This is a good point. I, too, want Barney to succeed and to exceed the Pipeline years if possible. We all want a fantastic O Line. It's not about Barney, it's about the results. I don't care whose name sits next to the "Offensive Line Coach" title as long as it's a prospering unit. If it fails, it's time to make a change no matter whose name it is we're changing. The one time I spoke to Coach Gilmore I found him to be very open, engaging, pleasant - a lot more approachable than Bo, for example. I wanted Gilmore gone not because of Gilmore, but because our WRs couldn't catch the ball (or hold onto it as they ran down the field untouched). Word!

I'm all for A&M leaving to do whatever they think is right for them and their future, but dragging this on and on and on is ridiculous. I don't know if I speak for anyone else, but just do what you say you're going to do, cut ties and go. Starting to look like drama queens. Sorry A&M fans, I know it's not YOU doing that, but it's really a tired story by now.

Thankfully we won't hit a good defense until B10 play so that will give us a while to figure it out. The one thing people are forgetting here is that this line is base on forward technique that has us making contact with the defender be that in run or passing situations. We're not constantly moving backward trying to change the direction of the defender's momentum which is hard to do with a young line and requires a lot of excellent technique. We pretty much look to move the guy in front of you out of the way similar to most high school lines. These young guys have grown up in programs that are much further ahead of programs in the 80's and 90's so the gap isn't as bad as it used to be. They'll have some growing pains along the way but it isn't like they'll be clueless either. I'd rate them as slightly better than average (depending on the day) at this point with the potential to be good by mid season. I guess we'll really know when they have guys in front of them that they haven't figured out from playing against them everyday. Always look forward to your posts.

I read on another board (so take if FWIW), IF Notre Dame joined the Big 12-2(3), they would be allowed to keep their TV deal. Not sure that would bode well with the Uterus's but... I think I even posted above that if they did join a conference, it might be the B12 because of all the self-interest perks (paraphrased). However, I didn't actually think they ever would. It would probably take the super-conference formation to get the fire under ND. For the moment, they gain nothing by associating themselves with a different conference.
