely tolerable. In a conference like the ACC though, we expect +1 or +2 games over in a conference like the SEC.
  6. I'd definitely take Cotton. About 10 times the chance that he'll see the field as opposed to Marsh. Marsh battles against 3-4 players consistently for the QB spot or tries to play in a defensive position that the coaches obviously target with top talent in their recruiting. Cotton can't be much worse than the line we've been putting together recently.
  7. Baker couldn't probably have played OL this year after his medical condition caused him to lose so much weight. He may just be getting back up to playing size for OL.
  8. There are two questions here, the first I think Asante is the biggest to fill, but then again the hardest to replace based on our roster is obviously Dillard. I haven't liked a LB as much as Dillard since Polk.
  9. I watch football for the excitement. Regardless of the outcome at the end of the year, if it was a fun ride it was worth it. I'd rather get pumped up for 6 huge games a year than 1 or 2.
  10. Sweet mother of god, this is going to be fun to watch if BSU gets added to the slate By OWH "NU currently has nonconference games scheduled for 2015 with Southern Mississippi (home) and Miami (away); for 2016 with Fresno State, Tennessee and Wyoming (all home); and for 2017 with Tennessee (away)." We could get Fresno, Tennessee, Wyoming and Boise for Non-con in one year. That'll be one of the 5 hardest schedules that year for sure if Tennessee can rebound. Miami, Southern Miss and Boise wouldn't be a cakewalk Sunbelt stretch either.
  11. Didn't state it was a rumor, just that news of him telling The Ticket this was posted in the Rumors section. I'm fairly certain it's an ESPN affiliate so it's a credible source.
  12. In the Rumors section on ESPN Insider it says that starting in 2015, T.O. told The Ticket that he has offered a 2-for-1 to Boise State.
  13. This year marked the first ever victory by Nebraska over the University of Arizona in football. Next up: Arkansas Duke Georgia Tech Houston Mississippi Ohio State Purdue USC and Stanford
  14. Cotton's prior time spent here may allow him to appeal to the NCAA, but he still would only get 50% of tuition for one of his sons unless his wife is working for the U. Regardless, I think he'll turn out to be a good player.
  15. I believe you may be talking about: 28 Shaun Prater 5-11/172 DB SO Omaha, NE (Central) 33 Jeff Tarpinian 6-3/233 LB JR Omaha, NE (Millard North HS) ..from Iowa and: 72 Kyle Dooley 6-3 315 OG SO Papillion, Neb. La Vista High School (how they had it listed) from TCU. It appears these are all from the Callahan era or perhaps casualties of the coaching change. I would say Bo has done a far superior job of locking down instate prospects. Anybody have any insight as to why we lost these guys as far as specific reasons? You can do a forum search on the names and learn that some didn't garner offers from Callahan. One poster stated that Callahan and Solich often snubbed players from Millard North. I didn't bother to look up Dooley and Prater but I'm sure anyone could.
  16. No. Not at NU, and it would violate NCAA rules to boot. See here: http://www.huskerboard.com/forums/index.ph...st&p=519127 and here: http://www.huskerboard.com/forums/index.ph...st&p=548866 Anyway Cotton looks like he'll grow into an OT anyway. They get a half-ride per parent Eligibility for Dependent Scholarship Program All regular full-time (1.00 F.T.E.) employees of the University who meet the employment eligibility requirements of the Employee Scholarship Program may transfer up to a total of fifteen (15) credit hours per year (August through July) to their spouse or to any dependent child at tuition equal to the University's resident tuition charge per semester credit hour at the campus of attendance. That is 5 normal classes (or 4 with some Lab classes) and does not cover room/board, books and fees. In general if both parents work for the university you can expect to pay around 1,000 in fees each year you go to school. Trust me on this, my father is an administrator for the university.

  18. Really? You think Jake Cotton is the reason the staff MAY not take his commitment? It is about numbers by position. If the staff sees Harold as a TE or DE prospect like everyone thinks, then NU is full. Chase Harper at TE and a multitude of DE prospects have already given verbals. This has nothing to do with Jake. maybe im not understanding your point. but to me, your helping my point. if we don't offer a scholarship to Jake Cotton, who is a DE prospect, we have a scholarship open for Harold Mobley, a TE/DE prospect. how does my comment not make sense? i'm saying if we left a spot open at DE rather than give it away to a kid that probably walks on anyways, Mobley is ours. he's a good prospect and a team outside the top 25 in recruiting should not be passing up on him. Outside the top 25 in star ranking? Really? You need to be looking at the team average of stars, not the total number. NU has a small class, 3-8 players smaller then most teams this year. NU is currently 16th I think in average star ranking at 3.22 per player. It is quality that this staff wants, not quantity, like the last staff tried to do, when they signed the "number 1" class in 2005, they had 31 kids or something like that. It's a numbers game every year. We knew from the start of the year that the 2010 class would be a relatively small one, though it's even bigger than we expected. It's all about quality. Plus, I trust this staff's evaluation abilities over Rivals' or Scout's any day. Maybe Burkes is a result of the Mobley issue.
  19. If we win our big 3 (Washington, Okie State, Texas) we will be on solid footing to be undefeated going into postseason play. This is a possibility, and the possibility is what people are excited about, not that it is probable.
  20. Exactly. You would pretty much have the best Defensive Line in the league if you brought in Suh. Roll him up alongside Carricker and Long and you can't help but wonder what kind of havoc they wreak. I'm sure Carricker will come back from his shoulder surgery, he's got too much work ethic not to. He was in working out in the Rams facilities before many top draft picks signed their papers. Throw Suh in at nose, slide Long and Carricker in beside him. They would run at your 4th down lineman almost exclusively. Seriously, Suh makes Dorsey and Sapp look pretty pathetic in terms of their football IQ. Suh also has the moves to rival these types of players on top of that. Hell, I'd trade Carricker and Long just for Suh if I were in that position.
  21. Bo doesn't like waffles, he hates their syrupy goodness and so he wants you to be sure. I'd say it's better for him to wait it out then commit, waffle and have Bo kick him to the curb when he visits elsewhere.
  22. True, but he'd be a very sound backup at the other position in case the other guy got hurt or strained a leg, or just had a terrible day. That's worth something. They want dual-purpose kickers because it frees up a slot on their roster
