  1. Up to this point, I thought of Suh as an aggressive player and an undisciplined player. I would not have gone one step further and called him "dirty". The kick has changed it, for me. That has crossed a line and gone into a whole another threshold. Being a Husker fan and a Packer fan, and watching him go from the guy on my team to the guy trying to kill my team, I guess it is always a bittersweet, star-crossed experience anyway. But I've been able to respect him as a player and be in awe of his dominance. Now this.... I'm afraid I just don't have that respect anymore. Particularly since he has come out and basically been defiant about it to the end. I don't care what Dietrich-Smith was doing.... it was nowhere near anything remotely deserving that retaliation. It was a chippy game with some seriously overzealous officiating.... but that call was warranted, and just. And he never pulled garbage like this as a Husker. Yes, there were late hits and personal fouls. Nothing like this though. What makes this aggravating and disappointing at the very least is that some jerk will blame Nebraska for it, claim that that's "our culture" somehow, and our reputation will take a hit, even though he's only really become worse since entering the NFL.
  2. Block. Tackle. Catch the f-cking ball when it is thrown to you. Hold on to it.
  3. Pelinis can stay... but for the love of God, please kick Barney Cotton to the curb. We are never going to see a consistent offense again until we have people who know how to block. I'm so g'damn sick of seeing Caputo blown up back into his running back. Every single defense we play has produced numbers of significant tackles for losses... even the Chattanooga's and South Dakota State's were doing it. We've got no edge on the lines. None on the defensive side either, but at least at points in Bo's tenure, we've had some. We have to get back to owning that line of scrimmage.
  4. The Michigan State game is the problem. Up to that point, I hadn't expected that much out of this team. I think if we'd lost that game and then beat Northwestern, the record would be exactly the same, but we'd feel much differently about things. The team that showed up that day was good enough to compete in this conference... I believed that. I wanted to believe MSU was the norm. It seems to look more and more like an outlier, every week.
  5. Yeah, I forgot about the drop. The whole team had a bad case of the dropsies. And that roughing the punter call... bwah.
  6. If this team isn't that good, how can it thoroughly dominate Michigan State like it did. That's what doesn't make sense. Was that just a fluke?
  7. The special teams. I mean, who saw that coming from ANYWHERE? When was the last time we had a punt blocked?
  8. We all get volatile as a group because the highs, when they come, set us up for the fall.... the expectations go sky high and then crash whenever the bump hits. The Michigan State win made us believe. It's a roller coaster every year and the Flying Pelini brothers are the carnies runnin' the show.
  9. Program is at another crossroads. Right now, the program is treading water, and has been since 2008. It still looks a whole lot better than 2007.... but at some point, it's got to move. We're in neutral. The opponents change, the conference changes, the players change.... but the results are the same. There an impressive win, followed by a crushing blowout. There's a home loss to a terrible opponent who has no business beating you. And once in awhile, you have a great win as a home underdog. In the end, there's a 10-3 / 9-4 season, where the 9 or 10 perhaps weren't the 9 or 10 you should have won, and the 3 or 4 weren't necessarily the 3 or 4 you should have lost. One step forward, one step back, one step forward, one step back. That's what we are.
  10. Did you honestly expect a BCS bowl this year? I can see hoping for one, but did you expect one, after the schedule we were handed? Not talking about the title game... but yeah, maybe an at-large bid. Which was a real possibility until three hours ago. I thought that playing in the Orange Bowl or Sugar Bowl was a realistic goal for us.
  11. I must admit, my usual extremely contrarian point of view on this is also becoming muddled. If some stupid looking uniform is going to help us actually recruit people who can block, tackle, catch, and not fumble, well, maybe we ought to think about it.
  12. Now it's hollow. No division, no conference, no BCS, and now we're probably lookin' at a .com bowl. Nebraska is an also-ran.
  13. At this point, I'd almost like to see this get worse. I'd like to see Michigan be classless and throw a big bomb.... these guys need to feel something. Pelini needs to feel something.
  14. 12 men on the field. These are the kind of mistakes Pop Warner kids make.
  15. Well, my parents' house got robbed. What a fantastic weekend this turned out to be.
  16. And I have to work while I'm watching this. I have to help customers and pretend I'm not dying of rage inside.
  17. We weren't gonna win this game anyway.... but this flatters them more than they deserve it.
  18. Even the most technical of technical interpretations says that's not roughing. Not remotely.
  19. OK, I get it. Injure Nebraska punter = OK Brush Michigan punter's foot, who then dives like a seal = Not OK.
  20. We have to get the cheap one back. That's the only way.
  21. Sometimes I wonder how we beat anybody.... nobody else in the top 50 makes as many fundamental errors as this team does.
