  1. From what I have heard, the rule is going to be put in place to prevent taunting pre-score. For example, if a running back breaks a huge run and nobody is even close to him, and then slows down so they can catch up before he crosses the goal line, then he will be penalized. I think it's completely fair. Teams should win with class and not do it in an undesirable fashion. I think teammates should be allowed to celebrate after big scores in games and I think it's b.s. when people get penalized for jumping around with their teammates after a big score. But pre-score, there should be no taunting. Players need to grow up and be men.
  2. Considering I personally know someone who was juicing at a Division II school at the time who says both lines were, let's just say everyone was doing it and leave it at that. Oh and if you don't think people still are.... I refuse to believe that Nebraska juiced hardcore, because there is no way that would have been kept quiet. Every single team that has had a juicer has been found out at one point or another, or they eventually will be. Just look at A-Rod.. Secondly, the Big 12 has been around for a decade. We had two coaches, one who thought the entire offense revolved around the QB and every play had to be made special for him, and another coach who was all business and really had no idea how to run a college program. If T.O. had remained as coach, I'm sure we would still be a dominant power. T.O. has always adapted his defenses and offenses to meet the times, and Nebraska once had a strong spread running/passing attack, we weren't always this strong option team under Osborne like people assume we were. Posters like these are why I only listen to what Fro Daddy has to say, because he actually comes up with intelligent rebuttals and comments instead of just pulling crap out of his ass pretending Mizzou is greatest thing to hit college football ever. I have never though that Nebraska was the greatest and will always be the greatest, but I do believe in football programs making comebacks. OU was sh#t in the 90's, and now look where they are. Alabama was piss poor for a long time as well. Nebraska may never be what it used to be, but Nebraska will be competing for championships again some day.
  3. This makes him a difference maker???? Slow day Hukser??? Hmmmm....I guess I can throw in the fact that he also won the Colorado game for us as well. Point being he is better than most people think on this board, and while he may not be GREAT between the tackles, the blame can't all be on him. Our line was far from great last year. With improved line play his running between the tackles will improve. At this stage of his career he is a BETTER back than Hulu (May have mispelled). But with Castille, I will give NU the nod at RB. But I would still take Sharp as my starter over both. Just my opinion. Nothing against Sharp . . . Just don't use beating ISU '08 single-handedly as a bragging point (sorry Cy). CU would have been a better measuring stick IMO I have the utmost respect for sharp, and as I stated in earlier post, I do think Nebraska has the advantage since we have two outstanding backs and KU just has one for right now. I can only hope that Burkhead plays as well as Sharp does, so time will tell.
  4. One thing we can definitely take out of this upcoming year (despite all the North fans bickering amongst themselves) is that it is most likely going to be another year of the South making the North look bad. Bradford and McCoy are back, and even if they lost some key playmakers, they are still two of the best quarterbacks in the country. In my honest opinion (with my red glasses off and kool-aid in the fridge) I think the North is either Nebraska's or Kansas's. I honestly just don't think Mizzou will have a strong enough season to compete for the North title, but of course that's just my opinion and I'm not trying to be a homer. I think Mizzou has opportunities to beat either Kansas or Nebraska, but they won't beat both. This is the outcome I see as far as the North goes. Nebraska beats Mizzou, Kansas beats Mizzou, and Kansas beats Nebraska. Nebraska will win the North and beat both of them if their defense is as good as I hope it will be, but I think Kansas honestly has more advantages. *Puts red sunglasses back on and gets kool-aid out of fridge*
  5. Couldn't agree more. If the kid is the best for the job give him the start! I don't think Green is as ready as somebody like Terrell Pryor (sp?) was, but if the kid gets the playbook down and does what he needs to do then he deserves it. I like to think of the kid as a young Vince Young, he has almost the same body type minus a few inches, but he's a much better pocket passer than Young was coming out of high school.
  6. Born...is he even your friend for doing that on a MU/NU gameday??? I thought there were rules about that sort of thing. No OU or CU games, No opening weekends (season and conference) ect... The following law is taken directly out of the Nebraska State Constitution and has been modified for all to understand. According to Nebraska Law #1, having your wedding on Husker game day is a near mortal sin, and we tar and feather as punishment. It's ok though, some people like it, makes them realize they weren't in their right mind, and they end up accepting their punishment. We also have many sub-sections to the rule, for example there is a section that says you probably shouldn't get married on a Sunday either, for risk of ruining somebodies NFL gameday experience, and then there's the other part which entails that it probably isn't a good idea to have your wedding at any time during the fall. The punishment for the other two are much less drastic i.e. taking the first born and breeding them into a football player or making you wear a buffalo costume. Generally the punishments are up to the board of Pro Awesome Husker Fans.
  7. I would kind of like to see this thread get back to the overall outcome of next season and not just what's going to happen at Mizzou lol. Fro daddy, I like you and respect your opinion, but IMHO you are going to be hard pressed to change any homers' mind about anything on here. Of course, I'm definitely not saying you are trying to impose your will and knowledge on us lol, but I just don't want you getting carpal tunnel syndrome buddy!
  8. I don't think that will be decided till spring ball rolls around gets a bit closer.
  9. Big deal, there are plenty of coaches who pull the rug out from under incoming players so big whoop. Obviously something went array there and I think both sides are at fault but come on, if he isn't on the team right now then I don't think we needed him that badly. Good luck to the kid but come on, he's over and done with.
  10. The man speaks the TRUTH! They have a long way to go before they even begin to compete at a high level in the B12.
  11. good post. but its the offseason, you gotta bicker with opposing teams fans! in the end all will be fine. True this is. One thing I will respond to though-I think it's pretty even at RB between KU and NU. I really don't think either team has much of an advantage over the other. Nobody on this board seems to respect Jake Sharp, and I don't know why. He really didn't have a good game against you guys, but he single-handedly beat ISU, and helped us stay close with OU for 3 quarters. The guy can flat out play, and is one of KU's biggest difference makers. I think Jake Sharp is a heck of a football player and extremely talented. He is a real playmaker. That said, I think people are giving Nebraska the advantage because we have two outstanding guys in Castille and Helu. Because we have the depth, that's why I give them the nod over KU. Sharp can only be in the backfield for so long, but we have a lot of guys who can roll in and out of there and make some big plays. KU obviously has a WR and QB advantage without question, so no quarry there on my behalf.
  12. Here is my take on each game. WARNING: OPTIMISTIC Florida Antlantic/Arkansas state - I group these together because it will take both of these teams on the field to beat NU. I'm not even going to go in depth with this one, so I'll just keep it at we start the season 2-0. VaTech - I'm having a real tough time with this one. I think VaTech has more depth/talent right now on both sides of the ball and they have a pretty strong defense. Still, that defense didn't look too hot against Nebraska last season and they won on costly mistakes, especially Bo's foul I still think Nebraska loses. 2-1 Louisiana-Lafayette Win, 'nuff said. 3-1 Missouri - If this was in Lincoln, I'd say for sure win. Even with it being in Missouri, I still think Nebraska wins. Missouri lost more key players on both sides of the ball than Nebraska did, and defensively Nebraska will have stepped it up next year. It's my honest opinion Missouri will be hurting more because of their QB troubles. Chase Daniel was their rock and their foundation, and with him gone they will take a huge hit. Nebraska wins, but will be tough fought. 4-1 Texas Tech Even after they lose their great quarterbacks, they still end up popping out a new one who deals out some good damage to opposing defenses. I think Nebraska comes away with this one, and finally beats TT. 5-1 Iowa State Coaching changes and lack of talent will hurt here. Easy win. 6-1 Baylor They'll be back firing this year with Griffin. Even though they had a good recruiting class, it's going to take awhile to get those guys to develop and be playmakers. 7-1 Oklahoma Still has the better talent and Stoops is a damn good coach during the regular season. Oklahoma rolls, but Nebraska fights and plays them close for parts of the game. 7-2 Kansas Kansas returns the most starters of any Big 12 north team. They will have an advantage offensively, but Nebraska will have the advantage defensively. 8-2 Kansas State Too many questions and not enough talent to compete yet. 9-2 Colorado This is the second hardest game for me to pick, behind KU. I'm not going to be able to pick this one until I see what Colorado does during the reg season. They never live up to their potential and seem to choke away games they are poised to win. If Colorado has a good season, we need to look out, but I still say win with a good Nebraska defensive performance. 10-2 Big 12 Championship Game Against Texas Texas has better talent and a poised returning quarterback. They'll win, but it should be close. Even in 2007 with all of Nebraska's troubles, they almost beat Texas and have played them very close the last 2 times we have played them. I think Texas wins though. 10-3 Bowl Game With a 10 and 3 season we still probably won't make it to a BCS bowl game and I think OU and Texas will take the two the Big 12 gets. I can't pick this one yet, but if we make it to a BCS bowl game, I don't think with our current talent and depth that we will win. We finish 10-4 The only games I'm not confident about are Kansas, Colorado, and VaTech. I think we take one from Missouri this year, though. Cheers
  13. Bill Miller coaching career from 99-2008 (not in exact order of when he actually coached) Nevada OSU Miami Michigan State Arizona State Western Michigan Louisville according to http://www.wibw.com/sports/headlines/37394039.html Bo Pelini coaching career 99-2008 New England Patriots Green Bay Packers Nebraska Cornhuskers - DC Oklahoma Sooners - Assistant DC LSU - DC (National Championship) Nebraska Cornhuskers - HC Pelini's is a bit more respectable.
  14. Couple of points I have (while remaining as respectful as possible)... 1) Getting a better offense does not mean that our defense won't be getting better. Pelini is the best defensive mind in the B12, so people can't be naive and assume that one team will get better and the other team won't. 2) Stole the number one recruit out of Nebraska? That must have been real hard with all the 5 star talent we have around here... 3) Trouble recruiting to Nebraska because of location? Sorry to point this out KU, but your state has the same type of weather Nebraska generally has. KU doesn't have any better location than NU, and NU has tradition and championships on it's side which looks better to recruits. 4) You had one phenomenal season in 2007, which was a very commendable season. Don't let success get to your head, just like I haven't with NU. I don't think NU is this dominant power that is a forced to be reckoned with, and neither is KU.
  15. I think without question Kansas loses to Oklahoma and Texas next year, so there are two losses. They'll lose to at least one North team (hopefully the Huskers). Also, Kansas just has a brutal ending to the season after a relatively cake-walk non-conference schedule. The play Iowa State, Colorado, Oklahoma, TT, KSU, Nebraska, Texas, and Missouri in that order. ISU and KSU are for sure wins, and Oklahoma and Texas are for sure losses, but TT, Nebraska, Colorado (maybe) and Missouri are all going to be tough games. But as I stated before, the non-conference schedule could hurt Kansas if they make it to a bowl. The only real reputable team they play (imho) is Southern Miss, and even they aren't very good.
  16. I agree you should win, but for most of the game in Lincoln you must have had your hands up, as you were down at half and did not exactly dominate. You deserved your win, but I would not take that predicition with quite as much confidence. They have a crappy home field vibe and all, so being on the road is less of a disadvantage except you can actually hear the insults, as there is so little crowd noise to drown them out. P.S. Typical KU luck, we get Baylor in Griffin's Junior and Senior years... great.... I'm not going to lie, Kansas gets arguably the toughest schedule year in and year out lol. I mean you have to play OU, Texas, and TT next year if I'm not mistaken. It really hurts Kansas's chances of being competitive and coming out of the Big 12 North with a strong record.
  17. Cody Glenn owns a unicorn and is friends with the Green Lantern. There...I bet that hasn't been said alrerady. I lol'd
  18. Our entire 2008 season was a season of learning, which is expected under a new head coach. We will have far fewer screw ups this year, and Baylor's lack of talent will show. I expect Griffin to make some plays but honestly, as of right now, they are still the Baylor team we all know. They have to prove themselves.
  19. Sorry I didn't really mention how to do much. If you want to make a new page, either search for the page name of what you want to create, and if it doesn't exist it will say "You can create this page", and 'create this page' is clickable to take you to the edit screen to make it. Alternatively, you can change the url at the top after "title=" and just put in the title of what you want the page to be called, and then you'll see an edit button to start typing in I'll try and put up a 'getting started' guide to explain some of the features of the wiki. That would help immensely broski. Thanks.
  20. A realist... what the heck are you doing here? Since neither Mizzou fans or Husker fans even know who the the QB will be, or the depth chart on O-line or receivers, it's a little early to predict a record. (Mizzou has a pretty good idea that Gabbert will be the starter, but he's only had about 15 snaps.. so who knows?) 15 snaps is almost better than the two guys we have competing.. combined
  21. It's unfortunate he couldn't play every game this last year. Hopefully, he will have a good NFL career and make Husker nation proud that way.
  22. I like it! I checked it out a few days ago, but I'm not sure I quite understand yet how to work with it. Guess it's going to take some looking around.
  23. This man definitely doesn't have what it takes to be a consistently strong head football coach, so it's good he is sticking it out as a position coach.
