  1. I do miss this. Made things interesting. We don't even have an Iowa fan that comes on, do we?
  2. Mostly because they both have Oklahoma in their name...
  3. Who in the actual f#&% cares how they do the squats? As far as I'm concerned, they can lift cement weights shaped like head-less Pteranodons tied to their ears if it means more football wins, and Duval knows how to train players to get more football wins. All I care about.
  4. So would you see similarities between that scenario and NU/Iowa as it develops over time?
  5. I think these topics come up so often because we actually don't have a true rival that has developed organically (anymore). That is because we haven't been in the league long enough for that to happen. I do wish to beat Iowa, Wisconsin, and NW more than others but I think that is more because those are typically the better teams in the division and that's who we have to beat to elevate the program. The reason Nebraska doesn't have all of these rivalries has been laid out, for 40 years we expected to beat EVERYBODY. A loss to anyone but Oklahoma was an absolute shock. National news. Other teams were happy to go to a bowl game and beat their in-state or near-state rival every year. Nebraska's season was deemed a near-failure if it didn't win 10 and be in the conference championship picture until the last game of the season. We haven't been that team for some time, but I think its coming. Iowa and Wisconsin will probably be the teams we have to go through to get there. That will make true rivalries develop. Now, if expansion does place Oklahoma in our division this question will take care of itself. Every other game will come with the passion to win them, but we will be fighting Oklahoma (hopefully) for our division most years. But also...screw Iowa.
  6. I wonder if they don't want to NOT redshirt him to give a year (or two) between he and Logan Smothers
  7. Dude, this is exactly how I feel. Also, I'm not afraid to expect more because I don't have to worry that an 8 or 9 win year (or even lower, yeesh) would mean going through a coaching change. Frost is safe, and it gives me a feeling of safety to hope again. Which is so awesome. I'm starting to get that same feeling I used to have about Nebraska Football. That championships are inevitable here, and we have the right guy to keep going after them. I feel like a kid again...
  8. No joke, maybe they should talk about out how the hell they are going to stop him and JD Spielman and Dedrick Mills and Maurice Washington and Kanawai Noa and Andre Hunt and Mike Williams and Darien Chase and Jack Stoll ....and Adrian Martinez
  9. I also agree here. I think it is natural to worry about who will replace Stanley and Ozigbo when they were both 1000 yard guys. But I think we will increase production by having 4 players get 300 yards or so both rushing and receiving. When Frost has more weapons, like he did year 2 at UCF and how Oregon did a few seasons, it is special. Add it to a QB like this one, holy hell people. I can't imagine defensive coaches will get much sleep during Nebraska week.
  10. 2001 was 37 2000 was 41.5 but, obviously, the speed at which this offense operates will probably inflate those numbers versus those seasons.
  11. I cannot wait to see people's reactions as both Husker fans and across the country when Frost gets to use all of his toys in this offense. I don't know if it all comes together this season or next, but man is it going to be special. Small hybrid guys that don't fit in other offenses that want a chance at the NFL will be beating down his door. It is going to be awesome.
  12. Everyone in the country will know the name Wandale Robinson by the end of the season. From everything I've read and heard from people that have seen him in practice, this dude is special. Add that to an expanded role for Mo and now its even harder to cover Spielman, our best player in the passing game. I feel like people are forgetting just how damn good JD is. I also think we have multiple options to carry the ball out of the backfield that are very talented. This all being led by one of the 5 best QB in the country? I am really not concerned about the offense. I believe they will average at or near 40 ppg.
  13. Man, I hate Miami. That was a satisfying game. They talked, they were dirty, we ran it right down their throats and pulled away after they gave up. That's Husker Football.
  14. That's funny as hell man. Well played.
  15. Fair. They are all three a nightmare and will be difficult. If we're going by the bolded, maybe we should be worried about Jacob Callier...lol
  16. Let me try again, as I read my reply I'm sorry I wasn't very clear in it. What I'm basically saying is this: 1. Stanley's numbers in 2017 were mostly to do with a higher number of targets but with more drops and errant throws. 2. In 2018, Stanley had less targets but more catches and yards. 3. He had more catches and yards in less targets because he was open in the new offense moreso than the old. 4. Teams were confused trying to defend Frost's formation alignment and playcalling so it resulted in more busted coverages underneath as Frost sent multiple routes at safeties to make them freeze and make a decision. 5. That moment allowed for routes like those Stanley was running and was very good at, to be wide open more than not. 6. It also opens up the running game and passing to the backs while spreading the ball around to playmakers so the defense cannot key on one player. (It is not a coincidence that Morgan had less than 400 yards 6 games in before Devine started rolling) Therefore, the scheme and playcalling of Scott Frost targeted Stanley less but made him a better and more efficient player in 2018.
  17. Truth. I hope Lamar Jackson's size helps on Shenault. I don't know how in the hell you can cover Moore. To be fair, I'm most concerned about not letting Taylor go for 200 again. We just couldn't stop the run last year.
  18. Stats tell a part of a story, watching the games tell another part. Rileys offense was stagnant and had ZERO running game. Nebraska attempted many more passes in 2017 versus 2018. Adding in the QB run in the option and a 1000 yard rusher made a huge difference in opening the passing lanes for Morgan, but also in Frost's offense it allows so much more space to run in versus the year before for our WR. Morgan is a good route runner, no argument there. He just can't take the top off of a defense, which Riley/Langsdorf tried to make him do too often. He was very good in that 10-15 yard range, so Frost put him in position to have a special season and gave him an excellent QB to deliver him the ball. It broke down and didn't work against great DBs on good teams because he couldn't shake them loose and get open. Listen, I like Stanley. I'm a Nebraska fan. Of course I root for him to be successful in the NFL. I think he could be a nice 3rd WR in a slot/Z role. However, I don't think Stanley is what made Adrian so good and therefore am not concerned with that issue this season suggesting Martinez won't have a good year. (Which was the premise of this thread) I think Martinez/Frost are the reason Stanley looked so good in many games.
  19. Yes, that's what I was trying to say when I talked about how Frost moved JD around. He used him to move safeties and confuse DBs by changing where he was in the alignment.
  20. Ok. Moore was an All-American AS A TRUE FRESHMEN and absolutely TORCHED Ohio State. It took him a little bit to get going because he played high school the season before, but he had more receptions than any player in the country and totaled 1500 yards from scrimmage and 14 TD as an 18 year old. Everyone has their opinion. I take Moore 10 times out of 10 over Shenault, and I'd take Jonathon Taylor over Shenault as well.
  21. Ok, but we aren't talking about stats. Morgan had a better year because the running game support helped eliminate double coverage and the amount of snaps helped him. He had 9 more catches and 4 fewer drops last year, mostly because he was more open. Also, let's just be honest. Morgan was the second best receiver on the team last year. After 10 games JD had 7 more receptions and was our #1 option. Martinez didn't force balls to Morgan, because JD was his #1 option most of the year. Frost moved JD around so much that it made defenses guess constantly what was going on, and it allowed Stanley a lot of 10-15 yard routes with one-on-one coverage. He was our third down guy, which is great. The safety help went to JD, because he is a much bigger problem for defenses than Morgan was.
  22. I will agree that it was pretty obvious that Martinez made Stanley better because he was able to fit balls into the tight windows that Morgan was briefly open in. Morgan is an above average college receiver, but probably wouldn't see the field at a place like Alabama or Clemson. He is not fast enough or quick enough to lose defenders and this is why he made many catches that looked so difficult. Those were the only places Adrian could put the ball where the defense wouldn't make a play on it. The biggest reason for Stanley Morgan's success....Scott Frost's offensive design and play calling.
  23. He is good, but he is NOT the best skill player we'll see all year. That would be Rondale Moore.
