  1. I don't see a lot of these schools having a great recruiting advantage. I suppose if you want to put a big blanket over the whole south and say that the weather gives them an advantage, but Alabama and South Carolina are pretty ugly states overall and the heat and humidity for training camp and early season is miserable. Clemson and A&M are out in the middle of nowhere. As for Ohio St, Columbus seems like just a bigger version of Lincoln/Omaha. More people but more competition. If the population is such a big advantage why isn't Indiana ever up there? How could Stillwater, Oklahoma be a recruiting advantage? Maybe the reasons are in the cheating thread. I just don't buy that Nebraska = Siberia and everywhere else = South Beach or Hollywood, and yes, I know you didn't say that. Some teams have advantages based off they are in hotbeds for talented athletes. Columbus isnt great but Ohio football is. Not al the teams above us have all the advantages but it seems most of them kill it in recruiting due to one advantage whether it be proximity, weather or hotbed for talent. The SEC card plays very big for southern athletes. It is hard to get them to leave for Lincoln. It sucks but it is the truth right now. Now we win a few BCS games and that may change.
  2. Looking at the teams ranked above us and we are starting to go toe to toe with them.in recruiting. When bo first took over we were not recruiting against the top teams very well. All the teams above us have a great recruiting advantage based on region, weather and pure population standpoint. I think this staff is finding its groove and hope they continue moving the program the right direction. Our young talent on both sides of the ball will be exciting to watch this season and down.the road.
  3. He has the frame to hold close to 300 with good weight. Juco meal plans are a little different than the Nebraska nutrition he would receive. Weight shouldn't be an issue. He has something Meredith never had. Quick twitch muscles. If he was a HS recruit, I would be more on your side. Building up to the desired weight in a healthy manner and getting used to playing at the heavier weight generally takes a year to acclimate to, making red shirting linemen almost standard practice. As it is, he is a JUCO and would be counted on right away. His 2nd year could be really good, but I am not sure you would get the immediate impact year 1 which is what you want the player to do as you lose the key development years. 247 also lists him as possibly playing SDE so it's conceivable that he could start one spot then move. Good call mavric. Jared crick plays around 270 280 and he could man the middle fine. This kid doesn't need to hold 300 pounds even though he could. Getting accustomed to a weight is more important to guys that play in space. This kid could get to 280 andplplay inside. I hope it doesn't take a year for guys to get used to weight bc that means Randy Gregory won't play this year he is up to about 260 from 230. Can't wait to see that kid once Dobson and staff get a hold of him. Regardless of the discussion this guy can help is somewhere on the d line.

  5. Scout says we are in the top 2 for Pelon with wiscy vying for a visit.. Would be great to land this kid. He is raw in his technique, but has a lot of ability u can't coach.
  6. A grown man wearing a jersey is usually an indicator that the person has never played football and doesn't know anything about it.
  7. Premium article on 247 about him and a couple editors predicting him to be a husker. Any official word on how we stand with him. It would be nice to start picking up some defensive committs with him and then hopefully Newell
  8. How about Finnin taking over one of the tackle spots.
  9. Not surprising, but still sucks. Let's go get Newell and Pelon.
  10. Icing on the cake would be to run into Suh on his visit. Maybe even a conference call or something. He is a big fan.
  11. Ernest suttles Thomas brown Terrell Dixon
  12. Randy Gregory Jonathon rose Alonzo Moore
  13. I see Harvey was at least nice enough to keep StevieP on and find him a job. Let's do this sec style and just give him the vehicle.
  14. ^This I can see Ohio State failing to show up every week to pick up every W. I also think Northwestern has the second best team in the conference, but thanks to a brutal schedule won't have the record to show it. Nw is not the second best team on conference. If they we're then they would be fine regardless of.schedule. we have had a bruta sched the last 2 years and proved to be a top team. Now it's there turn. Let's see if they are a legit 10 win team.
  15. Wow. 280 and playing qb, rb, and lb. Very versatile athlete. He would be a project, but at that size u can't coach his athleticism. Teach him a little technique inside and he could be a beast. His coach must be a pretty cool guy to let a kid like this live.the dream and play out of a two point stance. Heck he even throws.the ball.
  16. I Rewatched a ton of games this weekend. You'd be surprised. We weren't as bad as people want to make us out to be on our DL. Our linebackers and safety play just wasn't there. The problem is that most that were there are going to be gone. Dline played well against run. Struggled to put pressure on qb. Martin was the only guy who could win up front. Other than that we had to bring pressure to get to qb. If we had any sort of pass rush our secondary would have been even better. Once baker got hurt we struggled a little. He was a dtackle that could take over a game and demand the offenses attention.
  17. Hope we stay on this kid. If we are 8-0 rolling into Mich and arky tanks again this season we could flip a kid like this. Or we get someone that is higher on our boards.
  18. No one said he was the greatest thing since anything, said he has an unreal combination of size and speed. On measurables and stats alone he is an elite 5 star athlete IMO I have high hopes for Gerry, but if u just evaluate guys on measurables then you are probably thinkin kenzo cotton Is a 5 star kid based on measurables. I don't see kenzo as a div 1 kid, but He is faster than Gerry and has great size too. Lets see how he plays against great competition. Again, I think this kid will be a player but we will see how quickly that happens. Compare the film of these two and youll see how ridiculous this is. Gerry 6 1 206, cotton 6 1 191. That Is not 30 pounds. That is just comparing the numbers from recruiting databases. Gerry has put on weight but cotton.still has a year of.school left. We are not comparing film just measurable. That is the whole point. If u compare film of Gerry and cotton it is easy to see Gerry is much better. If u compare measurables then they are very similar

  20. Sorry to confuse u. Talking about Madre and a prospect vying for a running back spot with him is unacceptable and will not happen again. We will create a new thread in the recruiting for such discussion.
  21. That is a pretty good top group to be in for a running back. It seems like many posters aren't as high on this kid as they should be. He has good film against great competition. Very athletic for a big back. Nice vision too. Let's reel this kid in. You're right but I just think many of us are really hoping for Ballage and when comparing the two I think most of us would take Ballage hands down. If we can't land Ballage then I think London would be a good alternative. I like ballage but I think he is more of a LB. I agree with just trying to get him on campus and see where he plays out bc he is such a great athlete. If we are recruiting a guy to play running back I think this is our guy. When I look at the Ballage's film I just don't see a great LB. Everything about him measurable wise made me think he would be a great LB but he just doesn't play at LB with any aggression or ferocity. When he is running with the ball it looks like he isn't going to let anyone stop him but when he is on D he just looks like he is going through the motions. JMO. And i for one love him at running back. He reminds me of LP. Two way high school players might find it easier to conserve energy on defense easier than offense. When u are carrying the ball it is full go. With the demands of playing iron man football a great athlete can not play at full speed all the time and still be the best defensive player on the team.
  22. I have a feeling it will only get worse next year, thank you B1G. I thought protocol was to blame Obama for everything...? More important than the time the game is played is winning. Just win baby! We do that and it don't matter what time we play recruits will start falling into place.
  23. Bingo.......... It will be a loss if we don't sign a guy that is as good or better. At the end of the day I don't care where the kid is from as long as he can play. Keeping local kids is great for a program. But the program will be fine without him. Good luck to him. Hopefully we will see him in a couple rose bowls in his career. Us coming out on top of course.
