  1. Apparently David came out of hiding at IWCC and he's leading the team with 5 picks. Pretty dang good for someone we haven't heard of in two years. I wonder, with us losing possibly our entire starting secondary after this year, if we actually do re-recruit him. I know the question's been asked before, but now it might actually be feasible since we know he's playing somewhere, especially right next door.
  2. I wonder what AC thought of our dominance this weekend...
  3. @HUSKER FREAK... I was just thinking earlier actually, who says our yearly WTF game (ex.= ISU) has to be a loss? This could actually bode well for us...

  4. This game should be a good un. I just tuned in and the score is 14-3 OU. However, DJ Woods just caught a HUGE pass and just took off, taking it all the way from about the Cincy 20 to the OU 5. Wouldn't it be great to see the two smuggest teams in all the land fall in one day? It's very possible... I'm gonna wait to get excited just a bit though. Watching Woods make that play makes me remember how close that kid came to being N. You guys all remember that right? By no means am I bagging on our receivers, as they've been damn near spotless this year, esp. considering how the whole outside world perceived them as a weakness all off season... but imagine if we had Woods too... fun to think about.
  5. Does anyone else think this is bad? I mean, ideally for me, I wanted Texas to get exposed as a joke for most of the game, and then win in some fluky manner. With UCLA now pulling away, this hurts our SOS big time. If you think about it, after this, a win over 4-0 KSU means more than a win over Texas, given the outcomes of their respective UCLA contests. Texas was supposed to be our marquee win.
  6. Exactly what I was thinking earlier! Using our math, KSU>Whorns? Ouch.
  7. As much as I love seeing dem smug friggin Horns losing, that's not really good for our SOS. They were supposed to be our marquee W in the regular season...

  8. Well, for anyone that wants one last laugh from the Mark May ordeal, follow the link and scroll about halfway down the screen. Check out the right column, next to May's name. Read his section and tell me that's not some funny stuff. Dude = Human Link
  9. Halftime-- 27-7 AZ. Conclusion: The Suckeyes just fell off Cloud 9 that their fan base had them perched on.

  10. Cmon, Irie, that's part of the adventure. You gotta have some cojones, take your shot, (usually) take your lumps, and end up feeling like this>>> . But when it eventually pays off... SOOO worth it. Anyways, back to topic, I see use having no shot at Drew.
  11. I just read another article that said Martinez reminds the Huskies of Locker. A safety for UDub even went so far as to say "He's really, really, REALLY fast. He kind of reminds me of Locker." Well..........
  12. Should Boise go on to lose tonight, that would definitely help our cause. They'd drop out of the top 10 with a loss, which would bump us up at least one spot.
  13. Yeah, the one flaw with the polls, especially BCS standings, is that unless a team actually loses, polls usually don't take into effect close games. An OU game could win by 1, and we could roll by 5+ TD's, and the polls would probably remain the same. Especially with those BCS standings, because by then most top 10 teams will be playing similarly skilled opponents every week. It would probably take just a terrible team (think WKU, no offense) to nearly upset a team above us for us to move up with a win.
  14. Exactly what I was thinking bro, but I was thinking in a bigger sense. Think about this: Steinkuhler, Cam, David, Whaley, Gomes. Five of our starting 11 have never started in the position they played on Saturday. I didn't include Rickey, although he didn't play much last year prior to injury and has never locked down a starting job for a full season, but he has started. And a ton of reserves do not have much game or starting experience either. These guys are still green. THe same thing happened last year in the first game. These guys cannot just come together and play lights out from the get go-- that'd be really unrealistic to ask them to do. They need to get some cohesiveness amongst themselves and learn to play together. Once they get their wheels greased and the rust comes off, this is gonna be a scary D. Bo demands that much from his players. Don't start to lose confidence in them based on what they showed in the first game. I thought both David and Whaley played really well at LB for both being first time starters, and when they start to get comfortable and in the flow of things... watch out. Will's return will be welcomed, but like Zac, he may find himself out of a job when he gets back if they continue improving.
  15. The commentators on tv gave props to the Camstache! Well, given the recent articles about Troy Polamalu's hair being insured and our switching to the Peso as a base D, I figured I'd pass on a little known factoid about Cam that most of you probably don't know. Before the season began, Bo had the epic Camstache insured for 8 Million Pesos. GBR!
  16. That may be a bit melodramatic. We went through last season with one, count 'em one, competent LB in Dillard. If LaVonte David is everything Pelini says he is we should be fine. Did anyone watch the preseason Bo Pelini/Nebraska Football Show? Bo was pitchin' a serious tent for David's athleticism and instincts. And how many starts does he have at the D-1 level? How many snaps has he played at the D-1 level? Dillard, as you know, is no longer with us. That leaves us with precisely 0 proven linebackers, and the top two contenders either out for the year or a significant portion of it. I'm sorry, folks, as tasty as a strong jug of kookaid is, you don't lose all your experience in the middle of your defense and then smile about it. It may not be the end of the world, but that doesn't mean we won't feel the tremor of the earthquake when some big back starts gashing through the tackles. I don't buy this argument. If that holds true, how is it possible that true freshmen ever step on the field and contribute? I suppose Tommy Frazier never should've taken over for us in 92. Or Ahman Green in 95. Do you see my point? Just because one has never started at a level does not automatically make them ineffective.
  17. Nah, buddy, nothing wrong with what you said. I think the resentment we bear towards Texas, the officials, and the conference itself (remember all those 11-1 votes?) should work in our favor this last season. My only fear is that we won't utilize that resentment and effectively use it throughout the WHOLE season. That, and the fact that getting too aggressive could result in a litany of those personal foul flags we all love so much... Let's just hope Bo keeps the guy playing hard, but clean.
  18. And there's no reason they shouldn't be. Crick is preseason AA, Pierre could argueably be more talented than Jared and Bo's raved about his huge camp, someone is going to step up to fill the void left by big ole Suh (or possibly a combination of someones, but take it to the bank), and of course Selleck should have a studly year capping the other end of the line.
  19. And rightfully so that Brown is the more powerful of the two. He has 25 lbs. on our boy Aaron, so it's only right that he should be able to be a bit more of a battering ram. We already have one of those in Robinson, and our big play threat, Roy, leaves after this year. So, honestly, if given the choice between the two (and I know it seems stupid, since we were never in the race for Brown anyway), I'd definitely take Green. He's just a much better fit for our program at this point.
  20. Give Canes some credit, guys. If I recall correctly (and that's a HUGE if), he correctly called Cody's first start at Baylor last year. So don't drive off another dude just for being in the know.
  21. Really reminds me of that epic game Brett Favre had after his dad passed away. It's amazing guys can totally throw themselves into the game like that after something so terrible. A lot of athletes, though, will say that game time is their sanctuary, regardless of what's gone on in their lives.
  22. Double. Intentional. I watched two minutes of this kid's film, and I realize it's JUCO, but all it was was huge TD grabs. For a guy his size, I'm amazed at the way he just floats behind the corners and safeties and reels in the good deep balls thrown his way. A guy that big, if you can put it over his outside shoulder with a good throw (over the corner) is almost undefendable. That grab he made on that backwards leaping grab was pretty sweet. I want this dude on our team.
  23. Jeez, NU's trend of recrruting big... this guy is HUGE... receivers continues. How did this kid get on our radar? I haven't seen a Rivals/Scout article on us offering him lately, so I'm just curious why he's getting a profile now. Anyway, I don't care if he's JUCO... go out and GET THIS KID. He'd be another huge target on the outside, bigger than Henry, and hopefully he'd actually do something, unlike Henry. I feel bad for Will... he's just never worked his way onto the field. Props to him for sticking it out, though.
  24. *bump* Interesting comment about Chase Rome by Brian Christopherson in the LJS blog today (a comment under the Quincy Enunwa story). I thought Rome was a lock to play this year. Sounds like it's iffy though. This is what people do not seem to get. "In the Mix"= BLATANT coachspeak. It is not a good idication at all of how good a kid is actually doing.
