  1. I have no problem with Keller getting the nod last year. What I have a problem with is that once it was obvious that Keller was not going to be a positive difference maker the coaching staff did not give Ganz a shot. Additionally - last year's failure was not a result Keller - it was a result of poor defense. Blame Coz. Blame anyone and everyone related to the defensive effort.
  2. Preseason rankings at this point are just stupid. I guess they give us something to talk about but they are, in general, meaningless. If the "experts" cannot figure out who should be in the Big 12 championship, BCS games, and the championship game after a full season of playing football - how in the hell is anyone supposed to know who should be the top 25 right now?
  3. I need someone to take my place as I will not be able to attend the spring game. I plan on going down to the K-State spring game. A buddy and I have been alternating spring games the past few years now - we went to Bo's first spring game last year so it's my turn to go to manhattan. I'll be the guy in my husker overalls - the red dot of sanity in a pond of purple kittens. Aggieville is a blast though.
  4. I object to kicking a team when they're down - unless it's Michigan or Colorado!
  5. A lot of focus in the secondary in recruiting. The spread offenses probably have something to do with that. What are there like 5 or 6 secondary guys in this class? I still think that QB out of California (Martinez) will be competing for the QB job in a couple years.
  6. Was last year's spring game sellout an anomaly? Bo's first year as coach created a lot of excitement. Can we expect another 80k this year?
  7. Burst vs. stamina. 2008 vs. 2007
  8. Quick Bio: Husband and father of 3. Mechanical engineer (south dakota school of mines & technology). Avid husker fan and golfer. 2008 got my first Husker tattoo. Also 2008 is the first year is was successful with my new years resolution - to wear something Husker every day of the year - did not miss and haven't yet this year. GBR 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Born a Husker fan and will die a Husker fan. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? God - he's a Husker fan too. 3) Where are you from originally? Columbus, NE 4) Where do you live now? After moving from state to state - back in Columbus, NE 5) Favorite Husker memory? Attending the welcome party, in Lincoln, for the Huskers after their '94 championship and the 2008 CU game (I've never hugged so many men). 6) Worst Husker memory? Being the last fan to leave the stadium after the Okie State game in 2007. Ugh. 7) Number of home games attended? around 25 8) Number of away games attended? around 10 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Husker shoes with my red overalls - freaking awesome. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) North stadium where my season tickets are. I'm surrounded by great people. 11) Favorite all time player? Rozier but Henery is making a place in my heart. 12) WCO or Option? Option 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Pederson - a necessity to get where we're at in 2008. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie all the way - except I prefer the pre-revamped Herbie. 15) Favorite Husker play? Henery CU fieldgoal. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Bud 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Just typed in huskerboard hoping there would be something interesting - found the best board on the net.
  9. I don't think NU should be in the preseason rankings. We didn't finish in the top 25 plus we lose Ganz. If we can pull off the w in at Va Tech - then obviously we'll be deserving. IMO until we can beat a ranked team we should not be ranked.
  10. From the stories I've read it sounded like Lucky had a tough time with the whole college life. I'm sure part of that was the football expectations he had coming in. I wish him the best and thank him for giving his all the last couple of seasons. Does he end up being another Buckhalter? Decent at NU (behind Dan the fullback Alexander) but very solid in the NFL.
  11. I definately will not miss #300. Too bad it's not a more high profile game. It would be nice to have that on national television. Anyone think the sellout streak will be broken? I know it's been discussed many times but now that we have Pelini at the helm I for one feel a lot more confident it will not happen soon.
  12. Tebow is good enough to make iowa state an average team.
  13. I think we should have Callahan come in as a high-paid consultant to help us figure this qb thing out.
  14. I don't think the question is whether the big 10 would want NU but would NU want to join the big 10. It sure would make it a lot more difficult to make fun of the conf. if our beloved Huskers were a part of it. What conference could we make fun of then?
  15. Bo is not dumb. Neither is the Oz. They both knew what they were getting in to and know what it will take to keep this family together. Last time we gave an extension and raise we went into the crapper (getting back to the plumber story). Let him prove himself then give him the raise...
  16. I get the idea but I don't get why you would bench the group that got you here. Show them the respect that they're due. I am a little concerned that Wats is going to feature Lucky for the pro scouts. This would also be a mistake. We need this bowl victory - at the end of the season 9 wins sounds a whole lot better than 8. semen jelly? Are you kidding me? I might have to bring that one out at x-mas dinner...
  17. Letting him play is not that big of a deal. He was sober with a bunch of drunk guys in the car. I would prefer a kid do that then let one of his drunk buddies with a good license drive. Nothing to see here - move on.
  18. I remember how excited I was after NU went to the Cotton bowl - I had very high expectations for '07. We all know what happened (can we say Okie State?). One pretty good year does not make a program turnaround. I will feel like we're on the right track if we can see improvement a few years in a row. We still had some pretty big failures this year (Missery and Sooner red). Not trying to sound too negative especially since I'm one of those husker fans who truly thinks we're going to go undefeated and win the title every year. Just trying to keep a level head...
  19. Really the only team who has a right to complain about not getting adequate respect is TX.
  20. Before I write anything I want to choose my words very carefully. Appears the lack of football every Saturday has created some animosity amongst the posters. This thread leaves me with the question - are there any teams in a BCS division with winning records over every opponent (seems unlikely)? If not, who would have the fewest number of opponents where they trail in the series?
  21. I hope OU wins. I got really sick listening to the announcers of the SEC game - they were gushing over the SEC. If OU wins and TX wins it will validate the Big 12. It will also start up the conversation regarding TX sharing the title.
  22. Hey guys - we do not yet deserve respect. This just in - we haven't beat a ranked team in how long? Do we all see improvement? Absolutely. I believe we need to be able to beat a ranked team before we can actually be ranked (I think there's some logic wrapped up in there somewhere...). GBR
  23. I don't get this uproar with the lack of black head coaches. It is no one's right to be a coach. It's a job. People get hired for many different reasons. With regards to Gill not getting the NU job - TO was looking at the big picture and the future of the program. If he passes on Bo last year and instead hires Turner - what is our backup plan if Turner does not turn the program around in 4-5 years? I'm sure, in the meantime, Bo would have been hired by a big-time football program and would not have been available. By getting Bo we now have a backup plan if Bo cannot turn NU around. I believe Gill would drop any coaching job in the nation to come back to NU.
  24. A nice quality 4 quarters would go a long way to showing the earth that Nebraska has indeed improved. The game against Colorado didn't really do anything except provide some great football entertainment (and a near death experience for Husker fans - I don't think I've ever hugged that many men in my life). I think the program has momentum - now let's keep it going and win on Jan. 1 then sign a top 15 class in Feb. GBR
