  1. You'll have a blast! Weather forecast is calling for great weather at kickoff, but a large front coming in within a few hours. Make sure to bring a poncho or two just in case!
  2. Give credit where credit is due... NU grads claimed the top two spots!
  3. They're a Division 2 school. I don't know much about their football team, but I'm pretty sure if they played Colorado they'd be favored by at least 21. Well, that's the post of the day for me.
  4. We are soundly beating this team in everything but specials teams, penalties, and the score, right?
  5. Some travesty thread brought me over here. Voted. It's weird. There's like a whole 'nother sports board over here
  6. Been playing Xcom: Enemy Unknown for the last week. Very very good strategy game, but exceedingly difficult too.
  7. Santos/Turner/Janovich. Bell is going to have a helluva a year, but I think he's in the same boat as Martinez & Abdullah. While we do expect improvement, we already know (to a degree) what we are going to get. Hope Qvale, Pensick, Sirles, Thurston, Valentine, Randle, & Ankra all go to a whole different level too.
  8. Dammit. At $30 a ticket I would be in, but the wife is forcing me to this prior commitment we made. Something about a wedding or somesuch...
  9. Can we do previous huskers? Ryan Klatchko Aaron Green Tyler Moore
  10. Woohoo!!! Thanks! Just stuffed myself for breakfast with Nothing Bundt Cakes from the wife, got a package of Eileen's cookies for work, and at work there was a buttercream german chocolate cake - good start so far! <<<loosens belt...>>>
  11. I want to see Stark injected dammit! (this will probably end up on the out of context quotes board )
  12. While discussing energy independence, it is probably also worth noting freshwater supplies. Being as that 80-90% of the world's non-glacier freshwater is made up of groundwater deposits (and the other 10-20% is lakes/rivers), we in the US also have the as-yet largest groundwater deposit in the world - the ogallala aquifer. Unfortunately we are draining it faster than it is recharging, but it is still another tremendous resource of the US.
  13. Liked I like the bird & the bird's shade of grey. Font on top is more crisp, I like it much more. Maybe try the words between the wings? There's also a lot of potential A's for the beginning of the Anooma in those bird feathers. Maybe put design to the right & perpendicular to the Anooma? What is your design preference as far as industry? The top logo says "I design business logos", while the bottom design says "I design sports logos", at least to me. So I guess I'm saying the top one seems more professional to me. And for some reason, the bird kind of reminds me of the air force or armed services. And I think that is a good thing. It makes me think of discipline, integrity, and hard work. Good choice. Just tossing around ideas here, and you would have to re-tweak the "A" feather to make it more readable. I don't like this one though, because I think it takes away the regal-ness of the bird.
  14. Sweeeet. Hoping to see continuation of the Extremis storyline...
  15. I'm definitely thinking in a similar way. It's a long term strategy for the country. Even if we do gain dependence on oil, that energy independence is likely to come to only a handful of very technologically advanced countries. Many other countries might still be very dependent on oil for energy production. Particularly larger population centers with lower domestic indexes, such as India and possibly China. I'm guessing the US is banking on this, and wants to hold their resources until the end, to be the last person holding what everyone wants - energy. And if you really want to sleep peacefully at night about the US's ability to provide oil/energy for itself and others, look up shale oil. It is basically oil that has been absorbed into rock. The United States has the largest reserves on earth - by far. As a comparison, Saudi Arabia has around 260 billion barrels of oil in their reserves. The United States has an estimated 200-250 TRILLION barrels worth of shale oil that can be extracted into recoverable oil. Interesting stuff to think about.
  16. Lots of birthdays this weekend! And I forgot about Chili Peppers being this weekend - see ya there! Weekendlong hangover indeed...
  17. No problem! If anyone finds any errors or recommends any changes, please post here. Please see below!!! ***Hey everyone - please post only in this pinned topic for the Big Red Recipe Book Index. Not in the appetizer, meals, drinks, or sides sections. If you post in the other pinned threads, they move to the top of the pinned list on the page. And dammit, we want the index at the top!*** Thanks! Bradr
