  1. Bravo. There's hope for humanity while people still realize this. Does giving flak to someone for their personal beliefs not promote inequality? We are all allowed to think whatever we want; by downgrading someone else's beliefs are you not implying that their views are at least incorrect if not inferior i.e unequal? If someone wants to maintain bigoted beliefs, I say more power to them. But because some bigots "don't like their lifestyle" is a piss poor reason to prevent someone from doing something they want to do.
  2. I'm sure more people play basketball than wrestle or roller skate. Those aren't exactly acccurate statistics. A lot of sports injuries wouldn't require ER visits either. You think Zac Lee was rushed to the ER for his elbow injury? I doubt it.
  3. Got any statistics or anything at all to back that up, or are you just talking out of your butt? I can't think of a team sport position that has fewer sudden starts and stops than a baseball outfielder. Statistics? No. Common sense? Yes. Constant was the wrong word on my part, sorry, but you kind of proved my point with your second statement. An outfielder is standing around letting his muscles cool down for an extended amount of time. Then all of a sudden he has to make quick explosive, movements such as sprinting and throwing. Which puts you at greater risk for strains, pulls, tears, ect.. In football, basketball, soccer, ect. you're moving around more so your muscles stay loose and warm.
  4. Just like in the military the rules shouldn't be made to appease bigots. They shouldn't get to make the rules.
  5. As far as injuries go, baseball is one of the most dangerous sports there is. The constant stopping and starting isn't good on the human body.
  6. for his size he plays well, but being in the middle and under 300 is a liability for him, he got man handled quite a few times last season. I dont know, I have seen some pretty good lineman in that upper 2 but not quite 3 range. I would take a 280 pound rock over a 315 pound with a few extra doughnuts on him. I should say, you guys are better at knowing his level of play, but just saying there are good linemen around that size. He's a good player, and had a good season overall. People are still going batty about how NU ended the season. He's extremely strong for his size, and there's nothing at all wrong with undersized centers as most of the time they need to be quick enough to reach the second level. Mike's biggest problem with his size is he has short arms, which does hurt him.
  7. He's the sports version of Rush Limbaugh. Just says the most ignorant stuff in the most arrogant manner possible, just to try and get a reaction.
  8. you mean when Paul fumbled a return at NU's 13 late in the 4th quarter when we were up by 7 allowing Iowa State to force overtime? Don't be a troll mentioning such jibberish on this board. I thought he fumbled that ball on a kickoff, when the other deep back (Marlowe?) ran over and gave him the "take a knee" sign. Niles was three-ish yards deep, it was a good high kick, and he took it out anyway. And fumbled. Coulda swore it was a kickoff. EDIT - nevermind. I thought that said PUNT return. I can't read. EDIT 2 - twas The Dude who mistakenly said punt. You can sleep tonight knowing you're not.. well.. completely crazy.
  9. you mean when Paul fumbled a return at NU's 13 late in the 4th quarter when we were up by 7 allowing Iowa State to force overtime? Don't be a troll mentioning such jibberish on this board. The heck of it is, when I saw Paul lined up to take that punt I said to my buddy "gee willikers, why on earth would you have Paul back there in this situation". Of course I'm paraphrasing as the language I used wasn't appropriate for huskerboard.
  10. ^The music is perfect As I recall he tried his best to give ISU the game this year too.
  11. Generally you are correct, but it is a good lift for a 17 year old. A triple-bodyweight lift would have put him at about 150 lbs. under the world record for a raw lift, which is asking too much IMO. (As an FYI, my PR was a 465 lbs. deadlift at a bodyweight of 151.) Now you could point out that he's using a Trap bar, with elevated handles, and that the bar is set a few inches off the ground with mats, but I'm not going to pick nits. It was a good effort with solid form, especially for a 17-year-old kid. I imagine he'll be able to add 150 lbs. to that lift easily in his first year here. most people that i have worked with have done 300+ to start and rapidly increased that to the 400-500 pound range, some much higher. my personal best is 605 pounds for a 1 rep max and 545 for a 5 rep max while i weigh 192 lbs and we do not use straps or anything other than a straight line bar. again just my experiences with the deadlift. I would like to see a video of that.
  12. Why do white people love Wayne Brady?
  13. I'm sure Tommie pulling for Brion has absolutely nothing to do with being his uncle. Cousin? I dunno I've heard both.
  14. The problem is you mentioned the bottom dwellers in terms of football and their interest for your examples. Wisconsin doesn't fit that category. Now had you done that at Austin, then you'd have something. http://sportsmed.starwave.com/ncf/s/2000/0909/732611.html I said someone good. As far as selling out their stadium goes, Notre Dame is leagues above Wisconsin.
  15. Heard about it on the radio yesterday. Sad indeed.
  16. BYU's claim to fame is they won the biggest fluke of a national title of all time almost 3 decades ago. I really don't see how they deserve playing a neutral site game with NU. A home and home is pushing it.
  17. That would be ideal. But I wouldn't put any money on it.
  18. Lane Kiffen makes me guffaw!! +1 on both counts.
  19. He would have to handle kickoffs too, being the only kicker on the roster. I don't think the Eagles want him out there taking blocks and trying to tackle guys on kickoffs, let alone punts.
