  1. I would "trust TO" and give him the "respect he deserves".......the same thing people suggested to me, many times during the past few weeks, whenever I brought up the importance of this decision..... we will have to see who can follow their own advice.... I don't think it's going to come to that though.... I am pretty sure that BC's era is over....
  2. The same people who for some reason aren't interested are probably the same fans who said "who" when Urban Meyer's name was mentioned last time we looked for a coach..... the fans who really don't get a close look at what a coach does...they only go by name and school recognition..... Paul Meyer can f'n coach....flat out.....
  3. Thank you Mo........ good luck at the next level....... You will be misssed.
  4. If there is going to be a change, this is my guy !!! Has been all along....... If not BC (done deal), then bring on Paul Johnson and hire a great D-staff....
  5. Huskertrucker....are you lost....... We are not talking about the "past" here.....we are talking QB's withing the West Coast offense..... which would include Daily, Taylor, Keller, Ganz....... what in the heck are you talking about.. Do you honestly think I don't realize how many GREAT qb's we have had during the days past....OMG..... This topic is WCO....not about the past great qb's in the option offense I am stating that if you let a pro-tpe qb spend time in this system, he would flourish big time.....almost exactly what Taylor and Keller have said, and they would probably know more than us....
  6. Once again, I am saying the same thing over and over..... What would a "bue-chip" QB and top-notch WR be able to do in this offense if they had the time to learn.... that means redshirt, backup/reserve role as a RSFR, and after studying and learning for those 2 seasons, explode onto the scene for 2-3 years...... We have had very, very average athletes at QB and one actually was Big 12 POY....... Ganz is an average "athlete" who knows this system, so he does well "within this system"..... Blast BC is you chose for his statement....which, yes, should have been stated with much more class towards Ganz, but the whole system philosophy is the absolute truth and if you argue that, you just have a "closed-mind" toward BC.. This offense can and does work...... every team can implode once/twice during a season and not play well at all....called "sports".... Now, don't blast me.... I am not saying keep BC, I am just stating opinions concerning the offense....
  7. Meeting will be Saturday .....we all know that, but IMO opinion (and Damon Benning's).... TO has too much respect for Nu basketball and realizes the NU-Creighton match-up and will not announce anything until late Sunday/Monday... I don't have a clue, but I am guessing we will not know anything on Saturday...... The local media is also saying that the UNO play-off game deserves some respect, and that a press-conference concerning NU would not be a good idea on Sat..... Just rumors from media....
  8. I am going to take "both" sides of the fence with this one.... I almost started a topic on this..... I have been on the fence for a long time here..... Reasons to support BC: 1. I truly think Pud was the main reason people did not want to fully accept BC...they were mad at Pud 2. Most of his players support him....especially after his "initial"year....and his initial year was a change and we all know how "humans" accept change. 3. He has done great charity work....raising thousands and thousands of $$ for breast cancer. 4. In year 2, he got NU back on tract a little and beat Michigan in Alamo...and order restored rang throughout husker nation.... His team "played" for him... 5. In year 3, he won the North, and took a juco qb to the Big 12 player of the year....played on New Years Day.....1st time in awhile.....Once agian.....I don't think playing on Jan. 1 is a failure 6. He still hasn't had a "great" QB in his system for any length at all..both he recruited flamed out. What would a "stud" do after a red-shirt year and a year of playing time to get the system down. * don't give me the garbage about "play-book"..... If Taylor can learn it in 2 years....c'mon.. 7. In regards to this year.....STRUGGLED big time.....but if I remember this summer's post correctly, many on this board were very, very worried about the schedule.....read yesterday in Omaha paper that NU's strength of schedule is #5 in the country.... We knew the possibilities.. - Beat Wake on the road with "guts" - Lost to then #1 and perennial power USC.....got caught up in hype - Lost to #2 KU on the road and #4 MU on the road - Lost to #9 Texas on the road , and actually had a great chance to win - Absolutely blew "rival" KSU out of the water... 8. Unless you get lucky, with a Stoops, or have a hot-bed like Florida with Meyer..... all the experts think a coach deserves 4-5 years to get program going.... We did win the North and 2 bowl games, with a chance at a 3rd... during this "rebuilding" 4-5 period..... short of a NC, I am not real sure what could have been expected. Now to the OHTER SIDE OF MY FENCE Reason to be anti-BC 1. I feel as if he had NO clue about Nebraska when he got here, and is extrememly arrogant. 2. Does not seem to respect TO at all...... I think BC even believes that he is "better" than TO 3. Has led NU to worst losses in history TT and KU.... 4. Has not had the guts to fire staff, when obviously it was well warranted. 5. IMO, doesn't use his young talent wisely.....Paul, Culbert, Thenarse.....burned red-shirts for nothing 6. Alienated Husker nation during the past year, with all of his BS 7. Made some extremely "dumb" calls during important games...(but that is the case whenever a play doesn't work, no matter what coach or team) 8. I think BC is ready to move on .... and escape the rabid, passionate fans on NU..... I actually think he believed this would be easier than Oakland.....and he had no clue. I am not looking for arguments or attacks, I am on the fence and just thought I would throw food for thought on the topic...... I am just really trying to root for my team no matter what, support TO, and patiently wait until Sat. - MOn.
  9. I'll take my best shot, without a lot of thought.... Worst case: finishing with a similar record, getting smoked at home by VT on ABC....if with BC, we here the same ol' song and dance and have to read all the same stuff on this board.... and TO losses credibility by retaining BC...... no bowl... and sell-out streak ends when KU beats NU for the 3rd time in 4 years... ....... finishing with the same scenario with a new coach.....Bo may say things to make the f'n hillbillies and throat-gate look like a Disney movie....or Gill brings in a 75th ranked recruiting class, etc... Best case: I really can't disagree with Hunter.....10-3 and winning the North, very solid bowl game such as Holiday..... Beating VT soundly in Lincoln, KU in Lincoln, and MU in Lincoln.....Holding Tech's offense somewhere under 35 points and coming out of the OU game without a coaching "remark" or a player assaulting a "rough-neck"..... TO looks like a genius for keeping BC or bringing in the guy who helped this team back into the top 15....... We all buy/or dig out our "order restored" shirts... and finally, yes, we get the crap out of KSU, making Josh Freeman 0-3 vs our Huskers...... and having BC (probably unemployed) text message Josh..."UR stupid"..
  10. Thanks hskrnokc I too would like to wish everyone on this board a Happy Thanksgiving. We in the USA are very lucky to have the opportunities that we have. God Bless the people serving across the nation and across seas, who are unable to spend the holiday season with their families... Too all on this board....we may not always agree on how to fix the problems of our beloved Huskers, but we all have the same goal in mind, and that is the success of our very proud program...... Here's wishing each of you and your families a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
  11. Is this also saying that over 1/2 of Hukser Nation would then in turn "not trust" TO......not trusting TO would be un-husker-like, huh.... everyone keeps saying that we need to trust TO and give him credit and respect (at least in response to my posts saying how big this decision is).....and now you all are saying that if he sitcks with BC.....it would be terrible, blah, blah, blah....what happened to "trusting TO" ...... or is it trust TO ....only if he does exactly what "you" want..... "you" is not a reference to any single person on this board or response, but is used as a "general reference"..... I really truly try to not attack anyone personally....
  12. Hunter.....I am sure the Alabama statement wasn't just refering to the 1 year Saban era...Alabama has been a revolving door since the "Bear" retired........ similar to "TO" stepping down..... I have made this comment 100 times.....programs and fans who don't show patience pay the price.... If OU doesn't get lucky with Stoops, they will still be mired in a 18 year drought (10 as it was).....10 is a lot more than 4 (BC) I have a question for "restored order"......did you pin name come from "order restored" phrase, which came from the bC era.....how quickly the feather turns.... I am telling you, this hire better be great and lucky, because no one in husker nation has patience...... the glory days are over, and anyone who thinks we can jump right back does not have a clue about NCAA sports......not the MLB-NFL....can't buy a new team each year....called "rebuilding".....can only rebuild with time...
  13. I totall agree with you MUtiger......he is very special...... this is a serious question to you, not a "jab"..... Do you think that he will stay at MU all 4 years, or does he bolt to the NFL after next season? Honest question.. The kid has Ted Ginn type of talent, and I just don't see him staying in college 4 years..... Being a Husker fan, I hope he goes pro.....being a college football fan and a teacher/coach, I hope he stays all 4.
  14. I would hope to think that you aren't referring to my posts..... because, yes, I have been around long enough, and yes , longer than you by a bit......... I suppose you didn't buy into the order restored shirts that were the HOT item just 2 years ago...... I am with everyone on making a change, but don't spout off stuff about how you know Husker nation has "patience" because all of the proof says differently....... TO was the only one Husker nation had patience with, and it wasn't all pretty along the way....if you can remember that...during the early-mid 80's when we got smoked by Miami, FSU all the time..... Hell, he was told that if he didn't win the Bluebonet bowl, he would have been fired..... once again, if the "us" as referring to Husker Nation was a hint that at my post, you really don't have much of a clue, becuase sometimes, the "us" are the one's who haven't been around the block enough... Show me where the patience has been, and I will agree..... and don't try to tell me that after the Michigan win, and the NORth title that "most" of Husker Nation thought that bC was truly the man..... if you disagree, just do some research on past posts on this board earlier this spring, summer, and fall..... Okay, my rant is over.....and if your post wasn't directed at me, then I truly apologize for the above rant, and accept the fact that I misjudged your post....
  15. HUnter.....nothing personal, because I don't totally disagree with you, but please go back and re-read the VERY 1ST LINE OF THIS THREAD.......we are not discussing whether or not a change needs to be made..... you can find that arruement on about 40 other threads...... this one is concerning the decision that TO is about to make and HOW BIG IT IS !!!! I don't believe that Husker Nation has the patience to give ANYONE more thatn 3-4 years to win.... Hence, if TO's guy doesn't win....revolving door it is..... That is what we are trying to discuss on this thread......
  16. Hunter..... I agree and disagree slightly with you assessment.....absolutely, we should all get tired of watching 500 + yardage and giving up 45 + points....yes, coaches on the defensive side need to go.... Coz, Elmo....gone (mid-season at latest).... My question then, if BC would have fired Coz earlier in the year, would we all given BC teh benefit and the "patience" to continue to build... Look at Taylor after only 2 years in system.....Even Keller says the reason Ganz is playing so well is because he knows this system inside and out...... In another post, I mentioned I would like to see what would happen if you had a "Big-time" QB have 3-4 years in the system....what kind of numbers.....What if we had "big time" WR (other than MO)......this group is average at best and still are able to perform in the system.. Hell, people were calling for BC long ago..... I honestly do not agree that Husker Nation, yes, the same Husker Nation that I am PROUDLY a part of, has the patience to give anyone 4 years, if we don't WIN.. Hell, we won the North last year, BC revamped, and beat Michigan in year 2, won the north in year 3, and struggled this year..... Do people actually believe that if a "new" coach hasn't won the North within 2-3 years like BC did, that we will all say "that's ok"...... I disagree........hello revolving door , unless some guy works magic and comes in a wins the north within 2 years...... This why the decision IS THE BIGGEST IN PROGRAM HISTORY AND FUTURE.... I am not saying to keep BC, I am just saying that I am extremely worried bout the revolving door effect....
  17. If things hold true (OU trailing big in 4th qtr)....... does this hurt the Big 12, especially NU? I am not suggesting, I am actually askng people who follow a little more closely than myself... Possible scenario now that only Big 12 champ get BCS.... during the last week, everyone felt that the champ is automatic, but the runner up (MU/KU) would still get a BCS, freeing up another slot for the NU/CU winner. Of course, NU must win 1st, but now I can only see 1 BCS team...... the winner of the South will have at least 2 losses, and if the south would beat KU/MU, I think that the loser would drop low enough, especially KU, because national media can't wait for a reason to drop them...... Does this hurt our chances at 6-6 of getting a bowl bid, due to records and selection process?
  18. just like everything in life, you aren't going to win them all.....but just today..... We all know thow great Reggie Smith (OU) is (OU-NU)....... How about Maclin for MU (think it was NU-MU) and didn't Ashlee Palmer decommit on signing day (left NU to Ol' Miss)...he lit a few guys up today.... I still think ***'s mean a little bit....... Yes, coaches need to develop, but certain guys are naturally great athletes.... just like the 3 mentioned above... I know that we have had guys that we "got" at the last minute, so this isn't a "feel sorry for ourself" topic, just interesting to see these guys play and just think "what if"....
  19. I thought he played well, but thought the flip was crap....... This kid has fought trouble the last 2 years, and still seems to be a little out of control.... It didn't even look like Coach Ball even said much to him about the 15 yards that cost his team the PAT....... if the weed issue is true, then we don't need nor want this kid....yes, I know all kids do illegal things....drink, drugs, etc ...., but if he is consistantly in trouble, it will probably continue........ I also heard Macovicka mention a younger and better brother....this would be the only reason to recruit Ronnell....to keep the Grixby pipeline going in hopes to sway younger brother.
  20. For everyone who wants Bo, this isn't very good news.... I would be okay with Bo, but right now, I really don't have a "clear cut" choice.... There are a lot of guys whom I could be happy with, but every one of those guys make me nervous... I am not sure there is a "can't miss" guy.... but back to the topic......If Miles leaves for Michigan, which appears to be a strong possibility.... One wouldthink that Bo would be 1st in line for the LSU job....considering they love his defense and he knows the kids, system, ect.... As of today, Bo is also probably 1st choice of Arkansas.....Bo is very familar with the SEC and Big 12, so he may have options....Wtih Arkansas and Michigan officially searching, if NU wants Bo, you would hope that the rumors of the "behind the curtain" deals are accurate, of Dr. Tom may wait a little long by giving everyone else a full week head start.
  21. I hope you guys are right, and my rumor was wrong........ I remember that guy who told me was our local radio announcer who covers Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska high school football games....... He told me this very late in the year, and he probably is full of sh!t......hope so... remember, I said it was "rumor".......if this kid is out there, and in good standing, I say we get him.....
  22. yeah........ I guess that is what I get for basing my decision on just "watching" him help Augurn win the title on tv last year...... At the time of that "post", I thought.....wow....wouldn't it be nice.....but, as the saying goes.....can't judge a book by it's cover...... Heck, that would suck to have such a "talent", but if he was detrimental to the team...... too bad for Auburn and for Troy........remember.....as I stated in the "post"..... the "dismissal" thing is a rumor, but I think the truth.... Can't explain....other than I "screwed" up my assessment.....but hey, that will happen about 20 more times just today alone
  23. My first Husker game was NU-OU.....when Mitch Krenk caught the "bounce" pass from Gill-Fryar-Krenk...... Nu held on to win ...when Billy Simms (I think) fumbled very late in the game at the NU 10 yd line....crowd stormed field...... I was about 12 years old, and attended with my grand-parents (NU fans) and their best friends from Oklahoma City (OU fans and season ticket holders)....... the tension in the car ride home was absolutely nuts....2 grown couples refusing to talk to each other for approx. 2-3 hours....awesome
  24. Wow, we had Lawrence Taylor ....... you meant Lawrence Phillips..... I know it was a typo....nothing personal.... See, I do think that the next decision he makes means a lot more to this program than any in the past....this program has slipped tremendously becuase of some of those past decisions, but if we indeed want to escape this cycle that we are about to embark in, then the next HC must be successful.... Our image is tarnished more than ever, and another 3-4 year cycle of less than stellar football and disgruntled fans certainly will not help.... If we get into this runt too deep, it may be a horribly long time before the "order is really re-stored"..... Folks, this next decision is BIG.....We need to win and win consistently for at least a 4-5 year period to get credibility back.... I understand that the glory days are in the past and the time of "domination" is long gone with parity, but we need to at least string 4-5 years of top 10 - 15 finishes together before we get out of this "national funk".....Face, if we struggle for another 3-4 years with the "wrong" hire, this time-tabel will be even longer than what we think..... OU was down 10 years....Gibbs, Schnellenberger, Blake.....before they came out of it with Stoops......are any of you willing to sacrifice another 6 years to reach the OU comparison....If not, you realize what I am talking about !!!!!!
  25. On a 'lighter" note, if you would put him in the middle of the field and let the defense tackle him one by one.....he would probably only get hit 5-6 times.....HA HA...... you know Ruud would be a step late, McKeon would whiff, etc...... just kidding.....bringing a little humor to a very serious situation.
