  1. NU #5 - not bad. OU deserves to be #1. ND #4 - thank you. I don't know how many Husker fans feel this way but I have a great respect for OU and when they're playing anyone but NU I cheer them on (after the Gator bowl add in Clemson to the exception list).
  2. Hate? Yes! They have all the money in the world to support their football team. They have all the national media drewling over them. They can get almost any athlete they want. Any coach would love to coach there. My jealousy leads to hate. In my opinion there is nothing worse than watching/listening to Lou Holtz go on and on about how good ND is even though they have losing seasons. My God. Ok, I better stop typing - my hands are trembling and my heart is pounding. Hate? Damn straight!
  3. That's a good prediction. It sucks that ND is going to go far and away with the point total though. Weiss will help everyone catch up. I agree that ND will take #1. They were too good for too long in the early years. I do like seeing two big12 teams in the final 5.
  4. They are pretty funny, Bama fans aren't very happy, one dude goes on about "12" NC's and someone else calls him out on it. Hilarious. This was one of the best quotes that I found: That was a great night in 1996-95 Still burned in my head are images of a confused looking Spurrier with his visor half cocked and his hair all messed up. It was wonderful. All the "experts" saying how Florida was too fast for us and that we couldn't compete on natrual grass.
  5. If you really want to confuse someone buy a pad of $2 bills. I've used these before - really makes for interesting conversation. I've gotten at my bank (you have to order in advance). No one believes they're real. Stamp your orange paw on these - talk about making an impression. Here is a link to an online company. I would guess most banks will do this. http://www.moneypads.com/products.html
  6. Smart move by Callahan. Saved the shutout. I will have to say that was the first time during that game that I cheered... Thank God that era is over.
  7. That is pretty cool. Found myself picking my nose. Oh what a camera can catch.
  8. Good point. From what it sounds like he is one heck of an athlete. It will be interesting to see how much time he gets in the spring game. Is it April yet?
  9. Voted Compton. I think he will have a great year. I would have voted Stein but I think the competition for the front four remaining spots will be high. I think Carl will have move guys in and out quite a bit. Linebacker is pretty wide open.
  10. I agree - I hope they redshirt a lot of guys just like they did this year. I wonder what walk-on player is going to make the most impact. We really do not know too much about the walk-ons who redshirted this past year. I'm sure there will be a jem in there somewhere. Also - how many walk-ons do they invite this year?
  11. Bruno - that's just scary - not that there's anything wrong with that...
  12. I would guess NU would end up around 5th. The first 20 years will really hurt out numbers. ND will probably end up #1. I'm sure they'll find some hanging chads, figure in the number of television appearances, or figure in the national rankings at the beginning of the year (and ignore the rankings at the end of the year). All kidding aside - and I hate to say this - they probably deserve it.
  13. I think they should bulk Q back up and use him in the short yardage situations. He was tough to stop a couple years ago when he was bigger. I then believe Helu and Mendoza could share the backfield responsibilities. I still think Collins will get some carries. They're all talented - it all comes down how well they pass block and hold on to the ball.
  14. i don't think they even had a sell out till two years ago and even when i was last there it was still fairly empty twords the top. I do not think that is true, and you are missing the point. We are not Nebraska, OU, etc (see earlier), but you do not get to start there. That is life, you build. You guys could afford some crappy years, because you have generations of people now who live and breather your football. If you sucked for a long time, it could go away, but that is hard to do when you are Nebraska. Just do not assume we cannot improve. We do have very nice facilities, a lot of recruits seem sold on them. They are a little smaller than NUs, but they are newer and football only, which I understand is another difference. At KU now, The gameday environment is really very nice, and the crowds are good. We now have the makings of a very good fan base. Also, the fact that you sold out 30 years ago is cool, but it makes little difference on what the gameday environment feels like. You do have an awesome environment, but the fact that our games were sold out when I was a baby is not selling that many recruits. The fact that it is cool probably sells more, and it is getting pretty cool in Lawrence, so that is progress for us. We are not likely to out tradition you anytime soon, but that is not how we can win on Saturdays. We don't want to be you, recruits who will only play for a ;legendary program won't pick us right now anyway, so playing the "tradition" that is not a good strategy for us over the next 10 years. We want to be a better Kansas than we were, and in that regard we are progressing mightily. It's a lot like life, you make yourself better and don't try to be what your not. We can be a good football school,a nd already are proving that. No question for it to be credible it must survive longer than it has. No one really knows for sure if that will happen, but our investments in the program help make that a lot more likely. If any of you boys want to come tailgate next year, if my company does not ship me by that time I am happy to host you. Even Bruno, as long as he is not overly fabulous. It's too bad many of you cannot relate to what the baseline is for comparing and seeing an improvement, but I hope it never returns for you to see.... "You guys could afford some crappy years" - we've had a few pretty bad years (by our standards) and to be honest I wouldn't wish that on anyone, including KU. I don't agree that the games that were sold out 30 years ago do not matter now. The sold out streak is who we are as a fanbase. Almost every recruit, when asked why they chose NU, says something about the passionate fans, the facilities, the coaches, and the education. I do agree that KU has been on the rise. I think it's good for the Big 12 (especially the north). I'm all for it. Really there is only one program, Colorado, that I dispise (no it's not a rivalry no matter what they say). The only concern is that history has a bad habit of repeating itself - hopefully KU can overcome its history.
  15. I believe they use the $2 wherever they travel to show the hosts how much of an economic impact the Clemson fans have. Pretty good idea.
  16. Wouldn't have expected anything less from the classy Clemson fans. I'm guessing you could have been a millionaire if you wouldn't have put out the cease request. Great to see great sportsmanship is still alive in college football.
  17. Has KU even sold their stadium out 297 times in the history of the program?
  18. That's why TF is #1 and Crouch is prolly not in the top 5. I'm just sayin' Crouch was maybe a better runner in some respects. Exactly. Crouch won the Hypman. If he's not even in the top 5 at NU then I would consider that overrated. Don't get me wrong, I think Crouch was a great qb at NU. One heck of an athlete.
  19. Let's ask Miami what they thought of Crouch. I know - not the same O-line but still I have to believe Fraizer could have led that team. Also, Fraizer would never have run home to Florida after finding a lesser qb had won the starting job. Just my opinion. Crouch was a great athelete (no question) but not near the leader as most of the guys on the suggested list of qbs.
  20. How are all of these dissapointments? It just shows that the "experts" are terrible at preseason polls.
  21. Touchdown Tommie Fraizer. No question. Berringer - Respect. Ganz and Taylor - effort. Tagge & Gill - old school great. Crouch - overrated. Lee, Witt, Spano, and Green - future!!!
