  1. I listened to Jeremy Crabtree today on 1620, (he is the rivals guy), and yes, he said all of the losses "sting" a little......hell, they sting a LOT.... but as he put it, everyone just needs to weather the storm....soon, all of the defectors will officially be gone, and he said that this staff is working very hard and will probably bring in guys that we don't even know about yet...... I think that LSU will have a great showing in the NC, and then we will have approx. 4 weeks to hit the trail hard, and this staff will land a "few" top notch guys...... they will land enough guys for us to partially salvage this class......... This will not really effect us immediately, but might hurt in a few years.........but, if Bo turns this program around, the recruits will come back in the following years..."if you build it, they will come"....... Yes, we are going to lose a few more....hopefully we keep Hoch to put with Baker and Okafor to put with the stable of backs we have.....maybe lure LaMicheal James from Texas and land a few more.....we will be okay....
  2. I heard this yesterday....some analyst said expect Merideth to be the next to go,and I believe that he was not only refering to decommitment, but also to CU.....so I am sure he is gone also... Hawkins is doing a nice job of selling his program, and defacing (not that I blame him) our program.....the guy has what it takes apparently..
  3. neonwolf...........dag-nabit..........I am not 40, and how dare you say that .......actually, I'm 38, and don't look like a day over 58, and don't act like a day over 8.... and, by the way, I noticed that I spelled "quit" wrong in the title.....sorry.... I am glad to see almost all posts that somewhat agree.....I figured that I would get barbequed with this sentiment, but it is refreshing to see that I am not completely alone here...... THIS IS THE NEBRAKA FAN BASE I LOVE AND PROUD OF !!!! - even if I am almost 40...
  4. Damn, I am as upset as anyone out there that these HIGH SCHOOL KIDS, yes 17 year old boys are changing their mind, but for pete's sake (whoever pete is ), can some of you guys show some damn class. Verbally assaulting these guys and calling them out or calling them names, and using profanity towards them, or wishing them bad luck...........C'mon, I expected more from some of you "self-proclaimed" best fans in football...... What if YOUR son, someday has to chose a college, then switches his mind.....or what happens when a guy who committed to WV decides to come to NU....then is he the same "two-faced", "back-stabber", as the guys who decommit from NU? Carl Pelini said yesterday that some of these boards could hold some of the blame for losing recruits....We all know that HS kids spend a ton of their time on the web, and continually read sights like this..... Man, if I read how some of you treat our "decommits", it would really "open my eyes" to a whole different perspective of Nebraska.......think about it... I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be....I screw up more in one hour than most people do in a day....so don't tell me to get over myself......that isn't it at all... Just asking people to act with the class of the AD that most all of you worship.......take a lead from a "role model"..... TO didn't get his respect by lashing out at HS boys, like some on this board...... Yes, I am pissed as hell when guys leave, but that doesn't mean we have to hammer them.. PS - I understand and appreciate that when you look, you will see probably OVER 60% of the posts are positive and wish the athletes well.........THAT IS THE CLASS WE ARE KNOWN FOR....KEEP IT UP....

    OT Dan Hoch

Blackshirtsguru.......were is this info coming from , or is this your opinion? Not disagreeing with you, just wanting to know..... My brother knows Dan personally, and hasn't mentioned anything....but, I am not saying that you are wrong, because at this point, I am SURE you are right..
  6. robsker: Unfortunatley, this is the thinking that is "creeping" into my mind and I know that it is all a very distinct possibility that you may be spot on.............. As you, they don't come any more "die-hard" than myself....I will guarantee that......but I am extremely concerned about this program.....I know that "glory days" are long gone, but the future really worries me....as you stated, the teams around us are way ahead of were we are right now...especially in the national spotlight....... with those teams' success, it will be very difficult to catch up.....especially if we are going to lose high quality athletes and only gain "walk-ons" who have a lot of heart......hell, I would die to be a Husker, no one would work harder than I.....but when I graduated High School at 150 lbs., it wouldn't matter how hard I tried...not going to cut it..... Man I hope Bo can pull a miracle and we have to win !!!!!!!!! Winning cures all.........and brings in top-notch athletes.....
  7. Yes, a coaching change was needed, and yes, we got a guy most of the State wanted.... and yes, although he was not my 1st choice, I will support Coach Pelini to the end......... As stated in other threads, we expected to lose recruits, but it is almost reaching a "laughable" scenario...and I can't figure out why... Yes, I know that Hawkins (CU) is a great coach and is a people person, and I understand that all of the other coaches around the country are doing a great job of raising "red flags" about Bo and 1st time coach.... but, remember, Hawkins and the rest of the group were there when all of these guys committed too....... I truly thought we would lose a few, but I honestly thought that replacing Coz (worst D in school history), with Bo Pelini (one of better D-coord. by stats over last 5 years), that a lot of these DEFENSIVE recruits would be pumped....... then, once Bo has met with them, they are dropping like flies...... Offensively, I was worried about losing more guys, but once Bo retained Coach Watson, who recruited some of them, and is going to run a very similar scheme, that the damage would be held to a minimum.....but, once again, after our coaches had talked to them, they continue to drop....... I applaud the arrival of Coach Pelini and his staff.....if fact, I absolutely love some of his assistant coaches, but am getting a little concerned that the ONLY person who has committed in the last 3 weeks is a "walk-on" from the middle of Nebraska (not that he won't be great)......and we have lost some of the better "athletes" in the country......I call them "athletes" because they haven't shown the ability to "play' in college yet... I really hope this is just a knee jerk reaction, and that after the dead period, we shore things up....but there is a small part of me that is getting a little concerned.... I don't totally buy the whole *** thing, but I also don't buy the "give me a bunch of 1-2*** kids who work hard" theory either.......... It is funny that when Solich was fired, everyone kept saying, we just don't have any TALENT (hence 1-2 * guys)..........now everyone is saying that it is okay to line up with inderior athletes.......yes, in some instances, a FEW of the inferior athletes with a ton of heart will make it huge, but face it, you need athletes and SPEED to win.....no matter how "good" the coach is....... Everyone thinks (including me) that Stoops and Meyer are top 1-5 coaches, but look at their athletes too........... I am just worried that we will all be saying "not enough "talent" or "too many 'Nebraska' guys on the field"........... Just food for thought.
  8. To add onto the Stan Drayton comment, they said that he had connections to Bo, and that he is originally form Ohio.... and that he was listed as one of the top 25 recruiters in NCAA.....landed 9 recruits for Florida last season, and recruits the state of Florida....the guys on 1620 were almost hoping that Stan is the guy.

or BILL Clinton or Hillary CLINTON or HILLARY Duff or DUFF (from Guns and Roses) I'm sorry...I love this game....I'm 38 and my buddies and I will start doing this dumb stuff every now and then...
  10. Hunter, I agree with you, and I wish we knew the exact answer why all of sudden everyone is leaving....and I understand that the players will have to "earn" a spot, but if a coach is telling you that you can come in and expect to play (BC)..... and the other is telling you that you will have to work your a$$ off (Bo)....then maybe it might have a little to do with it.....especially, since most of these 4-5 * guys are probably "walking easily" throughout their high school career.. What I was suggesting is that BC mya have told all of these guys that they were going to see the field early.... very possible..... My wife has had lunch a few times with Paul, and early in the season, he told her that he expected to see A LOT of playing time.... the coaches had told him he was ready..... If I recall, he only played a handful of snaps on offense and rarely special teams.....
  11. At first glance, I was getting really pi$$ed off by losing all of the reccruits...... I knew this would happen with a coaching change, and a CHANGE WAS NEEDED....but it really sucks to lose all of these guys.... I thought Rippy was solid as of late last week and Kuli was solid.....what is up? After much thought, swearing, and more thought, I think I have the conclusion.......IMO, it is obvious that BC fed these kids full of sh!t, and basically told them that they would come in a see a ton of playing time immediately......probably the same thing he told Thenarse, Culburt, Brooks, and Paul to get them to sign on the line.....Basically, these guys are good players, but I think BC wasn't up front.... I bet he told all of the above mentioned players they would see time, and yet, all 4 guys I mentioned rarely saw the field.....and if they weren't ready, then that is fine.. Bo is going in, shooting from the hip, saying the best player will play....practices will be hard and physical, and YOU will have to PROVE to the staff that you DESERVE to play..... I think that some of these "all-stars" are getting a little "cold feet" about having to come in and f'n WORK !!!!! So yes, I am pissed, and a little concerned that since Bo has been in charge, the ONLY deal that we have "sealed" is a 0 * walk-on and we have had many, many big time guys decommitt.....but, hey, he will get the guys "he wants".....may take a year or two....
  12. It was listed on FSN Midwest but on the "alternate" channel.... couldn't get it 50 miles away from Omaha....pissed me off, especially when I had to listen to KP on the radio all day.....at least we won!!!!
  13. Christmas Vacation is #1 in this household....... Christmas Story is a close 2nd.......... Home Alone 2......because of my 7 and 10 year old.....and oh yea, me too.
  14. Thank you Ryan !!!!! congratulations to the Big Red and to Doc.....
  15. Free throws almost killed us !!!!!..... hope Andersen can hit this with 17 sec. left
  16. I'm sorry, at one time I enjoyed listening to Kent, but he is killing me today....maybe I am a little grumpy, but he is driving me nuts...
  17. I absolutely can't believe what just happened with the 3 pt/foul
  18. Don't look now, but I said we would lose at least 6 of the 8 named.....I'm well on my way to being right....didn't even include Robinson.... I think Hoch and possibly Williams are the two most promising, with Okafor a chance....everyone else...C'ya.... Oh well, can't waste time and cry about it.... Figures, probably the only f'n thing I'll be "right" on ......
  19. Screw it....sounds like a deal to me......Hell, I will go.... I have a cousin stationed over here and can fly family in fairly inexpensive....or at least that is what she and all of my aunts/uncles have said and done....it would be a great excuse to go see her and the Big Red.......as far as the crowd....been too a lot of bad places and games following NU and survived.... so people are a-holes, keep quiet, and go about your business.... I hope this gets done.....only, IF they agree to come to Lincoln for a non-conference game.....home-home....

    Glenn

The key stat here is "average"....... the fact that Marlon has maintained a higher yd/carry ave. (almost an entire yard more) and has 247 more carries say a lot.....typically, the lower number of carries helps "inflate" a player's average due to a couple of big runs...... but to carry the ball almost 400 times and still average 4.8 yards a carry.....not too bad..... I will not trash Marlon at all....he has developed into a ver solid RB... not to say that Glenn couldn't be a great back too.... injuries have just kept him down.... he should consider sitting out spring ball and get healthy....especially if the offensive scheme doesn't change a lot....he shouldn't miss out on much X-O, just reps....but if could mean the difference of him every being a factor on this team and career.
  21. This was the 3rd QB that Brian Monson (Big Red Report) mentioned on 1620 yesterday.... He said that Britt was from the same school as Rippy and that he thought NU would get a serious look from Britt.. Let's hope one of the 3 QB's decides on NU Renfro Britt Wilson (from Arkansas)
  22. A big Three Days Grace fan......."animal I've become" "Pain" Also loved the "Crash test Dummies" reference........... "Superman Song" and "mmmm"
  23. Heard on 1620 that this kid was a GT committ and now a decommitt..... Brian Monson (Big Red Report) mentioned him today as a target and a potential sleeper...
  24. Tommie is my favorite husker of all time on offense (Mike Brown on D)............the things that he did were unbelievable....... his numbers are staggering..... He was a leader... I still remember getting into my car after class at UNL the day we signed him...... he was definately one of the guys with the hype that "lived up" too it... I do agree with the assessment that his supporting cast helped tremendously....the "pipeline" was defined during those years and obviously his RB's were some of the best in school history.... I just finished watching a couple of Crouch's youtube videos and Frazier's also.....both give me goose bumps...they were awesome, and NU was lucky to have both of these guys..... Frazier was stronger and seemed to "will" his team to victory... Crouch was so much faster and better in open field...... Great debate....... I am NOT calling for he glory days, but I absolutely love to watch "option" football at it's best.... whether it was NU, OU, or even CU with Hagen......if run correctly, it is extremely tough to defend....
