  1. Those are both five loss teams. Iowa is 7-5, and Miami is 6-5 with a game today vs. Pitt. You see the problem in that? We've beat no one with any kind of resume. 10-3 seems awful to me because it means another year stuck in this endless loop of mediocre NU football. But if we lose and go our trademarked 9-4, my head might explode. Neither has me giddy.
  2. I think there would be a lot of qualified coaches salivating at the opportunity to coach a team with such good history and facilities that is part of a weak division in a weak conference. And I think these same coaches get the fact that Nebraska fans are simply wanting a coach that can get the team back to winning conference titles, and not settling on 9 meaningless wins against unranked teams. Funny thing about Nebraska fans - they only think wins are meaningless. The losses are always full of meaning. That's the whole point. The wins do have meaning. If they didn't, why would we care if we didn't get them, especially against equal or more talented teams? Name me the most meaningful win we have this season.
  3. Arrogant Cotton is arrogant. This picture pretty much sums up how this staff thinks of us as fans...
  4. I mean the clock is running on this not-a-source's value to the Huskerboard community. But like Hedley said, these situations are fluid, involve a lot of people with sway, and depend (possibly) on factors outside of anyone's control. And to be fair, the guy did say on the last page: It's Saturday afternoon. If Monday noon comes around and there's nothing more concrete and no word from the AD's office, we'll have compiled a lot of unpleasant information. That this thread turned out to be click-bait would, in those circumstances, be the least of our worries. I can feel that 2015 apathy setting in now...
  5. Bahhh. We'll know by Monday if Bo is gone or not. There's no reason to wait any longer than that to have a presser, unless they want to announce Bo's resignation and the hiring of the new coach in the same PC, which would be weird. You live by the sock, you die by the sock.
  6. Not enough for my money. QB who can't make progressions: Check. Horrendous OL play covered up by Heisman-caliber RB: Check. LBs who like to run fit in pairs: Check. TEs on milk Cartons: Check. Safety who tackles Gordon like he lost both arms in 'Nam: Check. You owe me a new computer screen and cup of coffee for the part in bold. I would give you a million +1s if I could. Hate to make a guy waste his coffee. My apologies sir. This is honestly what I envisioned lunging at Gordon's feet haplessly...
  7. I was talking to my Mom back in Omaha this morning, she did not understand why I thought Bo or at least his staff should go. I tried to explain to her, Iowa has one star Sheriff no one else really, Wiseman is not a good or great running back I would say he is a C+. I would say Wiseman is about as good as our 3rd stringer if maybe even then. Iowa has and has had a great O/D line. Nebraska however has several stars, that Bo and his coaching staff seem to love to destroy so they never get a real shot at the NFL. Ferentz however seems to preserve the few he has. Iowa sends a lot of kids to the NFL, granted not a lot of super stars from Iowa but a lot of linemen. Nebraska is losing a great team this year. This team was and is special. I would name who are my fav but I will not due to the team as a whole being a great unit. I think next year we have a lot of raw talent again and some stars returning. However that being said the reason Bo or at least his staff needs to go, a crappy coach like Ferentz would of had a Big Ten Champ with these kids. I hate Feretenz I think Iowa should of canned him 6 years ago. However that being said I would say Ferentz taking all things into account including how he treat the kids I would put Ferentz ahead of Bo at this point. I hope Bo continues to change, however Bo failure to send kids to the NFL that have NFL quality says a lot. Look at this, even if we had Suh for 4 years under Bo he might be in a wheelchair and not in the NFL. He might not have been able to donate millions to the program on his signing day. I still need to chill out, I am angry not sure who to blame yet. On Suh point Bo might have said or his staff to Suh when he had a season ending knee injury (Freshman year) to walk it off, and destroy his knee or keep playing him. I dont know why or how T - Magic ended up as gimp as he did but you had a kid who had the speed to be a reciever in the NFL who is not playing on Sundays now. AWARD WINNERS YEAR PLAYER AWARD 2009 Ndamukong Suh Chuck Bednarik Award 2009 Ndamukong Suh Bronko Nagurski Award 2009 Ndamukong Suh Outland Trophy 2009 Ndamukong Suh Vince Lombardi/Rotary Award 2001 Eric Crouch Davey O'Brien Award I think our injury prevention and strength/conditioning programs and techniques need a major overhaul. Our lineman look like we plucked em from the prime rib line at Golden Corral and we continue to have problems with many, many injuries, both season-ending and of the shorter variety. It's hard to point to Suh as a product of Bo because you really haven't seen him put hardly any defensive players into the NFL. You can point to DB's, but honestly he inherited most of those when he got here. He did make it a point to recruit Fonzie in his first signing class, but really Fonzie and Amukamara are the only ones playing right now. I guess Stafford is getting garbage time. Asante/Hagg/Gomes all retired/unsigned. SJB has a bright future, hopefully. I can't tell whether Bo really made those players better or just lucked out recruiting some really talented guys. I know which way I'm leaning. It's sad, but I'd take Ferentz over Bo at this point. Kirk is pretty milquetoast, but at least he's won something of substance. Fun fact: I went to high school with Scherff. He played QB for us until he was a sophomore, TE his JR year, and only started playing OT as a senior. Dude is a beast though. Loves to bust his butt in the weight room. Should be the next great Iowa lineman in the NFL.
  8. Already doing my part. Won't be going to any games next year. Too broke to buy tickets.
  9. AR, I figured if anybody would know what's up with this, it'd probably be you, but if any other mods know, feel free to chime in. I frequently post in separated paragraphs (like so) to keep my points straight. However, lately, I've been noticing that a lot of the time when I post a new reply, somehow the site automatically deletes one of my paragraph breaks and two of my paragraphs wind up running together. Pretty easy fix, as I usually just edit and hit return again and it's fixed, but it's still an annoyance. Anybody have any ideas what's causing this?
  10. Good idea Kaz. Wins in your finale will do that to the fanbase, Zoogs. It reminds me that a lot of folks have the attention span of a gerbil. Or, perhaps, more aptly, they see us eek out a decent win against a bad Iowa team (and "decent" is honestly a pretty big stretch), see some of the positives from the game, and want to hope. They want to hope that if SE forces Bo's hand and he makes all the right moves-- Beck, Paps, Cotton, Els, possibly Garrison all gone, an innovative, proven OC and a QB coach in some form-- and gets his injured attrition back on defense, next year could finally be the year. I'm done believe Pelini will turn the corner. I'm playing probabilities at this point. I just don't think the odds are very high AT ALL that all those things break right and we finally have that magical season.
  11. I like the idea of Bo to ISU. I'd love to watch him run his beloved scheme without the benefit of the talent bump he gets here. But, hey, he'd at least be back in the Big 12, where, you know, his scheme worked.
  12. I don't want to have to drop you off at Good Will, but I will. You'll wind up being the only friend of some insane, trailer-bound hillbilly who slaps you on his palm and talks to you, Wilson-from-Castaway style. Keep your sock ears and eyes open, O Sockliness.
  13. If this is true, this is a blatant slap in the face of the fans by Barney. He probably knows we all want him gone and just wants to rub the fact they've reached their timeless benchmark for excellence in our faces.
  14. When I first saw this thread, I thought someone was joking. Come to find out, this is an actual thing. Jeez. Is this what it's come to now? Barney's the poster boy for being satisfied with mediocrity. And I'm resisting an apple-tree reference here... Ding ding ding! Winner winner, chicken dinner.
  15. And no Landlord, it did not take the biggest comeback in school history to beat OSU. It took THAT, a RIDICULOUS strip from Lavonte, and Joe Bauserman to knock off OSU.
  16. I'd say we'd hear something Monday, at the absolute latest. There's no reason to put it off longer than that. I agree today is probably our best shot. Excuse me. I've got to go carry out some... experiments on Coach Power T's toothbrush.
  17. Based on the athletes we have, it should have been damn stout this year. Pelini sucks at disguising his defense, so intelligent OCs know exactly where the soft spots will be. Ndamukong Suh isn't coming back to mask our problems. Point well taken. I do believe that the presence of Charles Jackson and Michael Rose would have made a difference. Alexander as well. Cooper's play has been pretty atrocious at times this year. Eventually, we have to stop making excuses for shortcomings and just say the proof is in the pudding, though.
  18. MO--- Really? We're operating entirely in hypotheticals here anyway, but you're going to argue we should keep Bo because A) He was one second away from a Big 12 championship and B) He could win one next year? Those are both things that DIDN'T ACTUALLY HAPPEN. Furthermore, in regards to B, that was the directive for Bo LAST year. Make it to Indy or you're gone. If we support keeping our coach based on hypotheticals and not job performance, I'm going to be p*****. How many more years of ifs and buts are we going to give Bo before he gives us some candies and nuts? There are simply many better options out there right now, and that's why I want Bo gone. I want to roll the dice with someone new, and I feel like most of Husker nation is with me. Gus Malzahn took Auburn to the NC game in his first year as HC. Brian Kelly and ND were there his 3rd year. Urb at OSU has lost 3 games in 3 years with that team, with an undefeated season and a BCS bowl to his resume. Hell, Hoke won the Sugar Bowl with Michigan in his first season. Other coaches off the top of my head with immediate success: McElwain (CSU), Sumlin, Freeze, Rich Rod, Graham, Mora. There are better options available.
  19. Osborne's two conference championships consisted of being legitimate top 10 teams and being competitive in every game. If you look back you'll see that I said I wouldn't want Bo fired if we won a conference championship in a manner where we played quality and disciplined football. Fine let's play this game. Would you fire with a CCG if we had the following records: 13-0 yes/no 12-1 yes/no 11-2 yes/no 10-3 yes/no I doubt we get Wisconsin lucky and make it in with more than 3 losses. Go. 13-0 no way 12-1 no way 11-2 this still sounds pretty good but who are the losses to and by how much? 10-3 sounds like a typical Pelini season. If the three losses are to Miami, Wisconsin and MSU, for example, and all within 7-10 pts, and then we avenge the MSU loss in the championship game, I'm happy. If we get physically abused by BYU and Miami and lose to Purdue but still make it, yeah I'd let him go. Kind of nitpicking here Landlord, and I'm on your side in this whole debate anyway, but I just scoped out Wiscy's 2015 schedule Bama (@ AT&T Stadium in TX) Miami (H) Troy (H) Hawaii (H) Iowa (H) @ NU Purdue (H) @ Illinois @ Maryland NW (H) @ Minn I don't know that I'd count on Wiscy dropping three conference games with that schedule. They'd likely need to get beaten by Minnesota and upset by Maryland, Purdue, NU, etc. If I had to put money down, I'd put it on them losing 2 or less conference games. So in your 10-3 scenario, we'd again be left out of CCG.
  20. Is this just your opinion or is this expectation rooted from info you have from someone connected with the decision makers? http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/72614-the-sock-puppet-rides/
  21. Based on the athletes we have, it should have been damn stout this year. Pelini sucks at disguising his defense, so intelligent OCs know exactly where the soft spots will be. Ndamukong Suh isn't coming back to mask our problems. This is a recurring theme for both the offensive and defensive systems.
