  1. Correct. I also believe that the Northwestern game will be on BTN. Probably at 2:30. Should be announced by Wednesday. TV information for the remaining 5 games will be announced on a 6-12 day window.
  2. Some good news for those on the West Coast! BTN games will be able to "co-exist" with ABC during the 2:30pm window, which prior to this year, that time slot for B1G games were exclusive to ABC and the reverse mirror with ESPN. http://iowatubetalk.blogspot.com/2011/06/big-10-looks-to-reduce-number-of-games.html
  3. McKewon touched on it in his article, but Tyson's height & size kept many schools away. Heck, he didn't even get an offer from Solich or NW MO St.. Dobson may have a big project on his hands, but time will tell.
  4. Sipple & Sean Callahan are tweeting it as well.
  5. Besides a pair of walk on's, you would be correct. Wonder if Jamal Turner gets moved back to QB now.
  6. Per Joe Schad on Twitter: Lack of experience now is going to be huge at QB. It's going to be up to Taylor to mature and develop this summer.
  7. Current City: Ankeny, IA I've been in the DSM Metro since March of '97 Ideal place to live: either Red Oak or Shenandoah, IA as those arIdeale my hometowns. Ideal place to live: Omaha or Kansas City as I'm a Royals and Chiefs fan and would love to experience the vibe of living in a pro sports town. Work: I write contracts and maintain several reports. Best job: Hard to say, I graduated from college in May ofr 1993 and started with the company I'm with today the following August. Hobbies: watching sports and my blog.
  8. Depends on the time of year. If it weren't for sports, I could easily do without cable.
  9. You are correct that every team has to be on the BTN at least twice and has been mentioned in this thread, one of those telecast's must be a conference game. Interesting nugget about the TV selection process, twice throughout the season, the BTN can pick their games ahead of ESPN/ESPN 2 (the selection order is normally ABC, ESPN/ESPN2, & BTN). With that said, i'm sure the BTN is loving the posibility of leap froging ESPN/ESPN 2 & have one of Nebraska's marquee matchups with Michigan, Michigan St. or Penn St on BTN. Some people might think of the BTN as a "secondary channel", but it's a major cash cow for the conference and is in over 80 million homes across the country. Just like the Big 12, TV info for most October & November games (other than for previously announced Oct. night games) are announced on a 6-12 day window, but in late May, you are probably right that Nebraska's game with Northwestern has a BTN telecast written all over it. I wouldn't have any problem with all of our games being on the BTN. Like you said, the channel is in more than 80 million homes. Neither would I. I like the BTN's presentation and with Gus Johnson calling two football games and the lead announcer for basketball on the BTN, it's all good.
  10. Agreed, it makes watching the games the rest of the day more difficult.

  12. I live in the Des Moines metro and DSM wouldn't support the Big 10 Baseball Tournament the way Omaha would. In fact, college baseball gets zero coverage here.
  13. If you signed a contract to be with Dish Network for a minimum amount of time, most new subscribers have a minimum service time (normally 2 or 3 years), you'll have to pay an early termination fee to get out of your Dish Network subscription. Just pony up the $7.00 a month for the sports pack.
  14. IIRC, the media only get to see the first 10 or 15 minutes of practice, basically warmups, before having to leave.
  15. NE Nebraska (part of the Sioux City TV market) will have the Husker game on a subchannel of the local ABC affiliate (digital subchannel 9.2) and Central Iowa will have the Husker game on a subchannel of the local ABC affiliate (digital subchannel 5.2)
  16. It'll be on ABC, ESPN3.com and ESPN GamePlan. As mentioned earlier, Gerogia Tech/Clemson will be the reverse mirror game on ESPN for those having the Iowa game on ABC. http://mattsarzsport...2010/week8.aspx www.lsufootball.net/tvschedule Just discovered that for those in Northeast Nebraska, the Husker game this Saturday will be on digital channel 9.2. http://www.kcautv.co....asp?S=13344477
  17. No, it's not. Next time Nebraska plays in the reverse mirror like this past Saturday, check one of the ESPN alternates. I have DirecTV and the Nebraska game was on channel 210 or 211, not the primary ESPN channel, which is 209. The powers to be do a poor job communicating that for those with Dish Network or DirecTV that the reverse mirror game is often on one of the alternate channels. EDIT: 209 is ESPN2, ESPN is 206...my bad. RTV5 is a digital subchannel of the ABC affiliate in Central Iowa. RTV5 carries programming from the Retro TV Network
  18. The Nebraska game Saturday WILL NOT be part of the reverse mirror, Georgia Tech/Clemson will be the reverse mirror game for those getting the Iowa game on local ABC. The only way in Central Iowa Saturday to watch the Husker game will be on Mediacom digital channel 245 or the old fashioned way via rabbit ears. This was the case last year when Nebraska/Kansas & Iowa/tOSU were on ABC at the same time. It's not HD, but better than having to pay to get ESPN GamePlan for the day. My guess is that when the coverage maps are released Wednesday is that only those in the Big 12 footprint will have the Husker game on ABC. Iowa/Wisconsin will be the primary game and GT/Clemson will be on ABC in the SE part of the country. FWIW, I just checked the website for the Sioux City ABC station and their program guide for Saturday shows the game TBA. My guess would be that since the Big 10 game, as part of the Big 10's contract with ABC/ESPN, is guaranteed to be part of the reverse mirror is that the Nebraska game will be on ABC & Iowa on ESPN, but that's just a guess. We'll find out Wednesday. Here's the text of the email that I received this afternoon from WOI-TV(I sent an e-mail yesterday morning asking what their plans were).
  19. It's possible that whoever is hired COULD retain one or two coaches from the previous staff, but it's more than likely that Cosgrove will be gone next year. I haven't watched enough Gopher football to know if defense was the problem or not. Only reason why Watson & Gilmore were retained was that offense wasn't the problem.
  20. As those in Central Iowa know, both Iowa & Nebraska are on ABC at the same time and unlike last week, the Nebraska game WON'T be in the reverse mirror. This afternoon, I received e-mail confirmation from WOI that they have received permission from ABC to televise the Husker game against Oklahoma St. will be on digital subchannel 5.2
  21. Congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the way.
  22. It would appear that right now, the game next Saturday WILL NOT be part of the reverse mirror. The ABC schedule for next Saturday: Georgia Tech @ Clemson 2:30 on ABC or ESPN Nebraska @ Okie St. 2:30 on ABC, ESPN GamePlan and probably ESPN3.com Wisconsin @ Iowa 2:30 on ABC or ESPN My best guess is that the Big 12 footprint (except most of Iowa) will have the Nebraska game and that's about it for ABC coverage. Wisconsin/Iowa will be the primary game on ABC and the SE will have the GT/Clemson game. In NE Nebraska, I think that Nebraska will be on ABC and the Iowa game on ESPN. I think Central Iowa will have the Nebraska game on a digital subchannel as this was the case last year for NU/Kansas and Iowa/tOSU.
  23. If lived in that part of the state I would be peeved! NE Nebraska and the rest of the Big 10 footprint will be able to watch the Husker game on ESPN.
