  1. Pros and Cons of perspective coaches from the UF job. http://florida.scout.com/2/932226.html
  2. By Pat Dooley Staff writer Published: Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 8:23 p.m. Last Modified: Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 8:23 p.m. The trip to the hospital the night after Florida's loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game "scared" Urban Meyer to the point where he spent much of the last two weeks soul-searching and led to his decision to step down after the Sugar Bowl, according to a source. Florida could hire a replacement for Meyer, who won 56 games in five seasons, very soon after the game against Cincinnati or even before, according to another source. Meyer told The Sun on Dec. 7 that his trip to the hospital was because of "major chest pains" and that he needed "to take better care of myself." According to a source close to the situation, Meyer had been considering leaving coaching for more than a week, going back and forth on the decision. "He just doesn't have anything left in the tank," the source said.
  3. rumor on ND boards is that he was suppose to decommit and commit to FL, but don't know how the recent news will impact his decision.
  4. Star receiver reportedly high on OSU By BILL HAISTEN World Sports Writer Published: 12/21/2009 2:32 AM Last Modified: 12/21/2009 4:55 AM Darius White is rated by Scout.com as a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 1 wide receiver recruit. Sources indicated that White may have shortened his list of possible destinations to two schools — Oklahoma State and LSU. A 6-foot-4, 210-pound wideout from Fort Worth's Dunbar High School, White reportedly also has been recruited heavily by Oklahoma, Texas, Florida and Texas Tech. Jan. 2 already was a big date on the Oklahoma State calendar as the Cowboys face Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl. Depending on what White has to say during the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Fla., it could wind up becoming an even more significant Saturday for the OSU football program. White, who averaged 22.2 yards per reception during the 2009 season, is expected to announce his college destination during the Under Armour game. Accompanied by his mother and two younger brothers, White recently made an official visit to the OSU campus. He plays for the Dunbar basketball team, and it is believed that a member of the OSU football coaching staff attended Dunbar's game last Tuesday. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/arti...B1_Darius252629
  5. Visited MU this weekend. May be considering switching his commit from Illinois to MU. Correction, he has switched his commitment to MU after this weekend. Are there any dbs or athletes that are going to be switching positions?
  6. The movie was great, but was I the only one that noticed side boob? Oh yeah these guys got it dead on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78q19GuWpMw

  8. I see the same tired junk from the MU class. A lot of offensive prowess but no defense. You would think they would have learned that they need to load up on D, because their offense struggles when someone hits them in the face. Sasser is a lost, and Franklin is supposed to be good, but I really don't see anyone else on their team that can really hurt us. Offense won the game two years ago in Lincoln, when MU's defense was utterly terrible (worse than it was this year). As it stands now MU has taken 8 defensive prospects in this class, along with two athletes who may just end up on the defensive side of the ball. I don't expect MU to have a top 10 defense anytime in the future but just having a decent defense should be good enough to win most games considering the offensive firepower projected in the next couple of years. You can't compare the defense we had two years ago, with the direction our defense is currently headed. I honestly believe they are going to continue to struggle against defenses that hit them in the mouth. They need more than a decent defense because with their best team in '07 they still were not able to win the big 12.

  10. Crabtree said the reason why he isn't higher is because the level of competition he plays against is weak, and he gets blown off the ball at times. However, his school runs a 3-4. Double teams are bound to get him off the ball.
  11. Said to decide on Dec. 22 between: Mississippi State Oklahoma Auburn North Carolina Kansas State
  12. Personally, I am kinda happy we did back off from him. I think we are on to some great WR recruits (Michaelee Harris, Joshua Reese, and Willis Wright). Call me a little bias, but I'll take an athlete from FL over any athlete from any other state.
  13. From what I have been hearing Miami is only looking to take one more WR, and that they potentially have higher targets on their board. Hopefully, Lamb can bring him along on his visit. Here's video, looks expressive and a GREAT get if we can land him. He doesn't have elite speed but there is never anyone around him when he catches the ball. Edit: wouldn't mind having his QB (Teddy Bridgewater) for next year's recruiting class
  14. Levitt is under investigation for striking a player. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4743807 has to help our chances.
  15. Agreed, but his stats for that season are nonetheless impressive. In 2008, Faulk ran for 2,094 yards and 31 touchdowns adding another 1,534 yards and 14 touchdowns passing.
  16. expect him to commit to MU on the 11th when he visits
  17. He's a stud, someone who could be danger in a screen play. He is extremely fluid and you are right his skill sets are far better than someone who relies on speed alone.
  18. Source/Link please. http://www.ksdk.com/sports/story.aspx?stor...27&catid=86 I hope Bo is asking the same question. I still don't understand what one more year under Wats would really accomplish.
  19. CC is slightly better right now because of his overall speed, but this guy has better upside. He knows how weave in and out of traffic and has enough juice to take it the distance. I think the staff was high on him early but cooled when he said that he wanted stay close to home. But that did make a push for him in October. "Things change and for this Texas athlete they has come full-circle with Nebraska. In an August story, this player really wanted to stay closer to home and Nebraska was too far away. Now there might be some thought that getting away from home in central Texas might be a good idea. The Huskers have presented him with a unique opportunity to play on either side of the ball as well."
  20. I can't agree that putting a player in for a series or two is meaningful. I hope that you are right that he deserves another year because it looks like we will have him for at least one more. But unless something drastically changes I just don't see our offense improving much next year. Some problems have to do with coaching, some problems have to do with personnel, and a whole lot of problems have to do with an identity crisis. I just do not believe that one more year is going to solve any of that.
  21. i agree about lee running the option. our coaches want to have a running quarterback component in the game plan, but it's clear lee isn't comfortable doing it. (though it is worth noting that he had a key run on what should have been the game winning drive against texas). i do wish we'd quit running the option with him and i think that's a valid criticism of watson. however, since watson wasn't in charge of the offense when they recruited lee, i'm not sure what that has to do with recruiting towards a specific system. so...your main concern is that we can't get well rounded offensive players? i'm not sure what your basis for thinking that is. i think we've actually recruited pretty darn well on offense the last couple of years, to the point that we have a numbers imbalance and we actually need to catch up on defensive recruiting. obviously our offense did suck this year (for various reasons), but recruits and fans need to look back into the distant past of, say, last season to see that we really can operate a balanced offense effective in the air and on the ground. would you be happier if we continued to air it out this season just so the recruits could see the offensive possibilities? we'd probably be playing in shreveport (or worse) if we'd gone that route, but hey, it's all about the recruiting baby. got to keep the teenagers happy. Watson was here when we recruited Lee. If fact he was the OC (in title) and QB coach. I think he played major part in him getting here. This year was was not a "particularly bad year" this was a meltdown. Our offense only scored 1 TD vs. top 20 opponents; and 17 TDs vs conference foes (119 pts). That's laughable. I don't know where you get the view that Witt was going to start of Lee, because if I remember correctly Lee was the starter going into spring ball and that is one of the reasons Witt left. You make it seem as though Wats is brand new, Wats has been here, in some capacity for 4 years. And instead of owning up to his faults he says crap like 'the offensive players need to mature' and excludes himself from fault. This offense is one sick puppy and that starts at the top, and goes all throughout the recruiting process. And have you ever thought that maybe last year was the aberration? Until Ganz got in 07 our offense was average at best. Ganz, Swift, and Peterson were the reasons we were good last year. They had amazing chemistry and knew how make something out of a broken play. I don't understand how you can think our offensive recruiting has been good the last couple of years when only 5 of those guys have seen significant and meaningful playing time. Of course this is a lot of potential, but will the ever reach that potential under these coaches? my answer is no. Either Wats needs to settle down on who he wants this offense to be or we need to move on before he does more damage.
  22. We recruit for a chameleon offense, and for me that doesn't work. We recruit guys that are okay in one area but not so okay in another, and when they get here we at times coach them against there strength so they can be okay in all areas (e.g. Lee does not look look comfortable running the option, he doesn't look natural in the zone read, but we consistently push him to be okay in those areas.) My main concern is I don't think we will ever consistently get the type of players that are good in all areas. So why not establish a true identity through recruiting. Why not recruit guys for a specific system, guys that maybe lacking in one area but are good in another? And when they get here coach them to be great in that one particular area. While good traits are not mutually exclusive in players, are we ever going to get those guys here on a consistent basis? I think not. I understand changes may not happen, but they should. If we didn't have a stellar defense people would be calling for Bo's head right now. It is not a perception that our offense sucks, that's reality. All recruits need to do is turn on the TV.
