  1. Craig Bohl and his NDSU Bison have beat three lower level fbs teams in the last three years. All of them on the road. They also lost to Minnesota by one and Wyoming by two or three in that span. The cyclones better be ready to play that first game or they might get knocked off.
  2. Why drop schools from a conference so that we can add better football schools? The conference needs struggling programs as much as it needs elite ones. If you want a super conference why don't you propose that the top 2 schools from each BCS conference play in a NCAA champions league? I like the fact that schools who are just starting to make a history for themselves want to move up in the world but the only way to maintain balance is to keep the schools you have or to implant a tier system into the conference with promotion/relegation built in so that lower schools could climb the conference ladder. I have no problem expanding but would prefer that we stay out of Texas, maybe Tulsa and Wyoming (I know they suck at everything but rodeo).
  3. I don't understand. If we are voting for player who showed the most skill at the position of punter or are we voting for the player with the best Husker career who happened to be a punter, or our favorite punter who played for the Huskers. If it's the first then the number of years played shouldn't matter, I think the stats on Erstad that newearth put up are more telling in that regard. As far as Erstad's average how many times did we punt from deep in our own end that year as opposed to how many times did he punt from the fifty trying to pin the other team inside the ten yard line? Length of punts doesn't tell everything when you have a dominate offense. Why penalize a player for playing on a very good team.
  4. I think that Zach Weigert should be listed, I guess I didn't realize that Stai got so many more accolades than Weigert did.
  5. With the exception of the Clemson game it seems that whenever our defense is on National tv they look average at best. Until we play better when we get on ESPN or ABC kids won't know that our defense is playing better under Bo.
  6. I think it might be as it appears on the surface. We valued Eric Martin more than Shawn Bodtmann and we needed to free up a scholarship to get Martin. It sucks that the scholarship was pulled a week before signing day but, the coaches have to decide what is best for the program and in this case a little bad press was worth getting a player you liked better. There may be some validity to the phone calls and the weight loss but it really does appear that we kept him in the class as a backup plan in case we couldn't get Martin. Once we got Martin to commit we didn't need a backup plan.
  7. I voted other so I could write in Mark Gilman, just for personal reasons not because he was the best. He did catch a TD in the 94 NC game and he was from Kalispell, MT which is where I lived after I graduated from high school.
  8. I voted for Kris, I thought he should have won the Groza his senior year but they gave it to someone else, Gramatica I think, instead.
  9. They will be playing the senior bowl on January 24 in Mobile. Rosters aren't final yet but some players (Quan Cosby I know of) have accepted invites.
  10. I respectfully disagree with a lot of that list but the top five are hard to argue with.
  11. Committed to Arizona State according to scout
  12. Jamel Williams. I used to control him on every down when I played NCAA 97 on my Sega. He was a stud.
  13. I think it depends if any of them get invited to the Senior Bowl. Draftability seems to be based on 90% workouts and the combine and 10% how you played during the season.
  14. We don't need an intrastate rival. The lack of one is what enables us to keep our reputation of having very classy fans.
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3744745 This would suggest he might not even play. Maybe you could make Spiller or Davis your favorite player now, and if they go down maybe a LB or WR next.
  16. Wortman was in my town at Cornhusker Boys State. Played Basketball against Andrew Shanle.
  17. He's no longer listed as a Husker commit on rivals either. I think our coaches were smart with this decision, if they were the ones that pulled the plug.
  18. I'm sorry it was predictable. But figured if someone was going to bring it up I would.
  19. What? You didn't hear about Bomar last year? He and another projected starter were collecting big paychecks from a local car dealer for working minimal hours. It happens everywhere. It really, truly does. It doesn't sound like you are too in touch with what's going on at other schools. To the same point the other player removed from the Sooners with Bomar for that situation, JD Quinn, has gotten two DUI's since he enrolled at the University of Montana two years ago. And other Montana Grizzlies have been arrested for breaking and entering, kidnapping, and a situation where three football players beat the crap out of a freshman on campus. So it happens to small schools in small communities too.
  20. I totally see where you're coming from, the same point is made when discussing this with my friends. Then I counter with, win your conference and all will be well...back and forth, back and forth. Then we reach the conclusion that there are just TOO MANY low quality teams in Div I and that a restructuring is needed. I guess we'll find out if you get both your wishes(playoff and restructuring) by 2012 when the current reclassification moratorium is over. I doubt that a playoff is implanted before then.
  21. Fact. Matt Turman. Undefeated as a starter I believe.
  22. I don't know, but the W that Washburn used in 2002 looks pretty much identical to Wisconsin's only in blue. I'm not sure the rules but i think that Delaware and Princeton had to pay Michigan to use the same design on their helmet.
