  1. Yeah this will be easier then replying to every welcome topic we are getting. It is awesome and I have never seen anything like it. So thanks to all the Big 10 fans coming over here...Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin. I have enjoyed watching all of these teams and now it will be even better since we are in the same conference now. I am looking forward to the future and I was a bit fearful for awhile, but you guys have made it so much easier to feel good about NU's decision. Thanks again and can't wait for the start of Big 10 play in 2011! You guys have all been pretty classy!
  2. The question is, will anyone cheer for Michigan? I am having a tough time answering that one, personally. I just don't think Rich is the right fit for them and if they lose then I am right...which makes me happy, because that isn't often that I am right. I like most of the Big 10 schools and I find myself usually rooting for them, so it will be even easier now. Conference first is the way it goes for me...except I have never in my life rooted for Texas though and I never will.
  3. Yeah we don't ever want to see Bo leave and then fears got started up from there. So most people figure he would only leave if tOSU came knocking on his door. I know I don't want to see him leave.
  4. I was thinking about this too Knapplc. I think 1) Texas would be able to do more strong arm tactics against Pac 10 schools then they could against SEC. 2) They would have a little easier competition then in the SEC and 3) like you said, they would be able to bring in the Texas 4 a little easier then they could with the SEC or Big 10. I still think if Texas thinks they are all powerful, then they should go see how well they do against the SEC and move there.
  5. Strap on those pads deed...I will be cheering for ya!
  6. That's not accurate and you know it B-Rent. It's nothing against the University of Nebraska. Kansas and Nebraska has had close ties for many, many years. So you're saying that, as a Husker fan, you're alright with leaving a conference that your school benefited greatly from, along with ties and rivalry that started around the Civil War Days, long before our time, and your cool with what will happen to the schools that helped make you the power that you are today? I don't believe ANY of the Huskers I know are cool withg that. I say kick Texas, Dan Beebe, and the rest of the Texas schools out and start back with the Big 8 and look elsewhere to expend to 12. Screw Texas and the money ship they came in on. actually that is very very accurate and i know it. im not trying to be an ass but frankly every other school was looking out for themselves when they made those votes (ie. more money and texas joining the big 8) and now that Nebraska is looking out for itself, those same schools are begging us not to do it. i love tradition but to say that we owe any other school anything is asinine and inaccurate. if the other 7 original big 8 members can look out for numero uno then so can the member that i root for and quite simply put they should. on top of all of that, its not a matter of IF but rather a matter of WHEN the conferences realign. this has been brewing for a while now and its going to happen either now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now or so on. So you're saying, because your school doesn't have the most money (ie Texas), you're cool with them leaving to start fresh at a new conference? I don't think you're being an ass at all. In fact, I enjoy the discussion. Yes, any of our schools have the right to look out for numero uno, but is this really the best move for Nebraska as a University? And for the cost of long time rivals and relationships built? What makes going to the Big 10 better? Sure, they have cost sharing now, but what if that changes....will you leave again? And if Notre Dame comes to the Big 10, speculation is that Nebraska wouldn't be invited. Not much loyalty there, but then again, you're ready to leave the Big 12. Hmmmmmmm...... I think most of us feel for Kansas...we really do. But you have to admit that when the Big XII formed, Nebraska had this big bullseye painted on our backs from the other Big 8 schools. Tom Osborne also warned everybody about the powershift that would take place in the south's favor. The north teams kept voting for things that kept giving power to the south and now we are the ones that aren't loyal? Where was the loyalty of our supposed brothers in the north in some of these cases? How can we feel a sense of comraderie here when everyone was gunning to take us down back when the Big XII was forming? Plus, we all know why Kansas voted to have the Big XII Championship game in Dallas...it was so you could have the basketball tourney in KC. So who was looking out for themselves there? It isn't even cost sharing that is the big money deal here anyways...and frankly I don't think Nebraska has ever wanted revenue sharing anyways. The big thing is from the CIC deal for R&D. That dwarfs any money we could even dream of getting from athletics. The other point is that we didn't start this. The University said that they would listen to any offers...shoot any school will listen. Just look at Texas and how much listening they have done with other conferences. So us getting singled out is bull in my opinion. NU is just making sure they are proactive and that we are in the best position we can be in if things go down. I would expect any school to be doing the same thing, because you have to do what is best for you in certain situations.
  7. and no one here ever says "we" ...like they are actually going to be out on the field or something. She didn't say we...she said and I quote, "I cannot wait to kick their a@@." Like she is the one that will actually do it or something. I have no probs with someone saying we on the other hand.
  8. Yeah I won't hold my breath . Anyways, thanks for the post Nexus! No clue how you find this stuff haha . If this does happen then NU and MU need to stick together. I never thought I would say that in my life, but more and more I see them as friends .

    Enough!

I think the Big 12 is royally mismanaged, so we are on the same page there. I also think Nebraska has become increasingly thin-skinned. No matter the action, seems as though everyone says "That's it...last straw!" If Nebraska wasn't highly valued by the conference, no ultimatum would have been delivered. And if no ultimatum had been delivered, we all would have been crying "They don't even care enough that we're considering leaving!" We're moving to the Big 10 if the invite comes. Our feelings are hurt too bad, and we're too sensitive now to judge anything rationally at all. Hope it turns out. Well I am not happy with the whole thing. I only put my faith in TO doing whatever he thinks is best (and Pearlman listens carefully to him too). I would miss seeing us play OU, KU, and CU I have to say. I am just glad that I don't have to make the decision, because I would tell Beebe a few things during those meetings. I am also glad, because my opinion doesn't have any effect on NU's decision so I can say anything here and it won't matter haha. I get your concerns and they are always in the back of my mind. My biggest concern is everyone else jumping ship and we are the ones left wondering what happened, instead of being the ones that come out of this thing in good shape.

    Enough!

You really think you should be a MOD and be so arrogant? I've got the same concerns as C-4. This is going to be a mistake and 4 years down the road when we're busting our arses to break .500 I expect you to man up and swallow that sort of b.s. I'm glad I'm not like you. Take it easy champ. No reason to get all out of whack here. But honestly, what has the Big XII done for us since we joined that we couldn't do ourselves? Beebe couldn't run a gas station let alone the Big XII. He is incompetent and the only way we should stay is if he goes and Texas gives some concessions on things. Otherwise, we should just wash our hands of them. You can slap a Nebraska man a few times, but there will be a point where he won't take it anymore and knock you on your behind. This ultimatum we just got, to most of us, is the last slap we are going to take from these clowns. You call it emotion, but I call it not putting up with their sh#t anymore.
  11. Good breakdown, but I have a problem with his safety analysis. Isn't Cassidy the other peso guy not Thenarse? And I think he is underestimating Thenarse a little bit. Other then that it was a good read.
  12. Haha, At least your an eagles fan. Speaking of the Eagles...I just got to watch that "Invincible" movie about Vince Papale. Good stuff and I have always had a soft spot for Philadelphia people. It is always a good time talking to them. Anyways on topic...I couldn't think of anything better then to play against Penn St. If it turned into a rivalry then all the better, but I suspect it would be a pretty respectful rivalry. Which is a good thing in my opinion.
  13. So what are the winning lottery numbers schuhbdoo? You did call that no. 7 and all

  14. I like this kid...he looks pretty athletic and you can tell he likes to lay the lumber on kids. I just hope he gets a visit in during the fall, so we can really seal the deal.
  15. I would much rather get away from Texas myself. I love the A&M fans though. I find the Texas fans very obnoxious and it would be nice not to have to deal with most of them. Other then that I don't really hold a grudge against them, because Nebraska beat themselves in some of those close games. My main thing for liking the Big 10 move is the Big XII has been so frustrating. During this whole time on expansion talk...they have done NOTHING!! Which says something to me...they don't have a clue on what they are doing. Plus they want to keep the CCG down in Texas...thanks for saying we (teams in the north) don't matter and I know the teams in the north are voting for that too which is equally frustrating. We have no TV network, thanks to Texas once again...so I have heard. Sorry for the rant, but it is just frustrating to think we are in a conference that caters to the south (which is partly understandable). Back on topic though, I will take A&M, but Texas can go somewhere else. Shoot, I would actually enjoy it if Missouri would go with us...that is kinda comforting actually if that happened.
  16. Some good some meh. He does a pretty good job of analyzing the teams but often it feels like he is just reporting stuff that he got from elsewhere rather than really digging in to find his own information. This is how I feel about the ESPN bloggers...there just isn't much meat to their articles. The good part is they write about everyone in the conference, so you can get a general idea of what is going on in other programs.
  17. I swear Sipple reads Huskerboard. The bolded part was already said by a few of you...that is why this place rocks
  18. People randomly dancing...freaks me out a little bit. It ranks up there with close-talkers and people that get right up next to you in a line. What if they have Man Hands? Maybe Schick and Nick aren't familiar with flash mobs? They're pretty common these days. You can't swing a stick on YouTube without hitting two flash mob videos. I was hoping someone would catch the Seinfeld puns there . I couldn't remember the people standing right next to you one...side straddlers was it? I actually thought it was kind of cool, but they shouldn't have used one of my favorite tunes.

  20. Whoa! I just changed my mind...just say no to the Big 10. I refuse to be lumped in a conference with these guys now.
  21. Especially with Pelini...you just never know how it will shake out and just because Martinez (for instance) did well doesn't mean he will be much of a factor this year. I love the competition we have going though.
  22. While I agree that Mizzou should've gotten a better bowl than us that year, I'm curious how being in the Big 12 is their downfall for not getting into a better bowl? The above quote makes it sound as if Beebe told the Gator Bowl to take Nebraska instead of Mizzou. Was that the case? Anyone care to enlighten me on this? Nah, it is the bowl committee that decides who they take. The Gator Bowl thought they would do better by having Nebraska come, because we travel well...at least that is what they said anyways. Maybe what is meant by that comment is that when it comes down to it Mizzou will always get passed over for some of the other programs in the Big XII? Although, I fail to see how that wouldn't be the case in the Big 10 as well.
  23. I have to say since Ubben took over, I am enjoying his blog. He has some pretty good reads.
