  1. Rich Rodriguez took over Michigan the same year as Bo took over in Nebraska. Rich Rodriquez 15-22 in three years there. Let's anoint him as a genius! This is what he as done over the same time frame including this years Arizona team. 3-9, 5-7, 7-6, 8-5, 8-5, 10-2 with losses to USC 7-4 and UCLA 9-3. Yes, he is a coaching genius!! Let's not forget the highly ethical manner in which he told West Virginia to go screw themselves for greener pastures in Michigan. Oh, let's not forget the mess in Michigan. Players abandoning ship right and left due to his unethical behavior, NCAA rules violations, self imposed probation by the University. Yes, let's look to Rich Rodriguez as how it is done!!
  2. Yes NUance, Sorry about that. I was firing off an email to my brother to address several issues. I meant to just hilight the part about TO having 20 different seasons of losing to someone he wasn't supposed to. My bad. Did not mean to have such a rant.
  3. Tom Osborne lost games that he was “supposed to win” 20 out of 25 seasons. Bo Pelini is not Tom Osborne, no one will ever be Tom Osborne. Bo Pelini will continue to grow as a coach and leader. He will strive to bring the National title back to Lincoln, but may not get it done. We all need to continue to enjoy the ride of Nebraska football. It is great to have high expectations, but if it was the end of the world every time we lost a game we shouldn’t…Uhhh, we all would have been gone a long, long time ago. Go Big Red

    Band

I have been to over 170 games since 1971. I was fighting cancer in 1997, sitting in the South end zone for the Oklahoma game and could not stop crying when the band took the field and played "There is no place like Nebraska". I was pretty sure at that time, it would be my last game. I am such a sap...the waterworks start for me each and every game now. The band is about tradition, and is a must see each and every pre-game for me. I never played in the band, and can't carry a tune in a bucket; but I for one love everything that they do on game day.
  5. nwhuskystar, I sent you a personal message via Huskerboard
  6. I ordered these tickets from the Nebraska ticket office last summer. I am now unable to make the game. Tickets are $85 each. It is only an eleven hour drive from Lincoln. Nebraska's first trip to the Big House since 1962. Upper endzone seats. 4 together.
  7. Did Scott Strasburger play for Holdrege as a Freshman, or did you? Trying to figure out how you could have played with Means, Florell and Strasburger. Maybe all the freshman back then played with the high school.
  8. Read the first post. Water cooler discussion on Brent Musburger. I was looking for an answer, and thought this was the logical place to look for help.
  9. I stand corrected. Well done Landlord. Twice is right!!!
  10. After waisting an hour of work time on extensive research I have the answer. The only time he has been back was for the 2007 USC game.
  11. This is somewhat off topic for Wisconsin week, but I am looking for help to settle an anguement at work. I am surrounded by coworkers that say that Brent Musburger has not been back in Lincoln since his open container ticket after the 2005 Pittsburgh game. I am pretty sure he was here in 2009 for Oklahoma. Also think he was here for the night games against USC and Virginia Tech. Can anyone claify this? Any other games? Am I wrong on the above games? Thanks, GO BIG RED
  12. If anyone thinks that Tom Osborne will not let Bo make changes, they are out of their minds. Does anyone actually believe that Tom Osborne has a Steve Peterson ego on him? Does anyone really think that Tom Osborne is pleased with this goofball zone read offense? Maybe I read more into your post than you intended. I think I'm still a little pissed and tired from last night.
  13. Stick a fork in this story. It's dead. Let it rest.
  14. If Watson would happen to be offered the Vanderbilt job right now, does he finish the season with Big Red, or take the job ASAP? I don't see him following in Bo's shoes and going back to coach the bowl game (especially not the Holiday Bowl). Who takes over on our current staff for the bowl? Barney? How about our AD?
  15. I am approximating 100 people from my Nebraska town of 5,600 are going to the game in Dallas. This represents 1.79% of the population. Carry this forward to the entire state. That puts the Nebraska travel squad at 32,220. Throw in the Texans for Nebraska, and other Midwest alumni… I think it is foreseeable to have over 40,000 Real Big Red fans in attendance. This is obviously unscientific, but I think a somewhat educated guess. I cannot remember an away game where I know of so many people going with the exception of the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.
  16. Thanks for posting!!! GREAT!!!!!!
  17. Does anyone happen to have a copy of the post game Big 12 video? Or at least a link to a copy of it. I heard it was great.
  18. Like a wild animal that has been held against its will in captivity, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will break out of the shackling chains of the Big Twelve this Saturday. No longer will we have to put up with the wannabe dictatorship of the University of Texas. The ghosts of the near misses in 1996, 98,99,02,06 and 09 will be exercised in an epic blowout that will leave the Longhorns yearning for next year’s life without BIG RED. The only bright spot I see for the Longhorns this Saturday will be a very lonely field goal sometime in the third quarter. Mac Brown’s post game interviews will showcase his Texas charm as he tries to convince America that the better team did not win the game. I see touchdowns coming for Nebraska from Brandon Kinnie, Rex Burkhead, Roy Helu, Mike McNeill, two from Taylor Martinez and finally Jared Crick on a fumble recovery in the end zone after Alex Henry pins Texas deep on one of his few punts of the day. There will be no need for any Mr. Henry field goals this week. Husker fans enjoy the view of the University campus after the game with the scoreboard lit up in the background reminding Husker Nation of the 49 to 3 thrashing of the Longhorns. Happy trails to Texas and your arrogant fans. Sleep well Saturday night with these thoughts running through your head. 85,000 in the sea of red chanting HUSKER POWER, Go Big Red and of course THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE NEBRASKA!!!!!
  19. Without a doubt... Penn State 1982. I can think of several other calls that did not go our way, but the call that had the most impact on a game, season, and National Championship was the Penn State catch out of bounds. Nebraska and Penn State were the two best teams in the country that year, played a great game; and the wrong team won. The one second at Texas last year was heart breaking, but at least you can make a somewhat logical arguement for why it was done. ( I still say we were screwed ) But at Penn State, it was a clear cut blown call that cost us the game and National Championship in 1982.
  20. I thought Saban's pregame talk about comparing Alabama to the 1980 US hockey team was the biggest classless act of the year. Stating that Alabama needed to remember that the USA hockey team still needed to beat Finland to get the gold after defeating the Russians. Comparing Texas to Finland showed No Respect at all. How was it possible to root for either team last night? It's like asking who you'd rather have back at Nebraska Bill Callahan or Steve Pederson.
  21. I agree with your 2 cents. Comments like the Tebow Jesus healing statement embarrass the entire state of Nebraska. I think there is a time and a place for good natured joking, but throwing something like that out at this time is classless. I am glad to see that most Husker Board members will take a higher road by wishing Coach Meyer well.
