  1. Yes I believe that is exactly right in high school. He was at Nebraska for two years, I believe.
  2. There is no way that two non BCS schools make it into these games. If TCU wins out, they are in and Boise is out. They will pass Boise, especially after how they performed yesterday. If you really think an 11-2 Nebraska team that has potential losses to two teams in the BCS that are conference champions wouldn't make it as at-large, in a down economy, you are crazy. Come on people, the Big East is only getting they're champion in. Even if Cincy goes undefeated they won't even make the NC game. SEC is getting two hands down. Pac-10 is getting 1 USC's year isn't helping them. ACC one unless Miami keeps winning. An 11 win Big 12 team, regardless of who, is making an at-large bid. Nebraska's fan base just makes it even easier of a selection. You have Big 12 Champ, SEC Champ, Big East Champ, ACC Champ, Pac 10 Champ, Big 10 Champ, non-BCS at large, SEC at-large, ACC at large, Big 12 at-large. That is how it will play out. Does every year. Unless you somehow believe ND is going to make the top 8 or top 14 with 9 wins. I can't see that happening. If we win out to the CCG, no doubt we are in the BCS.
  3. No, he absolutely should not. He also shouldn't have, up to this point, taken carries away from Rex Burkhead. Love how we think because we hear it that we know more than the guys in practice every day. I bet Bo is purposely not allowing the talent to play so we can lose games........
  4. Much like the Energizer bunny this ignore list just keeps growing and growing and growing
  5. Why are all those Colorado players on the field against Tech???? j/k
  6. I would add the aspect or the non-existent running game for TT. The comment about Tech using short routes and allowing the receivers to make plays is spot on. They have to run the ball every now and then or the DL is going to be able to box in the QB. When they do run the ball, if you hold them to no gain or perhaps a loss, it eats up an down. It also makes a 2nd and 14 a lot harder to get if keep people in front of you. A great DL that puts this offense in 2nd and long is the answer to defeating Tech. This game is won defensively on 1st and 2nd down.
  7. Exactly right, it actually was compounded when he came to GB because of the cold. The Pack got him new elbow pads and five straight Pro Bowl seasons followed. He was widely considered the best RB in the league not named Marshall Faulk. Wish he wouldn't have went to Houston, he was like 67 yards from being the all-time leading rusher in Packer history. Would have put my all-time favorite Husker on the Ring of Honor around historic Lambeau Field. That would have been incredibly awesome! GO PACK GO!
  8. um..........Michael Crabtree, Graham Harrell........that is all.
  9. Carter didn't play against New Mexico is something that I didn't know but still Carter isn't the whole offense and I don't see a problem for anybody like Suh, Crick, Allen, or Turner to get to the QB the way that New Mexico did. We had 3 starting OL out for NM. All should be back on Saturday. Prepare to meet the Great Wall of Lubbock. Great Wall, meet Suh the Bulldozer.....Bulldozer meet Great Wall. Okay Bulldozer, do what you do to walls........... In all seriousness, I truly hope they try to block Suh one on one. Good lord that will be fun to watch. 10 bucks says they change that gameplan after about 3 series when Suh blows up every run play 3 yards deep in the backfield. I think that is the big difference in this game. TT throws 7 yard pass plays and tries to eat up yardage that way. If you get that running play 3-4 yards in the backfield all of the sudden they aren't running their offense like they want to. When TT loses, it is because they face a superior defensive line. Texas, OU, etc. all have great DL. None of those, IMHO, are better then Nebraska right now. This is clearly skewed by Suh, but I digress.
  10. Here's a good one...... Career stats-Gerald McCoy 55 tackles 10 sacks 1 Int Career stats-Ndamukong Suh 162 tackles 14 sacks 4 Int Not even close, now look at this: Ndamukong Suh last year only 76 tackles 7 sacks 2 Int Suh's season last year is better than McCoy's complete career This guy is either stirring the pot, or an idiot. Either way it means I don't like him.
  11. I don't think you will find anybody around here that doesn't think we can't win every game on our schedule. Our point is, until we at least are competitive for or win a B12 title and are in a BCS game, we aren't back. This is Nebraska. It takes a little more than a win over a barely top 25 team to bring us back to where we were. Not that I wasn't happy about the win, I wanted it a lot and thought it was important. The thing is when we fell, as you know, we fell a really long way. It just simply takes longer to climb when you have to go that much higher than most programs do. As said before; when people just know we are a force and stop asking if we're back, then we're back.
  12. I am truly bi-polar about this game. It's a huge game for Georgia Tech, it's a home game for them, and they've added a number of wrinkles in their offense (which, IMO, we were able to shutdown last year). On the flip side, their defense is dreadful, and I think Bud Foster is one of the best X's & O's guys when it comes to game planning AND in-game adjustments. It's going to be a chess match of adjustments between Paul Johnson & Bud Foster. I like what I'm hearing from our coaching staff, tho. They've changed up their preparations this week to spend more time against the scout team at full speed to get better prepared for GT's offensive speed. Also, even though we're a fast defense, we're not a wrecklessly fast defense (ie: a FSU defense ... which isn't even that fast this year). Foster's scheme is all about discipline, so I think we're as good a match-up as any against Georgia Tech's offense. I'll take Foster as an gameday coach (ie: he knows how to adjust to the opponent in-game) any day, so I think the first 10 minutes of the game is going to set the tone of this one. If we can get out of the first quarter with a lead, or a close ball game, I'll feel pretty good about it. If we go into the 2nd quarter down by more 10 or more ... I'm going to be sweating bullets. Ya, I feel the same way. Even though you might not be that fast, you still are the premier defense (and team) in the ACC. I love Bud Foster and the Lunch Pail Defense. I personally feel Pelini and he are the two best defensive minds in the game. Stoops and Carroll are a little out of the play calling now, so I don't include them in this. Again, good luck this weekend.
  13. That's the most concise answer that I've heard on this matter--worthy of being in a signature line. wow, i agree. Post of the century (well at least since 2001)
  14. I am rooting for VT this weekend, but I am curious to see that option offense against a fast defense. What are your feelings on this?
  15. Wow! How the hell did I miss that one? I looked at every thread on the first page, I thought..... Mods please delete.
  16. as heard on 1620....... COLUMBIA, Mo. - Now, it finally can be said: Nebraska is back. Nebraska coach Bo Pelini looks on in the fourth quarter, when his Huskers overcame a 12-0 deficit to beat Missouri 27-12. The comeback was completed Thursday night. It's the night the old Nebraska died during a 27-12 come-from-behind victory over Missouri. There's no way Bill Callahan's Nebraska teams come back from a 12-0, fourth-quarter deficit to win. Could Frank Solich's Nebraska squads have done it? No. But these are Bo Pelini's Huskers. The offense was sputtering, the special teams were struggling, yet Nebraska stayed focused and didn't fold on a rainy night it had every right to. "We talked about it at halftime," Pelini says. "We said before we walked out there on the field in the second half, we said, 'We will not walk out of here without a win.' And you know, we just kept fighting. "You can get down in situations like that, when things aren't going your way, and it's pretty easy to feel sorry for yourself and let the game get away from you. We never let the game get away from us and we gave ourselves an opportunity to make a couple plays, and we came out with a win." Are the Huskers national title contenders? No way. Is Nebraska capable of toppling, say, Texas in the Big 12 title game? Probably not. But this certainly looks like the best team in the Big 12 North. True, winning the Big 12 North has little, if any, cachet. The North winner hasn't won the Big 12 title game since 2003. But it's still a needed step for a program that hasn't won the Big 12 since 1999 and hasn't played in the league title game since 2006. "It feels great; it's a great start to Big 12 play," defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh says. "It's one of those [games] that means a little more to us. We want to dominate the Big 12 North and start it off the right way. It was not exactly the way we wanted to win, but I'll take it." Nebraska (4-1) is just a fourth-quarter meltdown at Virginia Tech away from being 5-0. The Huskers have a favorable schedule, and there's a chance they will be favored in each of their remaining games. The toughest tests will come on back-to-back Saturdays in November, when the Huskers host Oklahoma on Nov. 7 and travel to Kansas on Nov. 14. But Pelini won't dare peek past this week's home game against Texas Tech. And he is hesitant to call the Missouri win any kind of benchmark victory. "I don't get into all of that," he says. "This game, it's just like I said: It's just part of the process, part of where we are. We're not going to address or handle this win any different than we do any other week. It's on to the next game. We'll enjoy it and then we'll get back to work, fix a lot of things that need to be fixed." Pelini knows there is room for improvement. The offense remains a work in progress against good defenses, and the back seven on defense isn't overly athletic -- though it has been effective enough for this to be the No. 3 defense in the Big 12 (273.4 yards per game). Still, more than anything, the swagger is tangible. Fueling even more excitement is that next season is when the program should really blossom. Most of this season's starters will be back, including quarterback Zac Lee, running back Roy Helu and tight end Mike McNeill on offense and end Pierre Allen, linebacker Will Compton and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard on defense. That makes the early success of this season that much sweeter. There was no such optimism when Pelini waded into Lincoln after the 2007 season amid the wreckage left by Callahan, who had promised to change the culture of Nebraska but only disenfranchised the fan base and sullied the program's reputation by going 27-22 in four seasons. Last season, Nebraska won six of its last seven games to finish 9-4, capping an overachieving season with a Gator Bowl win over Clemson. Now, greater possibilities loom for a team that has won 10 of its past 12 games. The Missouri victory was an important on-field accomplishment, and it also was symbolic. Nebraska beat the team that had won the past two Big 12 North titles. That had to stop -- and it did. Credit for the victory goes to Nebraska's defense, which time and again stuffed Missouri behind the play of Suh. There were 26 NFL scouts peering at the player whose name and helmet are emblazoned on the Kenworth semi that carries the Huskers' gear to road games. And Suh dominated with six tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and interception despite facing constant double-teams. Suh, who played high school football in Oregon, might be the best defensive player in the nation. "Suh played his you-know-what off," Pelini says. Victories over Missouri didn't used to be reasons to celebrate in Lincoln. There was a time when the Huskers dominated Mizzou, winning 24 meetings in a row. But Nebraska had lost four of the past six to Missouri. And last season was rock bottom: The Tigers won 52-17 in Lincoln, Nebraska's worst home loss since 1955. After that humiliating loss, Pelini gathered his staff to talk about what was and wasn't working. It proved to be a turning point, just like Thursday's victory over Missouri. "It just shows our character, how we could pull through at the end," Nebraska kicker Alex Henery says. "Even though we weren't playing very well early on, it showed in the end. We came out with the win." Tom Dienhart is the national senior writer for Rivals.com. He can be reached at dienhart@yahoo-inc.com. EDIT: deleted the Mizzou part
  17. AM 1620 in Omaha. On a clear day you can hear them in Lincoln. or the live stream at the Zone online
  18. USC is not hurting for ratings, I doubt this. They are the #1 show in Omaha, have been for years. Mike'l and Kevin are normally easy to gauge when they are being serious. I thought they sounded serious. However I checked every board I know for Nebraska and I can't find anything. Nothing on H'Pedia, HI/Rivals or here. I don't know what they are talking about. Actually they have the number 1 and best sports show in eastern, NE (all of Nebraska). They don't need to start a rumor rumor to get market share. They already have that and more. Wait, Vince are we on the same page here? Maybe next I will agree with catmanzou..........nope probably not. (PS, no offense to Vince on that one, just a shot at catboyzoo.)
  19. Haha. Says the MU fan. Quit fishing. I'm sure you Tigers would love to see Bo leave . . . I don't see it happening. Ah........ Penn State or Nebraska........ah let me think a minute. I'll take Penn State! f u c k i n g MizzWho fans..... somehow, someway, they will reach for something against Nebraska. It's quite sad, really.
  20. Wow............ With that national powerhouse Illinois there, how can you say such things?
  21. He really is a spoiled, pompous a$$. Real problem with authority. Glad he is gone.

  23. Because they are statements of fact. Had one said they think he is a great coach, and they think he is funny and think he in entertaining those are opinions. He took a really bad program and made them better than respectable is what makes him a great coach. This stuff isn't as difficult as you make it out to be. No they aren't. Pretty basic knowledge tells you those are opinions.
