  1. Good point about the big/small contributors both having to tow the line or be shown the door. Most of the players who “left” the team these past few months were not major contributors, and did not get much ink. Bo's policies seem consistent from the top of the roster to the bottom. As for our 90’s teams, I doubt if the Peter brothers, Terrell Farley or Tyrone Williams would last very long under Bo. Probably a few of the others would be shown the door as well. But I’m sure we could make do without them right?
  2. Three major contributors if you include Witt. (Remember, we only heard one side of that story). If Bo is going to keep running players off he had better pick up the pace in recruiting. Witt left on his own. He wasn't dismissed. You're in a different ball park on that one. Right. He left the team. So did Eric Crouch a few years before. But that was handled in a different manner and had a different outcome. I just saying, fine, attrite away all the good players you want. But NU better pick up the pace on bringing in good quality recruits to backfill the voids.

  4. So what, that just makes up for the 3 loss ND team that was given a Fiesta Bowl berth in 2000. What team was it that was passed up for that bid I wonder........oh yeah, Nebraska! The same year NU brought the sea of red with them to South Bend and beat the Domers their our house! Does anyone remember the score of that Fiesta Bowl? I sure do 41-17 Oregon State! I remember because as I was watching that game, after watching NU put up 60+ on an obviously inferior Northwestern team, that I would LOVE to have seen what a real football game would have looked like had ND not spoiled the party. Seriously, if your looking for sympathy from a Husker message board, I have a feeling you won't find much. Actually, the 2000 ND team was 9-2, ranked #10 going into the Fiesta Bowl. Nebraska was 9-2, ranked 9th. Should Nebraska have been in, instead? Yes. But again, as I said, no 3-loss ND team has been in a BCS bowl and won't in the future. Yes, if SOS counts for anything, NU should have gotten the nod in 2000. Given their creampuff schedule sprinkled with the service academies and other football midgets, ND prolly should not appear in any bowl played after Christmas. Ever. Generally they come into bowl season horrifically overranked, and then get exposed in a bowl they really didn’t deserve get invited to. What was ND’s consecutive bowl loss record before last season—something like 8 or 9 bowl games in a row that they lost wasn’t it? Good thing they were able to get on top of the mighty rainbow warriors last year in the Ah*blow*ha Bowl. Friggin Domers.
  5. All true. This really does suck. And yes, losing Castille hurts our running game. A lot. I can’t help but think that the Bobfather would have found a way to keep Castille on the roster. Even TO might have. Things like this, and the Cody Glenn issue from last year, make me wonder about Bo. Oh, I still support him. I just wonder if he knows how to handle things behind the scenes, subtley instead of just napalming the whole situation. It is two entirely different eras. Kids are different, NCAA actually tries to enforce some of the rules some of the time and, oh yeah, THE INTERNET. I dunno. The Cody Glenn thing was kept fairly quiet, despite the existence of that pesky Internet thing. And we only now found out about the Castille issue after he was kicked off the team. And we still don't know the details.
  6. All of the above. Plus a couple more. Use a fairly broad, yet applicable, description of the job you seek. Don’t filter out potential jobs by using too narrow of a job description. Use high quality bright white paper. No blues, light grays or any color except white. Prospective employers either make copies for distribution or else scan and email. Anything except bright white looks like crap. It’s a small thing, but every detail helps. If you can, try to use an alternate route into the company other than solely relying on the personnel dept. Give your resume to a friend or colleague in the company and have them give it to the guy/gal doing the hiring. Or just call the guy/gal doing the hiring directly. The worst they can do is refer you back to personnel—and at least they will remember you if your resume makes it past the personnel filter, er, dept. Good luck!
  7. Thanks for the explanation. I can believe it's likely true. It makes sense.
  8. Steve Spurrier told me that Green/Phillips was an effective 1/2 punch.
  9. For the sake of argument, let's just pretend the initial post was correct, mentioning the number 5. How many chances do you give someone who has repeated the same offense five times? I have no idea if that's true, but if so, I'm glad some rules are enforced. No player is above the team. For the sake of argument, mentioning number 5, I'd say it depends. If it wasn’t something public and not inherently dangerous I might keeping levying harsher penalties on him with no specific limit. Eventually he would become educated. Or spend the whole season running stairs for an extra hour per day then doing his homework outside my office until I drove him home and tucked him in. Sure, at some point, I guess the situation could not be handled behind closed doors.
  10. I’m sorry. How does this thread work again?
  11. I went to the Wisconsin-Penn State game last year in Madison. Although the game was a blow out, I had a blast. The stadium is solid and the fans were great. I'm sure most people have heard this but at the start of the 4th quarter they play Jump Around by House of Pain and the place goes nuts. So much fun watching over 80,000 jump up and down for the whole song. Frickin sweet! Yeah, Madison is a cool college town. And I’ll bet football Saturdays are a blast! A close buddy went to school there. Says it was kinda like Husker gamedays, except more beer. I could support that.

  13. That sucks. But it could be worse. I hope you are right.

  15. This is a dumb, DUMB thread. Please stop posting in it. Stop the dumbness. I win.
  16. Funny, FUNNY, stuff! At first I wondered how this related to NU football. Then I thought. Drinking. Football. Mentions Pelini. Okay, close enough.
  17. Glad to hear it. Gomes is one newcomer I thought might make a contribution. Great size/speed for a CB.
  18. B)--> QUOTE(Husker B @ Aug 21 2009, 08:46 AM) 454124[/snapback] To be fair, Bo hasn't played LSU and USC in his bowl either. Yet. But yeah, the ass kissing is intolerable. I'd put Mike Leach at number 1. He's done way more with the talent he's had to work with than any other coach. Yes. And Bo has not played Boise State either. And yes, Mike Leach has probably done more with less than any coach in the Big 12. With the possible exception of the Mangina.
  19. By contrast the Big 8 (and Big 6/7) had one consensus All-American QB and 25 consensus All-American RBs (plus another 21 All-American rushers who were not consensus).
  20. What a nuisance. No, a nuance--as in NUance--not nuisance.
  21. Yeah that is what I don't get about him, he lives in Omaha yet everything about the state, except for Omaha Steaks, pisses him off. If he is that damned pissed off about living in Omaha then f-ing leave! I understand having a job, but he has had YEARS to find a new opportunity. He hates the people in NE, he hates Omaha, he hates the Huskers, he hates everything, why stay? What a miserable person. Somebody has got to be able to personally vouch for the guy. He can't be as much of a petulant douche bag as his online persona seems to indicate. I mean, he lives in Omaha and attended UNL. He has to have at least one redeeming quality that allowed him to earn at least one friend in the state of Nebraska along the way. He does seem to spend A LOT of time on the internet, though. Maybe he doesn't get out much? I wonder who he is on this board. Dollars to donuts he is on this board, and prolly most other Husker boards. (Is there a HuskerH8ter here? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?)
