  1. To say Bo acted angry for motivation is very uninformed opinion of a coach. I will agree that a decrease in effort is something that happens when teams have a couple good practice days in a row. There seems to be a tendency in teams to get lackadaisical. It is the coaches job to put his foot down and say this will not be tolerated. I think that is exactly what Bo did. Prior to the season coaches meet and talk about things pertaining to practices. That includes tempo, schedule, format, and conditioning. After the first couple of practices the coaching staff gets an idea of where the team is in comparison to where the coaches want them to be. What we heard yesterday was a reflection of the team falling below where he expect them to be as well as where they have shown they can be.
  2. Genius As they are public officials this will be very interesting.
  3. Please understand that I think Cody Green is a far better passer than the person I will speak of next. His relaxed running style is very similar to Vince Young. Vince was 6 - 5 / 235 lbs. Cody is an elusive runner and when we he gets in the open field and to top speed with that stride he can cover 7 - 8 yards in two steps. I'm defiantly not saying Green will be anywhere near Zac Lee knowledge wise with the offense. The point I think you missed is that using Green talents will be a huge benefit for the team now than red shirting him. Teams have done this with there young QB's in the past and it has worked. Team like Florida, VT, Ohio State, and Texas in recent years. Team that will be doing it this Florida, Tennessee, University of Virginia, and Michigan.
  4. That comment speaks volumes to where you guys are as a program
  5. Was that while Q was doing the stuff that got him kicked off the team. Puff Puff Pass Cody Green is a running quarterback with a strong arm and he has legit 4.5 speed. Please don't kid yourself to think that Zac Lee's strength for the 2009 season will be his running ability.
  6. Drowning_in_the_Sea_of_Red That explains a LOT about KState's suckage over the last few years... I was thinkin the same thing. For him to have 8 pass break up and 1 interception (against Colorado no less) in 22 start at the safety position is not anything to devote extra time in practices to.
  7. Oh, come on now. Have some kool-aid. It's really good. Just a little? A little won't hurt. Have some. It's realllly gooood! You know you want to. Everyone else is doing it. I promise you will be the coolest if you try just a little. I was close to taking a sip, but I decided not to conform. Hooray individualism....lol
  8. To all of you that are bent on red shirting Green. Please understand that playing as much talent as you can on a young unproven offense will only help the defense. We all know defense will be the key to success for this season. That being said the defense cannot afford to have 3 in outs in a lot of drives with out scores. The more weapons that defensive coordinators have to prepare for the better off the offense will be. Yes there are good players on offense and new faces that may do some good things. However, until those new player get on the field we wont know. Having a two QB system has worked for various teams. Lee right now is a better passer but Green is much better suited to use his feet to make or extend play and run the option.
  9. I'm not going to Nay say, but if you read my name......all I can say is WOW.
  10. To his Highlight Tape Wow!!!!!!! That young man is not playing around out there.
  11. I'm just getting tired of him and his hype the same way I was tired of Tyler Hansbrough for North Carolina. It's like no one else has ever played the position with these two and the media. Now I hear talk of greatest of all time for Tebow. Really? not even greatest QB ever, great CFB player ever? I mean what he has accomplished is great, but lets not act like the Florida Defense didn't have 2 Red Zone interception that prevented scores. He is an efficient quarterback surrounded by talented players. How talented is his team? He could be 5th or 6th player drafted on his own team in April.
  12. "They were...the television announcers said so." Jen, Not saying that what was said isn't true but an announcer also said this. If you’re fortunate to spend five or 20 minutes around Tim Tebow, you’re life will be better for it. I'm just saying lets not give to much credence to the all knowing capacity of sports announcers.
  13. I personally have no problem with what Bo did with Q. We are not in the locker room and regardless to how much people think they know about the goings on in NU Football they don't. I read peoples post with there "sources" and it makes me laugh. The only thing I want to see from Bo is consistency with his discipline. No one knows definitively how many chances Q had. But I do know a player was allowed back after "resisting arrest and criminal mischief" and a player that received a punishment of miss the last week of spring practices and the spring game for a DUI on a suspended license.
  14. You will also have people that feel that a no nonsense coach doesn't get recruits and that couldn't be further than the truth. What happens is you bring in non discipline problem guys to your program. The players that Bo decides to give scholarship when they sign they realize that that type of stuff is not going to be accepted at NU. As old as Joe Pa is; he is still cracking the whip at Penn. Coaches like basketball's Bobby Knight (though his methods were strange at best) you never heard about his players getting into trouble.
  15. That whooshing sound you heard was the point zipping overhead in your rush to display a rather pedestrian amount of sarcasm. Sarcasm? Whatever do you mean
  16. Until I saw that post from NewEarthHusker I never realized how bad they are stinking it up down there in Austin. 10 wins season in only 8 out 11 seasons. In the non 10 win seasons a miserable 9 wins is all they could muster up. For the life of me I cannot understand how Mack Brown keeps his employ averaging 2 losses a season and a laughable 77% winning percentage.
  17. He is a very high runner. Marlon Lucky proved that the finesse running back is not made for this system. Helu has moves but best believe he will lay you out if you try to go up top on him. I just don't see that in Rex. Don't get me wrong i think he is an excellent talent, but he will have to work on his pad level to be successful at the collegiate level.
  18. White Running Back? Really? There are tons of white running backs playing college football across the country. I really wish people would leave that BS alone. If a kid can ball they can ball. Rex reminds me of a much faster Marlon Lucky. Runs the ball well to the outside and has great straight line speed. However he look very stiff in and out of breaks and through the tackles he runs very high. I've watched a lot of his high school tape and on the plays that he went through the middle he never had contact till 5 or 10 yards down the field. Kind of interesting that he is one of the few first team All State 5A running backs to not get an offer from either Oklahoma or Texas.
  19. Husker Jen, I can tell I will enjoy this board if I have you to go back and forth with. The comment I made was to address the recent lack of top NE recruits. I or no one else can deny the great success that O - Line had in the past. However, you bring up two names that have not played football in over twenty years. What I was trying to explain is there has not been much done by way of progress for the youth. I see it all the time here I actually started coaching a pee wee football team. So many of the coaches are more concerned with trying to win than teaching the kids the game explaining where they need to be and the little things necessary to be good. Also the kids that already have a little bit of talent are cuddled early and more attention is focused on them while those that are not as advanced are left to be discouraged. This is something I brought up in our coaches meeting. So again - (In order for NE to have more local talent a bigger emphasize has to be placed on Youth Football in the two cities with the most population.) I am tired of NE using the weather excuse. Kids are produced in a lot of cold weather states. Believe it or not NE is not the only state that gets snow. Believe it or not there are maybe only schools two schools in the Big 12 that don't get snow. Texas A&M and Texas. Furthermore other cold weather states still seem to produce top talent ever year. Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Penn, NJ, The Virginias, NY, ETC.
  20. You can if you are given the time necessary to win with the recruits you bring in. If you bring in just NE guys and develop them I think they will be able to compete. But will the NU faithful allow for 2 to 3 years of .500 seasons to build players? I think we know the answer. A true rebuilding program know that they are more than 3 years away. So we cannot say that things were left in that bad of disarray if NU was able to compete last year. Don't get me wrong the attitude and effort was heading nowhere but there were piece to be successful with the right leadership. I think it will be a while before we see a Husker team with NE players in the majority of the key position. But anything can happen.
  21. I was one of the few who did not want Sam Keller starting at QB in 07. I do not believe in bringing in a one year hired gun to play QB for our team. I had a friend on ASU team and he was explaining to me how the team couldn't stand Keller. I knew it was something for a team (especially seniors) to put there season in the hands of a SO QB. This just goes to the terrible decision making of the coach that isn't here anymore.
  22. In today's college football there isn't time to make players. If Bo sticks to just recruiting NE kids, how long will it take to get the program where everyone wants it to be? With people already looking ahead to 2010 schedules saying the schedule is weak and setup for a Big 12 championship run; people cant say that and expect to play NE recruits that are years away against the talent in some of the other states that put out player that can play as freshman or sophomores. All this talent that people seem to believe Nebraska has why isn't there players in other Division 1 schools dominating since they couldn't go to NU. So they are so talented that either NU takes them or they go no where? This speaks to the comment i made yesterday. More emphasis need to be placed on youth football in this state to equip the players with the tools necessary to become NU scholarship players.
  23. That's the magic of pre-season message boarding, everyone's right until the season starts. We shall see where both players are in due time.
  24. While Paulus was shooting hoops, Lee was completing 64% of his passes for 3,400 yards and 35 TDs en route to the California Jr. College Championship game. Paulus hasn't played competitive football in four years. Of their two resumes, Lee's is by far superior. If you look at my earlier statement you are making the point that I made. The only thing we have to judge both players quarterback ability is their past accomplishments. Unless i'm mistaken they both graduated in 2004 and Paulas was the more sought after of the two. All im saying is it will be interesting to see how the both of them do.
