  1. Bert (intentional misspelling) has to walk a thin line now. If he jumped ship now that would be 3 blue blood schools in 2 years. Not something Nebraska would take interest in. So why would we offer him? It's like marriage. If you are with someone who is cheating why wouldn't they cheat on you. If Bert leaves an SEC team with a rich history why wouldn't he leave a B1G team with rich history. Add in that he shares an agent with SE why not make the claim to get a raise?
  2. Sums up my thoughts with personal experiences I don't have. I am up for waiting this out with cautious optimism.
  3. Whomever is named coach there was a fair amount of "smoke" out there to keep everyone off the trail. Let's hope we are all impressed later today (or tomorrow morning for me).
  4. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere on here but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the posts. Sure we like to think Bo has had at least 9 wins in every season. But the problem is that the wins really aren't impressive, watered-down is an appropriate term. In the last 2 years Bo has 8 wins per year against FBS talent. The other 2 were rent-a-wins. His record against teams that finished with winning records is only 5-7. The best win (by record at least) would be 8-5 Georgia. After that there are 3 wins against 7-5 teams and another against a 7-6 team. Of the 16 FBS wins here is a breakdown. 5 against teams with winning records 3 against teams with .500 records 8 against teams with losing records
  5. This is a very unfortunate opinion. Why is it awful that someone in charge wants to insure that his employees keep learning? I think any anger and hostility towards Shawn Eichorst and his "inability" to do his job is misguided. Unless he happens to retain Bo, in which case, burn the witch, obvs Remember he works for the Alumni who pay his salary and I hear that Bo is close to a couple of the big donors: Hawk & Pelan. I'm no insider but from my readings in the interwebs Hawks is no longer lobbying for Bo. Clare is the biggest donnor still on team Bo.
  6. It wasn't not crediting Frankie as much as it was me not spending time to look it up. Also figured some of the No supporters would cry that Frank did it with Toms players.
  7. With all the discussion I thought I would take the time to compare records of all NU coaches since 2000 verses ranked teams. The catch from other comparisons is this is teams ranked at the end of the season. Ranked at the time isn't worth much in my book. Look at the SEC this year. Early on teams were hyped after beating South Carolina or A&M and getting a lot of publicity. Now many teams are beating them. Can't really say any of the records are impressive. Bo's 5 wins came in years 3 (2), 4 (1) and 5 (2). Here it is... Bo (using 2014 current rankings) 5 wins (2 vs top 15, 0 vs top 10) 18 losses (14 vs top 15, 9 vs top 10) Cally 1 win (#25 Pittsburgh) 11 losses (8 vs top 15, 6 vs top 10) Fighting Frankie (2000 and onward) 3 wins (2 vs top 15, 1 vs top 10) 10 losses (8 vs top 15, 6 vs top 10)
  8. I want to thank Bo for the most promising first 3 years after Callahan. I really thought we were going to be a fixture in the top 10 with an amazing D and even mediocre O. That's where it ended though. He brought passion and good times back to the fan base in those years. Unfortunately for him that passion is what led to his fate on Friday.
  9. Same type of people will not like the media ban either. His focus is on having fun and it doesn't sound like he is worried about things beyond his control (like his coach's employment status). When I played I played to win buy that's because winning was way more fun than losing. I bet TA has more in winning too. So there is NOTHING to see here.
  10. He should already be toast. I also agree that the team will probably fold. But this is a classic type of game that Bo will win. If Iowa gets up early it will be over.
  11. in the battles we go through life
  12. Dan F has everything you need to know about KK. Sore loser trying to troll up business since his show sucks.
  13. Spent some time on the website and found the true incentives. It's all smoke and mirrors to imply that Urban is incentivised to perform better with his contract structure.
  14. There was a big shakeup this weekend. This is why its best not to get overly worked up even early in November. In 2007 there were about 5 upset losses that took place in the final two weeks (Thanksgiving and CCG) to get a 2 loss LSU in the championship game.
  15. I'd like to see what incentives Urban has to go from 800k to 4.5M. Urban has no conference titles, no BCS bowl wins at OSU, etc. He has been very good but doesn't have the measurables typically required for incentives. That link is also a little confusing. It lists 2014 guaranteed money for Urban at 4.5M, but his base is 800k. If he is guaranteed the money is it really different than base? It appears like Bo's contract is more straightforward without knowing the details of the contracts.
  16. Mixed feelings here. We matched up well for a rematch against Sparty. On field turf in a dome rather than shaggy long, over watered grass at MSU. We would have tested their D much like OSU did. I don't know how we matchup against OSU. Haven't really watched them enough. I do know that last time we played them we were on our game and leading early. Then we fell apart like happens so often in the limelight. NU can and should win if they play their A game and limit mistakes. They don't have to be perfect but a solid game. As far as the rankings this week... we will not fall due to MSU's loss. The committee has shown that 2 loss teams drop below 1 loss teams unless there is extreme disparity in the resumes. Our 1 loss by 5 points on the road to MSU does not equal extreme disparity to MSU's losses @ Oregon and home to OSU.
  17. Why shouldn't it have been played when Alabama dominated them and was the better team? Isn't the national championship supposed to go to the best team? I agree with you guys and think OSU should have been in the title game but with the playoff I think preference should be given to conference champions but it shouldn't be an absolute rule, because if we're honest Bama earned that title even if they didn't deserve it. They earned it in the same sense that Michigan "earned" a national championship in 1997. Alabama had their chance to win the SEC West and they lost. Oklahoma State had the same record, but won their Conference (yes they lost to Iowa St, but I still think the plane crash affected them for that game). You cannot be the best in the country if you can't win your conference or even division. Imagine the asterisks next to our championships if we played Oklahoma for them instead of another conference. My favorite thing about that year was everyone saying the SEC D would have shut down OSU. The SEC D was all the rage. Then a few ears later MU and A&M join and everyone is averaging 40+ points per game. Fast break offense came to the SEC and now they can't play D. Maybe OSU wins maybe LSU does. But let's see a game that we didn't see in the regular season. I don't know how LSU didn't split the title that year. They beat Bama in their crib. More wins than Bama. Conf champ. Only thing they did was lose at the wrong time.
  18. My bad on ND ASU. I get a little mixed up sometimes trying to follow games that have and will happen. But you aren't ever going to convince me that KSU playing any of Texas Tech, @Iowa State, and Kansas is materially better than @Fresno State. All 4 teams have only 2 wins each against FBS teams. Many will argue that he B1G is bad but the bottom of ALL power 5 conferences is no different than top at large teams.
  19. My only issue with what you wrote is ND and ASU. NDs only loss of they win out is FSU. They will have a lot of quality wins including ASU. Plus their national exposure. They are in just as much as a 1 loss PAC12 champ. These teams should be in the same categories.
  20. I think you are missing something. First objectively with a CCG you play 13 games and most likely 12 FBS opponents. Having 1 loss against more quality teams should count for something. If it didn't then no conference would have a title game because it could only penalize them by losing. Subjectively it means more. The week before the game everyone will be comparing, say Baylor and Nebraska. After the game no matter what you opinion prior to the game of Nebraska wins they improve comparatively. Specifically if NU wins the B1G without playing tOSU they will have played MSU twice. I think two games against a top 10 opponent make up for not playing everyone. I don't see anyone crying that Bama or MSU could win the SEC without playing Georgia or Missouri.
  21. There insolently to argue with the perceptions SEC gets but this isn't one. Try arguing that they rarely play any marque games non-con, if they do it's almost guaranteed they will play home or neutral site. They don't leave the south east. They live off playing highly ranked teams within their conference who get their rankings from playing other highly ranked teams in their conference. In the last few years the SEC has a 3-5 record in BCS games. 2-4 if you don't count the game against themselves. It's not like they are dominating the rest of college football.
  22. In the wind and rain, and the home team had to cheat to win. Hopefully this lights a fire under the team to win out the rest of the way. 13-1 or bust. MSU didn't cheat, they played smart and used our stupidity against us.....give them credit. It's only cheating if you get caught, and MSU didn't get caught. At least, not when it mattered. Whining about it after the fact is futile.Answer this. Auburn didn't get "caught" paying Cam Newton to win a national title? No. But is that the type of program Nebraska fans want or do we want one that goes out of the way to follow the rules but still beat your ass? I'm sure your old enough to realize that cheating can work a lot of times in life. But the times it doesn't always burn worse than the sweetness the cheating earned. Watch our secondary some time. Their technique teeters the line of what is and isn't technically legal. Often times that line is crossed, and often times we get away with it. Anyone who played football at any level knows that a lot of what goes on in the trenches isn't technically legal. Jason Peter's "*shrug* it's football" reaction says it all. The point is we do get penalized for it enough that it stops is from doing it blatantly. To scheme to clap the snap to throw off the opposition is completely different since they weren't penalized at all. If your in business and you have your competitions sales model you will likely beat them. But what happens the next time when you face competition and you don't have their model. You likely lose because you relied on trickery. Our secondary doesn't rely on trickery. They play tight coverage that borders on PI. But when needed they can cover without the penalty. What MSU showed is they could only stop our O with out snap count. When they lost this they couldn't stop us. So what will happen IF they should make the playoff and play another strong O. The smoke and mirrors will be gone and so will the Spartan D.

  24. 15% of this is player inexperience in these situations, and 25% is MSU having to cheat to win, like a bunch of pauper Longwhorns. 60% of it is coaching, though, 100% of the time. I don't think we can say that for sure. I played in a game one year against a former coach from our staff. As players we all heard the defense call out a play a few times. It was obvious that te other coach was feeding info. We actually changed the name of the play but the team called it by the name when the old coach was with us. Problem was it was so obvious to us that none of us told ten coaches. There is only a short amount of time when you are on the sidelines. In the heat of the moment you don't always relay the important information the coaches need. Also it sounds like the coaches changed things during the game to correct the problem. Auburn has almost won 2 big games by stealing signs from opposing teams. And don't try to tell me that Bill Snyder is inexperienced. He is one of the best coaches in the business at the game management part of coaching. Let's move on. We lost to the now #8 team in the nation by 5 on the road at night.
