That one was on Kalu, not Gerry. If Gerry goes to the corner, the receiver in the middle of the field was open. He was screwed no matter which route he picked up.

Finally the coaching staff is using Cross in just power situations. Let him run downhill. He doesn't need to be running outside of the tackles, because it isn't his strength at all.

This has more to do with a kid just being a genuine pain in the butt than anything else. It's been nothing but drama with him since he came to Lincoln. Last Saturday it pretty much boiled over. He's extremely talented though. So I hope he figures it out, because it would be terrible to waste that much talent.

The players should never worry about the fans We'll be angry, and we'll say stupid things, but every Saturday we will be there 90,000 strong no matter what. So no, we won't give up on them. But the players should be asking if they have given up on themselves this year.

Here's the problem facing Riley .. How do you bench a captain? Riley is already looking at a mentally fragile team, and players with egos the size of mansions and talent the size of dog houses. You bench a captain, and he's only making his own personal hell that much worse. Gerry absolutely deserves to be benched, really moreso than ANY other player on this defense. I say this knowing how much I rag on McMullen, but Gerry has taken the cake these last few weeks.

Neither. This constant talk in year 1 does nothing to help either. If Riley gets fired, or forced out, there will be no coach worth a damn who will even think about coming here with no hint of job security. Any assistant worth a damn will say the same exact thing. Now should there be some assistant coach shuffling? Sure. But people really need to CTFD and go enjoy Halloween.

This team quit. No other way to put it. And it's sad that alot of the leaders are the guys who are leading the effort in showing no heart at all.

Tommy has had issues with one leg/foot all year. Then against Northwestern, he ended up hurting the other foot. So now he's got a set of bad wheels under him. Probably for his own good he needs to sit.

What about that play makes you say it's a "me play?" But the game was practically over anyway. I'm sure Collins was frustrated. Like every other game this year, NU had many, many opportunities to win these games. None of them should have hinged on a single play. When you are playing nickel coverage with a blitzing LB, you HAVE to stay in your gap as a lineman. Even more so when you're lining up as a 1-tech as Collins was on this play. Instead, Collins attempts to make a play, but washes himself out of his gap responsibility and into his blitzing teammate, leaving a gigantic hole. TBH, the Northwestern center didn't even need to lay a hand on Collins in this play. He could have let Collins just go by his outside shoulder because Collins ran himself out of the play. What is #3 Newby supposed to be doing on that play, assuming his assignment isn't to run into the back of Greg McMullen? "Well what about so and so .." Sadly, this is part of the problem with the locker room too. No one willing to accept responsibility for mistakes. Maybe a media member should ask Jack Gangwish who was to blame for this play. I bet they would get an interesting answer.

Anybody who is watching them play this year knows this team's tackling compared to last year's tackling is 80 - 90% better. They just have problems getting to the QB and coverage. Gerry is a horrendously bad open field tackler. He was last year, and it has carried over this year.
