  1. Pretty cool article about this Prep school! http://msn.foxsports.com/college-football/story/texas-hs-becomes-first-team-ever-to-score-1-000-points-in-season-122113
  2. I guess it won't be long until a second civil war starts with all the media incitment, with the promotion of stories that cause further strain and divide in the culture of our nation. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/12/21/21998413-company-has-parted-ways-with-pr-exec-after-tweet-on-aids-africa-and-race?lite
  3. Pretty epic editorial from a gay rights supporter. http://www.theblaze.com/contributions/america-has-said-duck-you-to-ae/
  4. The plot thickens!!! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2527430/Hung-dry-Duck-Dynasty-star-family-lash-A-E-making-controversial-interview-public-suspending-homophobic-comments.html
  5. If someone threatens you with a video of you humping your dog, are you gonna go around and tell everyone you know that "hey, there's this video of me humping my dog. I'm sorry I shouldntve done it", or are you gonna sit tight and have a plan in place for when and if it is made public and just hope? Whether or not you actually hump your dog is not up for debate. I don't hump my dog unless I am getting paid for it. That being said, its the same way these future politicians deal with dirt the other side might bring up...like the "October" surprise. I guess it was a gamble. I would have come clean immediately after I realized what I said publicly and that it was wrong. But, its like the university has Anthony Weiner's P.R. Consultant!!! Always best to nip any wrong one has done in the bud. But, just don't bogart.
  6. I don't know either but they could have at least had Bo say: "In the past I have chose to let my anger guide me in making bad decisions. Including using improper language and statements against the fan-base of NU said in anger. I have since learned and have had counseling to deal with this character issue and want to sincerely apologize for my irresponsible behavior unbecoming of a Nebraska Head Football Coach. I thank Husker Nation for standing by me during this learning process and ask for all Nebraska fans forgiveness". I don't know if this would be worded right but it would have taken the wind out of the sails of this media extortionist!
  7. Ok, so the university admits it knew about this tirade years ago. Why in the heck would they not have Bo or the AD put out a press statement to disarm the potential media extortion of this situation? You could have it ready and drop it on a heavy news day and have no other comment on the subject after that. I just can't believe all of these edjabacated people let this play out like it has. Really disturbing. Might as well now get all the skeletons out of the closet now while your stepping it. But, IMHO all of this high school drama could have been avoided.
  8. It still doesn't negate the fact of what does Jack's father explain why coach Pelini said what he said? That to me is more disheartening than what the "fair-weather" fans think. I just can't believe they didn't nip this in the bud sooner if they Knew about it.
  9. Man is that depressing. Compare it to Saban, Stoops, Meyer, and Tressel!!!
  10. Unfortunately, I think that Bo might be my illegitimate father. That being said from the beginning of Bo getting hired we have all covered and stuck up for him and his attitude. Whether it be the refs, reporters, whatever it is patently clear to me now that he has an anger issue. Some fans are in denial about this. Me personally I still support him but, he has to grow up. We all knew this was a position to grow into but fans leave early all the time in games. They left early in the UCLA game!!!!! No excuse for a man getting paid millions to come off like that. At least have the smarts to put a press release admitting to what you said in the past so you can't be extorted in the national media. When I do wrong I chose to do wrong. No Excuses, my fault. A leader doesn't shift blame or rationalize and justify their negative behaviors. Regardless of the time passed. There is no forgiveness in the national media. I would have liked to see a better preliminary response from him. I mean why hasn't the University made it mandatory for him to take Anger Management classes or Public Relations III? Now that my Bo Goggles are off, he has a self esteem issue, possibly micro-managing issue, anger issue, etc. Now he is older than me and I have learned this stuff, if he hasn't learned by now then it is a character defect. I mean it’s like getting in a fight with your wife and telling her you don't love her anymore, it is cruel. Now if Bo was drunk and said that I might be more forgiving. Imagine what else has been said that can sully and extort the very foundation of Cornhusker Football??? I mean the only record we have is our sell out streak anymore. At least Mack Brown said today he would Boo himself too!!! If the best fans in college football with the longest streak of sellouts are leaving the game, well then they don't want to see the only consistent thing that Bo’s "system" has created: which are blowout losses to average to above average programs; then you are doing something wrong. They say character is: Not only doing the right thing when no one is looking, it’s doing the right thing when everyone is looking. It’s being willing to do the right thing even when it costs more than you want to pay . This recording just reveals what the administration has been bandaiding for years...the problem. I fall victim my self to my own bad decisions, but that’s what they are...bad decisions. Bo could learn from the age old adages of: sticks and stones..., two wrongs don't make a right, if you can't say anything nice..., etc. I mean CYA and put it out there so it can't hurt you like politicians do. Like it or not there is politics to Nebraska Football. I just can't believe the University or Bo wouldn't have diffused this earlier if they knew about it and if Pelini couldn't remember what he said from his anger that day then that is more evidence of an anger issue. Really, what do you tell a kid like Jack Hoffman, if you're his dad, to explain gently and in a teaching manner what Bo did? There is no excuse. It is a character issue. Profanity, Anger, Threats of violence, are not the Nebraska way, maybe Colorado or Miami not NU. Mike Leach, Mangino, etc. didn't have nearly the track record as Bo has and they got ran out of town by the media and the modern political correctness culture. Either he needs to change quickly, like cold turkey quick, or the staff will change. This isn't about football anymore. There are some places you shouldn't ever go in anger, regardless, and Bo went there. Now its time to pay the piper. There is a reason the good book says: the toungue is sharper than any two edged sword and the tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. Food for thought.
  11. Being that I have lived in San Antonio in the post/pre-young era. I haven't heard one thing from a Longhorn fan since the season has started. But, like the infestation of UT fans that crawled outta of the woodwork during their Vince Young anomoly; The only college football fans I can have a meaningful college football conversation with is Texas A&M Aggies or as I used to call it Nebraska South. So they would be right behind us in football IQ!
  12. @ Bowfin that is hilarious!!!!! So what your saying is Vince Young is the Black Bernie Madoff???
  13. "New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara isn’t your average NFL player. Not only doe she say some have dubbed him “the black Tim Tebow,” he’s also an unashamed Christian who prides himself on avoiding alcohol, being chaste and living a life devoid of the antics and pleasantries that are regularly enjoyed by other professional jocks" With all the crap going on this week....Its good to hear some GOOD news about Husker Football and not tabloid journalism. Link
  14. Bill Callahan taking over head coaching duties???

  16. Criminal.....Well the way he is throwing the ball in that picture....he should be arrested
  17. Nice one....Is there a MOD in the house? Please stand up...Please Stand Up......
  18. I like Bo. but at the end of the day i do agree. we need a someone who knows and loves Nebraska. Turner Gill still strikes me as someone who we need involved in our program no matter the position. Bo will be here till he sees something better is what i fear. with that i think we need a short list of Nebraska football program related guys ready for any situation. I love Turner, but he will not come back to nebraska unless it as HC and that's will never happen. And he's a head coach at what major college right now? Oh that's right. A college no one has ever heard of. I'm guessing he'd make more as an assistant at NU than as a head coach for Whatever College. Sounds like coveting your coaches job is in your alley. Maybe Turner was lead by his belief in quality over quantity. Liberty is one of a few Colleges nowadays that is Christian. Kinda like Stanford and Harvard used to be when they were incepted. So crack on a guy who would rather develop character with the by-product being a talented football player. Kinda like what Nebraska Football used to be.
  19. I'd +100 if I could on this. These are exactly my sentiments. Yep. I used the only one I could on it too. Could not have summed up my thoughts any better. It would have been like 6 long, dragging, endless paragraphs. And we've all seen enough of those (Unfortunately, there will be more to come. Try as I might, succinct expression just continues to elude me.) *One note: I thought Eichorst coming in could lead us down this path. Wouldn't have bet on it, wasn't even strongly suspecting Pelini may not be the guy going forward after Tom stepped aside...it was more of a whisper in the back of my mind that I filed away. I don't want Bo to leave, but...well...Nexus already said it. Mine was one paragraph until I remebered how sensitive some Huskerboard people are when it comes to grammatical inconsistencies. I sure wish MLA would produce the Internet Forum Posting Standard.
  20. I have no reason to doubt or believe your statement. Being "new" to the board, I can't tell if you are a person "in the know" or just another guy with an opinion. Both are ok.... Personally, I think Bo would be happier somewhere else, but I have been around coaching my entire life, and my family works within the Nebraska family (doesn't make me know anything more or less) than anyone else. But, I have an extremely hard time believing that Bo had the Arky job "sealed" until the Big 10 game. I laugh at the idea of a D-I school ....SEC at that...operating on the premise that "we will just take the 'winner' of the game. If you hire someone, you don't pull the offer base on one game. It is an entire process. And furthermore, to turn around and give it to the opposing coach, is just NOT how this whole thing works. Once again, you may be exactly right, but man, I am sorry, I can not sucsribe to that theory, and almost find it comical that anyone woud believe that this type of "play-off" for a coach actually takes place. This shouldn't be a surprise. I mean if someone can't handle the pressure as a Coach in Big Time Games and has a overly disgusting disappointment face with players during the game, I MEAN HOW DO YOU REALLY THINK HE WILL TREAT THE FANS when they hold his feet to the fire? Seems to me he really didn't know what he was getting himself into when he became Head Coach at Nebraska. I.E. fan expectations, petri dish he would be in, and ridicule when blowouts occur. Coach speak just doesn't do it it after BLOWOUT LOSSES, niether does non-verbal aggravation, to most fans at least. If Bo goes to another school it wont last. Then he will become the Hot assistant defensive commidity he once was again. Which is one of the solo things he is good at. Face it, Bo isn't a coaching multi-tasker.
  21. Auburn hired Gus Malzahn. even better ...call me curious about the possibility of Moglia ending up as our coach - taking a much smaller salary (he doesn't need it) and dividing up the other 2-4 million among 6-8 of the best assistants money can buy. ...think what we'd have if our lowest assistant was bringing in 500k/year? i'm convinced (as I've laid out multiple times here) - the recipe for Nebraska getting back to the elite is not a top notch head coach...they are just the CEO/tactician...it's landing the best supporting staff in the NCAA then delegating appropriately. (2 things Bo hasn't yet done) I think the changing landscape of college football has morphed into a new norm. We were good at Nebraska in the 90's I believe because of the tenure of our assistant coaches. Not so much pay, but we were a finely lubed machine. Salaries have replaced this now. So I agree, you have to go all NY Yankees with your assistants then maybe, like any finely run system, it will run its self when one goes down. If you think about it, since college players don't get paid; the assistants have become the College Football "new" free agency. Borderline unethical. But, IMHO I think the networks, ratings, & cash is corrupting the fans interpretation of what "college football" is about. Almost using the same formula in politics as to what networks spotlight during games. You ALWAYS used to hear the announcers mentioned how long assistants and such had been at a school (Loyalty) and how many Academic All Americans a team had. Nowadays, you don't hear much at all about anything academically during games. At least, not like in the 80's and early 90's. Back in the day, alot of smart, GOOD players would come to Nebraska instead of maybe a Ivy League school because of the academic standards. We didn't have to sell Nebraska. But, unfortunately now we have to try to recruit to make it look like Nebraska is just like USC and such, Instead of knowing why you were coming to Nebraska: To get a good degree by graduating and maybe go to the NFL. Now, those priorities have changed across the CF landscape where the media through culture, implants in recriuits heads that winning/FAME and going to the NFL is more important than a good degree and being a man of reputable character. I like to call it the KOBE Syndrome. But, getting the best money can buy coupled with a culture of education first can outdo conferences like the SEC that put more emphasis on athletic talent than they do scholastic standards. How about assistant contracts minimum of ten years based on performance, almost a profit sharing concept, to motivate them more at the long term job other than the one hit wonder to get a HUGE "record deal" from another school. How about EQUAL PAY FOR ALL COACHES ? Putting peer reviewed system in place where the "cardinals" have to choose the Coach? Having the coaches dictate the "coaching culture" instead of the ratings, TV dollars, and networks. I mean College is suppose to be about EDUCATION, not football. Either way the dilemma will always be the slow nickel or the fast dime theory. College Football today was birthed out of Nebraska being the standard. It is time for Nebraska to make a NEW STANDARD for college football
