  1. Couple things about the two close games we lossed. With the game at Virginia Tech, not only did our defense have miscues but our offense was very complex and too far out there. After the VaTech game we trimmed down our offensive scheme so the players could adjust, thus our offense really started to click. Had our offense been trimmed down PRE-VaTech I think we might have won. And although we took Texas Tech into overtime, the only reason we were in that game was because of our T.O.P. and our offense. I don't know the exact stats, but I do know that TT scored on almost every single drive they had with the exception of one or two. That's how Nebraska's has approached games this season. If we get in a shootout we'll probably implode and not win (like against CU in 2007). That's why we need T.O.P. to favor us so our defense isn't on the field so much.
  2. He sure did, have fun with that soft zone, no blitzing defense. Yall will destroy it. Man I'm not going to lie, even with Bill Snyder being named head coach I see no way that KSU is going to get any good again. They're all ready down the tube, and if you guys didn't like your DC at Clemson then I'm sure he won't be well liked at KSU and they'll probably have a bowless season next year. By the way, whoever posted 42-24 Clemson is not thinking straight. IF Clemson wins it's not by more than two TD's, and same with if Nebraska wins. All things put together, whichever team wins is going to win by a small margin.
  3. I will never listen to a Missouri fans opinion on anything until a few things happen. A) They even the all-time score with Nebraska. Until then, MU fans will find anything and everything to make themselves feel better. B)Win a couple of NC's. Even during Nebraska's bad season last year, we sold out every home game. I guarantee you that 90% of college football stadiums wouldn't have had that happen to them last year if they were in our position. Especially if it was MU.
  4. I think one thing you will notice in the coming years is more of the "best athlete at the position" scheme. A staple of the Nebraska program (pre-callahan) was the walk on program and the ability for walk ons to beat out scholarship players for playing time. Callahan wasn't a huge fan of this, but the 2008 season has shown a lot of promise as far as walk ons go especially in the amount of walk-ons we have this year. It's not all about "knowing the scheme" or "knowing the offense" as you were saying which I completely agree on. It's more about who you have at that position. Look forward to this in the coming seasons.
  5. The run starting at the 2:46 mark is incredible. Arguably one of the must unreal and greatest runs ever in college football history. That video is so emotional. I can't help but almost get teary eyed and jacked up for Husker football every time I watch it. It's become kind of a tradition at my house to put it up on the big screen before the game starts to get us all jacked up and ready to go!
  6. Welcome Mac and thanks for coming to our board! We're all freakin excited for this game and we're having a great time chatting with all the Clemson fans on our board. Can't wait to talk with you all the way up to gameday and hopefully beyond! We'd love to have you stay on our board. Again, Welcome!
  7. Actually, we can lose. If we lose by more than 20, it will not be a good sign. BTW, you probably shouldn't have mentioned that you're a fluff fan. (Did I get that right Huskers?) Killer Cacti you are officially my favorite Clemson fan! Nobody will ever touch your greatness haha
  8. This video is the BEST Husker video that is out there without a doubt. It really showcases everything Nebraska and everything we stand for. It also showcases highlights from the greatest Husker eras. Enjoy. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W8oxg9xheXs
  9. Ok those voting polls are seriously flawed. Have you noticed with the exception of the Big 12 most of the other conferences "worst fan bases" are from the schools that play the best football? USC has the worst Fans and Georgia and Florida (same conference, I know) have the worst fans as well. That seems more of just like who do you hate more. And obviously the people who voted Missouri as having nicer fans than Nebraska have never been to a Missouri game.
  10. 'Clemson lurkers'? He has nearly twice as many posts as you!! Just giving you a hard time red. But, I agree with you. This one is going to be close. I don't see our O blowing up their D, and I certainly don't see their O overpowering us. Hey you suck jk
  11. Colorado and Missouri fans are the worst fans in the Big 12. Colorado had the classic '05 incident when they got their butts handed to em 30-3. I give Missouri the slight edge because even when they were dominating teams this year, their stadium STILL didn't fill to capacity. They are also very fickle fans who tend to bash NU because they hate us. Simple fact of the matter is, if you look at the all time leading record of NU-MU, NU is far and away gone with that record. I think it would take MU 25-30 years of straight beating us to even the score. MU fans stick around when things are great, but then filter off when things are bad. At least, for the most part, Colorado fans have better turn outs.
  12. Here is something interesting. You don't hear a whole lot about Daniel, Reesing, or White going to the NFL. Who do you hear going to the NFL? People like Josh Freeman. "Woah he is bad!" Blah blah blah. Josh had no talent around him but he knows how to play the pro-style quarterback position. Here is what I think is going to happen. You guys ready for this? Defenses are recruiting smaller, lighter guys to play on defense in order to combat the spread attack. You can't have 250 lb. linebackers in your nickel and dime formations because they will get burnt badly. GT is way ahead of the curve. You see how they've been lighting people up? They have a running triple option attack that is devastating all those lightweight backs on defenses. The teams that catch onto this and bring back power running games are going to be ahead of the curve and start creating very powerful offenses.
  13. I would like to reiterate one thing I believe that was posted earlier or I read somewhere. Bo has only lost one bowl game in his entire major coaching career. He has tons of experience. He beat Michigan St. 17-3 when he was the interim head coach at NU. He lost (badly) to USC in the NC game as DC. As the LSU DC, he won every single bowl game the Tigers went to and had a lot of experience with Les Miles in preparing teams for big bowl games. Don't forget, this guy won a national championship last year. When it comes to bowls, this guy knows what he is doing and has a ton of experience.
  14. It's not like 90's was that along ago. Nebraska was still pretty dominant all the way up till 2002. Besides, the 1995 Husker team was arguably the best college football team to ever play the game and the 90's was a great decade for Husker Football. We just miss it so much! lol I'm going to keep talking about the 90's decade until we win 4 championships in one decade You're right though. We all need to get lives.
  15. I agree with what most of you are saying on here. I think Witt is going to get the starting shot, but the best thing for Green to do is redshirt, build his strength and conditioning, and learn the playbook. That way, when it comes time for Green to really compete for the starting job, he can ease right in. Who knows? Maybe his second season here (following his redshirt season) he'll come in during the middle of the season and take over for the starting quarterback. Then he will play 3 more years and win us a Heisman like in '01
  16. I stand by that, as well. Stats mean nothing on game day. 1996 Fiesta Bowl with Florida vs. Nebraska anyone? Nebraska was a five point underdog and Florida was supposed to have an evenly matched defense and even stronger offense than what we had. We all know how that game turned out for Florida.
  17. I see what you're saying but in my eyes that doesn't take away from how their defense plays. Yes, their offense has probably played statistically better defenses (i'm not sure I haven't looked up the numbers) but that still leaves the fact that their defense didn't necessarily play the greatest of offenses. And I still think it boils down to offensive prowess. With how dominant the Big 12 is offensively, I don't think anybody could have been able to survive the onslaught and come out with a top 25 defense.
  18. Very true. The only problem with Ganz (which a lot of people seem to talk about) is his arm strength. He tends to force some balls sometimes.
  19. I don't want to take anything away from the Clemson defense. They play some damn good ball. I don't think it's fair to say though, given what I've been reading, Clemson's defense is vastly superior to some of the B12 defenses. Nebraska played 7 teams with offenses ranked in the top 50, and played 3 teams with offenses ranked in the top 10. Clemson played 3 teams with offenses ranked in the Top 50, and zero teams with offenses ranked in the top 10. The two teams CU played with better than average offenses (FSU and Bama) they gave up 41 and 34 points respectively. I will give CU the fact that they did have some serious turmoil and a coaching change, but still, the numbers don't lie. I don't like hearing that the B12 "doesn't play defense" when we have to deal with these extremely powerful high-ranking offenses. Given a couple years and Bo's great defensive mindset, I think NU could make a name for themselves defensively in the B12. In the latter half of the season, the reason NU gave up points to the weaker offenses was by shooting themselves in the foot. We gave KSU 14 points from an interception and a ridiculous kick off return. Despite two big plays for Colorado, they were held to less than 150 yards in the second half and only scored 1 offensive TD in the second half. Colorado got 14 points thanks to NU miscues and our weak secondary. tl:dr I think if Clemson had to play the offenses that Nebraska had to play, their defensive numbers would be significantly worse.
  20. Ganz and Zac did develop very nicely. But look back on the Huskers of the good ol' days. Can we name any guys (specifically Callahan's recruits) that developed significantly in their time as Huskers? The defense was especially rancid thanks to the lack of attention Cally paid towards them. Sure we had guys who played well, but we only had a few people who lived up to any hype. Here is a list of a few people who were extremely hyped and didn't live up to their potential.. Sam Keller Marlon Lucky Maurice Purify (he did well, I'll give you guys that, but he didn't make a gigantic impact in 2007) Corey Mckeon Those names stand out specifically to me. I think our receivers are the only thing that ever developed well, which is obvious because Pelini retained Ted Gilmore. I guess i'm specifically disappointed in how our defense played over all in the Callahan era.
  21. Staple of the Cornhuskers. What we have generally lacked in speed, we make up for with in your face size and strength. 1995-96 NU vs. Florida anyone?
  22. Better than talking to puff fans, that's for sure.
  23. Simply put, Clemson is going to have to score more than 28 points to win this game and they're going to have to hold Nebraska to field goals. Clemson's defense is great, it's just the offense where they lack explosiveness. I expect points for Clemson to come in the form of turnovers, special teams, and maybe one or two good offense drives. Our special teams has generally been horrendous. Clemson will also have to hold Nebraska's T.O.P. to an all season low. When we have the T.O.P. on our side, we generally win. We beat teams by wearing down the defense slowly and surely. I think Clemson's defense, however, will be up to the challenge. One good thing working for NU's defense, however. CU is last in 3rd down efficiency and they allow more sacks than anybody else in their conference. One bad thing working for CU's offense, our weak secondary.
