  1. 1) I think it should be let go, now more than ever. Considering that braskypants hasn't posted in this thread since the 5th page and most of the debate is now between people with other varying opinions, it doesn't matter anymore. 2) There is no purpose, because we will never know. When we do find out what's going on, then we can bring this thread back up and talk about it then. Until that time, we gain nothing.
  2. According to Unsportsmanlike Conduct, a radio show on a.m. 1620, a school like Nebraska makes 8% off of all team jersey sales and other things of the sort. They suggested giving a guy something like half of that 8% (4%). I think that is completely fair, considering if a fan buys a #10 jersey with Helu written on the back, it's mostly because they really like the player and want his jersey. A fan isn't going to buy a jersey of a no-name walk on who will never see the field. Considering the player is the reason people buy a jersey, they should see some of that. Going by Nebraska sales of these things, a player could make up to $25,000 off something like that. Now, granted this isn't exactly what Keller's lawsuit is about, I still think it's fair to give guys some sort of payment for things like this. If games are going to portray these players, they should get something for it. I wouldn't let somebody make a video game exactly about me without letting me see some sort of payment. That's just my 2 cents though.
  3. I enjoyed the tidbit about the tight ends more, personally. I think I'll post here what I posted there for discussion purposes. Griffin says that Dreu Young really stepped up his run blocking this year, but what about the other guys? Traditionally, our tight ends were just like an extra offensive tackle in order to help our running game. Now, they have become a huge offensive threat in many offenses (perfect example would be Oklahoma from last season). Coaches said we were unable to use our power running formations for much of the year because our tight ends weren't good blockers. I would really like to see run blocking be a huge focus this year, considering it appears that their pass catching ability is great. We need all the help we can get for Lee to have a good year, and they need to be able to block just as well as they can catch.
  4. OH SH- The truth finally comes out.
  5. I think that has a lot to do with the economy, tbh. It hasn't been great in recent years, money has been getting tight, and traveling to other stadiums has become expensive. Also, I think it has a lot to do with how we are playing. People wanted to go to all the games in '95 because we were pretty much favored in all of them except for the Fiesta Bowl, now we don't quite have that swagger and ability to win on any given Saturday. But, we still travel well as a whole. We traveled very well to the Gator Bowl and matched Clemson fan numbers practically, and considering we were halfway across the country and Clemson is pretty close, that's saying something in my book.
  6. ...and you're going to be hearing it every year...year after year after year...until it finally happens, after which you won't hear it again because I'll have died of a heart attack. If that doesn't entice any of you to jump on the ISU bandwagon and start cheering for the Clones then I don't know what will.... You sure death from old age might not come first?
  7. Hmmm, I don't really remember how that turned out last year... Well, back on subject. I can say that the Kansas o-line has to get better next year; not only to give Reesing some time to throw, but to booster their running game. They got some work to do in that area, but have plenty of time to do it. The good thing about the KU game is that it takes place late in the year. Our QB will have plenty of game experience and will have been in ALOT "harsher" conditions than Lawrence. I agree. No disrespect to Kansas, but their stadium isn't very hostile at all. I'm definitely not saying that ours has been hostile over the last few years either, but by the time we play Kansas we'll have already been to Blacksburg and Columbia. If we come out of Blacksburg with a win, I think we go undefeated in the North.
  8. I said this before and got hammered for it. People must like you better than me. How could anybody dislike you, Willie?
  9. Good assessment. But I'm sticking to defense wins championships, and we've got more of it.
  10. Yeah, what Jen said guys. Come on, it's not like this is netbuffs.com. That website is like a cesspool of hate and filth for everyone.
  11. Shortened version: -Nobody knows. -Those that say it happened with no evidence. -Those that say it didn't happen with no evidence. -Ticket story was a lie, but again no evidence to support any other claim. -We all suck.
  12. Those hooligans! It's an outrage! It's a disgrace! Personally I think it's funny. If they need a pick me up to make themselves feel better after that heartbreak field goal and INT return from last year, let em have it. We still.. 1) Own the series lead by a long shot. 2) Have five NC's to their one. Nebraska>Colorado.
  13. Scout and Rivals are the best places. Short of coming onto here, there really isn't any other free recruiting information website.
  14. Redshirting is stupid, imho. Not because the concept of being on the team for five years is stupid, just the concept of being forced to sit out for one year so you can actually play four full years. They should just let players play for 5 full years. Given most true Freshman don't play a lot, it's not like it's a big deal. And then you could still grant a player a medical redshirt if they need it one year.
  15. The only team that would ever go to the Big 10+1 would be Missouri (from the B12).
  16. I know there was discussion on here previously about if/when Bo would leave for another opportunity, provided he is successful at NU. I think this comment from him lends some insight into his mentality, I think that Bo would stick around at NU even if he had the shot at OSU. I never understood that comment anyway. Honestly, success at Nebraska means championships. It's not like Gill coaching at Buffalo and waiting to coach at a major BCS school, cause Buffalo honestly has no chance of ever winning a MNC. If Bo left because of "success", the only "success" in his eyes would be a championship. Why would he leave if he won one? It'd be redundant to travel to another big time school like USC or Florida (just examples) if the only success there is also weighed in championships. The only place he would ever go IMHO would be Ohio State but even then, if he is successful at Nebraska there would be no point in going somewhere else that is a major DI school.
  17. T.O. let coaches go that he had shared a bond with. Here is what will most likely happen if the line doesn't produce in the next couple years: Pelini will go to T.O. for advice (given T.O. is still the AD), he will tell Pelini do what is best for the team and not for himself, and Bo will fire Cotton (again, this is if the line doesn't produce).
  18. Sounds boring... why don't you play online? I've done that too much as well
  19. Doesn't he feast no matter what the occasion/year?
  20. I agree with this for the most part, but more specifically I think it is a 50/50 deal. They judge the talent and then look at their needs, and then make a choice off of what they need and then take the best available player at the position. They go hand in hand. You need one to have the other. Come on, 50/50 is not agreeing with his post for the most part. Actually I think enhance was agreeing with TT. He is just saying that talent is the initial qualifier to get on the list of players a team will consider. From that point the actual selections are based upon taking players from that list that fit the needs best, not necessarily taking the top player overall on their list. So what he is saying is talent is the biggest factor, not needs. You can't say "I agree with this for the most part" and then say it's 50/50. That's not agreeing more one way or another. I totally get what he's saying I was just trying to be an ass. Specifically, I'm saying I agree with him that they pick on a need based system, but it all starts with talent. Obviously the combine doesn't show you what you need, it shows you who is talented. I can see how it can be confusing and contradictory, but there really is no way for me to put it, unless I say I completely disagree and think it is a 50/50 deal, but then It'd still be misleading because I'd be partially agreeing with him still. See the conundrum? Gotcha, I was just being a-hole, hope no offense was taken!! haha none taken
  21. You must still be an undergrad. I miss having that much time to waste! Haha. Thanks for the post Landlord. lmao I've had a lot of downtime this dead week
  22. A scholarship? Not really... imho, we should not waste a scholarship on Paulus. He played football in New York State, he hasn't padded up in over 4 years, he is NOT in football shape, and isn't up to game speed. Plus, a guy like Henery deserves a scholarship way before Paulus ever does.
  23. LOL ^^ LOL I like how it said that Daniel got hit two or three times..score one for Joey.
