  1. The game officials felt it was dirty and, from what I am hearing the Big XII does as well. But, I guess you don't care if we are seen as a bunch of thugs, you just want a winning team. Fans like you don't even know what it means to be a Husker fan. Nope, wrong again, not a BCer, think the firing was the right thing to do. I think hiring Pelini was the right thing. But I also think Pelini looking the other way about this type of play, while we are be hammered on ESPN and SI for what Larry Asante has done the last two weeks. If Bo would just step up and do the right thing, maybe everyone could move on. Until he does, he will look classless and weak. Sorry, but this post stinks of a BCers thoughts. I was on the bigredboard long enough to know how you guys work. Maybe Bo should resign but before he does he should rip up the schollys of any player that was flagged this year. Fans like you don't even know what it means to be a Husker fan. HuskerNLA... nice first thread. It did make me laugh.... I bet you were satisfied with the penalty-free callahan teams, even though they lost every game. Are you gonna call Asante's mom and tell her to ground him? Like others have said... get off your high horse and I guarantee you, unless you have something wrong with your brain... it is very hard to believe that you wouldn't trade this years team for the 94-95 teams.... Hmmmmmmm..... Have a FEW thuggish players that in NO WAY affect your personal life and in return get some national championships and pride for Nebraska.... or have clean Bill Callahanesque players on your team and lose more games than you win. You're smart though.
  2. Yeah... Mizzou didn't lose... but hey! We already beat them and they beat KSUcks! So it's an all around great Saturday
  3. I loved the hit he put on reesing Me too
  4. Yeah the pocket containing thing worked against Tyrod Taylor because he isnt a very good passer. But against Reesing, I think a spy would have worked better with the line just rushing like normal, because if you give him the pocket to sit back there, he'll eventually find a target and put it right on the money. But like others said, thank god for our back 7 and the plays they made today. Special props to Gomes for popping that ball out!! P.S. Helu's a BEAST.... when he's healthy obviously lol
  5. That's a sweet picture of the backfield. They look badass
  6. If we should lose, let us stand by the road...
  7. He'll have to run a 3.78 40-time for that to happen.
  8. Not that I'm proud of it, but Kansas won the Orange Bowl in '07 did they not? OHHHHHHHHHHH.... Because the Mountain West Conference is full of powerhouses ya know?..... This dude needs to quit tootin' his own horn and realize that besides Utah BYU and TCU, and other than TCU, the other teams have been RECENT successes.... these three schools are the only even RESPECTABLE programs in the MWC. Maybe he should realize that a LARGE part of the reason that these schools are undefeated or have one or two losses is because they play in a weak conference. It doesn't matter what their record says... if they played in a BCS conference, especially such as the big 12, they would have 3 or more losses. BIG XII > MWC And yes... the BIG XII would never go for it. Why do these ridiculous journalists actually get paid to do this? I'm changing my major so I can get paid to bullsh#t my way to a paycheck every week.
  9. You hit the nail on the head. The Huskers will have a let down and lose this game. That's just the way it is. What goes up must come down! Thank you for your crystal ball to the future. Now I won't waste my time watching.
  10. Are you saying that college football is not going toward parity? Because if that's so, I must respectfully disagree. I have never seen a time in my life where Boise State, Cincinatti, and TCU take up 3 spots in the top 10 countries out of 120 in Div. 1 football. If anything, I would say parity is more prevalent now than ever before. And if by being smart you mean scheduling weak teams as Boise State does now. Their A.D. publicly stated in 2007 that they scheduled (at least at the time) weaker teams in the non-conference. BSU may be a top 10 team and has been for a couple of years, but I cannot help but think that if they played in a competitive conference, they would have 3-4 losses. And they may be in the top 10 every year, but they will NEVER play for a national title without a LOT of help... and by help I mean teams losing 2-3 games near the end of the year. For instance, they played Oregon this year and beat them.... good win. But the thing I can't help but thinking is due to their INCREDIBLY WEAK conference schedule, they are able to get up for games against BCS conference teams and treat them like the superbowl. Getting pumped and "up" for a game against teams week in and week out is much different than ONCE a season as BSU does. Congrats on them going Undefeated right now, but I don't think they would be if they played in a conference like the Big 12 or SEC, Pac-10 or even Big 10/11
  11. It's too bad the boneheads that are actually in control of this system are too stubborn and pig-headed to realize that a "Plus-1" system is THE BEST system for deciding the national championship. One side-note on that... This is probably obvious, but I think that if there are only 2 undefeated teams at the end of the year, scratch the Plus-1 and just have the title game. But yes... in the scenario where there are 4 or even where there are 3, have a plus one and figure the crap out once and for all. Because no one outside the top 4 really has performed at the level of a national champion anyway. Wouldn't it be great to see the best 4 teams in the country get to play it out for all the marbles?
  12. Oh yeah? Well I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, or the feelings of any of your OU Spooner buddies. I wouldn’t want to make any of you cry or anything. Do you actually know any Sooner fans? I am not talking about the kindly old grayhairs who custom order their Depends adult diapers in OU Crimson & Cream. I mean the rabid fanatical troglodyte mouthbreathers who spend gameday screaming obscenities and hurling insults. If you spent much time with them—the rabid troglodytes, not the grayhairs—then you wouldn’t be tripping over your skirt to be so kind to them. You would use the term Friggin Hillbillies. And you would think it’s funny. btw, do you actually have any opinion on the open field tackling in the Oklahoma Sooners game? Or were you posting in this thread just to pose as a dignified, classy, corn-cob-up-the-butt, Husker fan? Chillax-ilate-ify brah
  13. That's true, 3.4 sacks per game is a lot, but if we should have had 5.2 sacks per game and we're being cheated out of nearly two sacks per game, isn't that a problem? And no matter how you look at it, 90 pass attempts over two games with not one single hold called... that's an issue. Not to mention that Texas Tech is NOTORIOUS for holding and playing dirty on the offensive line. Just look at the picture of Orakpo being TACKLED by Carter in last years game, where the hold didn't get called. And... There was one play in the OU game where Crick straight up trucked the offensive lineman, and he was falling over and grabbed the front of cricks jersey. His jersey stretched out past his freaking knees... it literally looked like he was wearing a dress for a second and the o-lineman pulled him over on top of him. As expected... NO HOLDING CALL. It's ridiculous. The penalties we get called for are ridiculous. Like the "Block in the back" on the punt return saturday. There was no such penalty, but it was called. A phantom block in the back. Someone at the game was mentioning that in North vs. South games, the calls go in favor of the south more often than the north. This makes me wonder, I wish I could find some stats on that to back it up. Anyone know where these could be found? But I think everyone can agree that this year, the referees are on a whole different level of horrible than has been experienced before. It's outrageous.
  14. I love how people manage to be so negative even after a win. With Bradford in, we still would have had a great chance to win. PEOPLE.... We are watching one of the most impressive defenses in Nebraska history here... Yes it may seem like I'm chugging the kool-aid, but after watching Nebraska football my entire life, who else can think of a time where our defense was in the top 11 and our offense was ranked in the bottom 3rd of the country? Maybe 2003, but everyone with eyeballs can see that our defense is legit and is passed the days of being inconsistent. Like Knapp said... we are greedy SOBs who took what we wanted. OH YEAH!
  15. Can't hate on you for calling it like you see it... but I sure pray you're wrong. I too, think we will lose this game. But I believe that we have a very stingy defense, one that can win the game for us..... IF.... and it's a big if... IF our offense can find just enough to score 2 touchdowns and NOT TURN THE BALL OVER . However, I think this is very, very unlikely. I can see a pick six or two against us happening very easily against a speedy D like OUs.
  16. And you are comparing Nebraska to those programs to our liklihood for a win. Its official. We are horrible. FML Stanford is 5-3 and 3rd in the pac 10. But no I wasnt. I was saying far crazier things have happened. I could have used BSU over OU, Oregon State last year ect if that makes you feel better. Or hell BYU this year over OU. Don't worry Bigpulve. I see where you're coming from... and it MAKES SENSE. Some people just become complete doomsdayers just because we lose a couple games, they think all of the sudden our football team is completely inadequate. It's funny how ridiculously fast people forget where they've come from. 2 years ago we had the WORST season in Huskers HISTORY! We are on our way back, ladies and gentlemen. Have some faith.
  17. ARE YOU KIDDING ME KID?! Nebraska's defense is on a completely different level than it was in Lubbock in 04. People on this board make me laugh my ass off... we have lost a game that we shouldn't have and haven't had a great offense. Whatever happened to the ANY GIVEN SATURDAY mentality. Yes... under BillyC, we would have lost this game in a huge blowout. But don't think for a second that Bo won't have these kids ready to play. Can we and might we get blown out? Yes.... Will we? NOOOOO If our offense can find it's feet AT ALL... even scoring 2 touchdowns, which would be difficult at the rate we've been going, our defense can win this game for us. MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT... OUR defense is BETTER than Oklahoma's... both statistically and from observations from watching the games. We don't have a decent defense... we have a GREAT defense. Grow a pair and stop whining like we are already being blown out. NOT ONE SNAP has been taken. Drink some F#$*ing cool-aid, you need it.
  18. I don't care what Bo said or how he looked doing it. Bo's concern for Suh's simple accident, which can happen to ANYONE... key word, accident.... was leaps and bounds ahead of "Win at all costs" Urban Meyer's reaction to Brandon Spikes' DELIBERATE ATTACK of another player ON THE FIELD. What a f'ing joke.... Suspend him for half of a game against the worst team in the SEC and one of the worst in the NCAA. Pathetic.
  19. What happened to that Kopeli's? That's a nice store. Didn't care much for the underbrewed coffee, but it was a great place to hang out. What's going to happen to that building? It's too bad it's gone. It just went under due to POOOOOOOR management. We would literally sit for hours, with no customers. Lack of advertising and terrible hours that drained their funds all contributed. Staying open until 2 AM is a little much for a straight-up coffee shop. I thought it was a really nice place too. Problem was, most kids just went there to study, rather than actually buy the extremely overpriced food. As for the building, it's just up for sale. Hopefully it's made into something worthwhile.
  20. I agree, most songs by 5FDP are amazing to put with football videos.
  21. Understatement of the year! Drunk Amigos is so good that I now love Sober Amigos. I wonder if Woody is still patrolling that place at night... MKO, Woody is still loungin around the parking lot at night. I worked at the Kopeli Coffee for the year or so it was open. Woody's a great guy.
  22. Anything in the Haymarket is great on game day. They have bars and restaurants that are all really nice. The tailgating scene around the stadium is fantastic as well and I'm sure some Husker faithful would let you party with them. Other than that, tours of the stadium are great. Downtown is the place to be on gameday. Cheers to a great game! GO BIG RED!
  23. One thing that I've noticed consistently throughout this season is the lack of emotion on the offensive side of the ball. If you watch our defense, when they're on the field.... they know what they're doing. They aren't thinking and they're playing with fire. When they make a play, they get up and they're pumped about it (throwing the bones and such). When you watch the offense on the field, when they run a play, even a successful play, they get up and go straight back to the huddle. This is just my humble opinion, but I believe that the reason for this is that the players are just thinking too damn much. When players have a playbook and gameplan down PAT, they play with fire and run on instincts. There is no thinking involved and they go FULL SPEED. When a team is confused and don't have a great grasp.... a great example is our defense at the beginning of the year LAST year.... they play slow and just think way too much. I know the offense is complex, but like Willie said, the playbook is big, but it's a lot of the same plays out of different formations. The playcalling needs to be simplified and the coaches need to find what these AVERAGE players are GOOD at. I still believe that the power formations can work the best for running with this offense (granted, we need a running back that isn't 4th or 5th on the depth chart). Roy is practicing without a green jersey even though that tells us little about how hurt he still is because our coaches seem to lie on this topic... But Robinson is good to go and he showed some great flashes in both the games he started and played in. If we can find that identity... which I believe is NOT the finesse spread pass attack (at least at this point)... we will be able to contend with OU come Saturday. If we do not, we will see another very inept performance and against OUs defense, we won't score a damn point. Here's to hoping we come out strong and on top when the dust settles Saturday night...
