  1. I know what you mean. Nothing against the guy it just seems like he's always the one that gets burned bad. What was it the oklahoma game last year when Dennard got hurt and wouldn't come out, I was praying that he would stay in just because I thought we had a better shot with one of his arms than both of West's. He's got a lot of potential, I think Carl said it best he just needs to be a finisher. he scares me very much as well. Corner is one of those positions that if you have the athleticism West does possess-but youre unsure of yourself or hesistant- creates the perfect storm for biblical screw-ups. You get to the wrong place twice as fast. That doesnt work out well when youre alone most the time. Gotta be all in back there, or youre going to get...un-covered.... Ugh! I was done with West when he let Coale get outside of him late in the VT game, hanging O'Hanlon out to dry trying to cover two people. I agree, my buddies and i couldn't believe West left him hanging!! There was a few people bragging about the following week though.
  2. Welcome aboard. HB is about the best there is out there. Huskerpedia is also very good.
  3. PJ Smith will step in and not miss a beat, but I have to agree with Carlfense. Ankrah/Meredith will help make up for Suh being gone.
  4. We should schedule them. The only way it could be bad is if we get blown away. I mean OR lost to them and it didn,t hurt their ranking and I bet it doesn't hurt their recruiting.
  5. Who was the Nebraska Player that Brian Bozworth said, "He won't be able to lay a finger on me" and then Bozworth got pancaked and the Nebraska player did a circular motion with his finger and touched Bozworth on the nose. Let OU do the talking. Hopefully it will turn around and bite them in the butt. Wasn't Bosworth. It was the QB, Holieway, I believe. Said it about Danny Noonan. you are right. Just watched the game on espn classic.
  6. Faith is what this is about, and a dislike of OK. All it takes is a couple of things to go our way and we have a win. Let's hope the ball bounces our way. Better to be lucky than good. Can't think of any more cliche's.
  7. F THAT SH IT!! It is nowhere near as bad as '07 at this point. I would trade defense for offense for the side that is performing at a high level. At least this D can keep us in the game and possibly score points. Why is everyone giving up? This is the same gloom and doom that we had last year at 4-3 and 5-3 and we finished with 9 wins and a Gator Bowl. We are still in this race, especially with the North the way it is. Come on Husker fans, question things, wonder what ifs if you want, but don't give up. I don't know about you, but I was raised in Nebraska. Along with at least 6 generations of both sides of my family. Nebraskans don't give up. It just isn't the way we operate. We give everything we have and if it isn't good enough we go back to work, fix it, and get better no matter what the challenge is. We congratulate the best and work our ass off to get to be the best. Doing it right won't happen overnight, but if you work at it you develop a habit out of it and sustain it. That is culture, that is what they talk about it. That is the Nebraska way of doing things. This is what we were missing. It took 4 years to destroy the Nebraska way, it may take that long, or longer, to put that system back in place. I believed we would win every game, but I also understand it isn't the end of the program if we don't. Bo is going to need more than 1 1/2 years to turn this thing around. Wear Red, Be Loud, Beat Oklahoma. GO BIG RED!! We may not be as bad as 07 yet, but we are dancing the line. After 8 games in 07 we were 4-4, after 8 games in 09 we are 5-3 and had Griffin played for Baylor we would have lost. That is a one game difference. I agree that having a defense will keep us in most games, however a defense cannot sustain that type of performance without any help, just like the offense of 07. Sure they scored a bunch but didnt have any help from the opposite side. This year is the polar opposite, the defense is playing great, but they have no help from the offense. There is nothing on the offensive side of the ball that we do well, just like in 07 when the defense did absolutely nothing well. The similarities between the 07 and 09 teams are glaring right now. Yes, but we have only been beat bad ONCE and the other two were a play away from a win each.
  8. No...they are not a disappointment. They've only lost to two teams, at home, they never should have lost to. Are no longer starting the best QB, and the o-line can't open consistant holes through news paper. A team that should be, at worst, 7 -1 but is 5-3 with one of those loses being to ISU at home, is a disappointment. If they lose anymore games this year, with the exception of this Saturday, they will have moved from disappointment to joke. I agree with all except, The QB, and the moving to a joke. If we win the north that was the realistic goal this season along with a bowl game and i am confident we will do both. Sounds like we may have some fairweather fans on this board. Just saying... I believe the consenses at the end of last year was that NU would most likely be an 8-4 team and north winner(maybe). This is very possible! Like stated earlier we are 2 plays away from being 7-1. Disappointing yes, a joke NO! All of us had High expectations, but the were long shots. Please stop be ing negative.
  9. Do not disagree. But I was pointing to the fact that Gilmore will play WRs simply because they are better blockers, rather than who our playmakers are. That may have worked 10 years ago, but not in todays offense. People have some insanely short-term memories when it comes to Watson. Does no one remember what he has done the past two years? We cannot run for quite a few reasons .. Mike Smith is a horrid run blocker Jaivorio Burkes, our best lineman, is likely done Rex Burkhead is hurt Roy Helu's shoulder is messed up, badly Ricky Henry has no idea blocking assignments and just goes recklessly, especially when he pulls Jacob Hickman is hurt Mike Caputo and gets pushed around rather easily unless he gets GREAT hand placement on bigger d-lineman Barney teaches no technique, but rather ruthless aggression blocking which leads to a ton of miscues Do you want me to go on? I can, if you need me to. We did not run versus Mizzou, period. I've addressed this before. Missouri stuck 8-9 in the box, EVERY PLAY. Go back and look at the run totals - we did nothing until that last drive. While Zac was completely off, do you think it would have done any good running against a stacked box? Unless you wanted us going 3 TE sets almost every play, we weren't running that night. Wats is fine. Our recruiting is not. We have no playmakers offensively. Helu is the only guy we have who is a threat, and his shoulder is severely jacked up. Our offense suffers because we have to rely on guys like Holt, who cannot get off of press coverage to save his life. Or Niles Paul who pouts when he isn't involved heavily early and commits mental mistake after mental mistake. We had 8 turnovers. We had 4 inside the 5 yard line. Wats, and even Lee, consistently got us in position for the ISU game. But somehow, people blamed both of them. Was Wats fumbling that game? Was Lee fumbling? Or were both of them putting us in position that entire game? Coach Watson just happens to be the whipping boy right now because he is the easy target. That is unfortunate because of what he has did for us during his tenure. And the minute he goes, and we get a 'Nebraska boy' as our OC, we will see even more endless whining when we realize what we had and let go. Simply - get a playmaker. Get some talent on the field and quit relying almost entirely on Helu to shoulder the load for our entire offense. Willie: You have many excellent points. NU is lacking in talent --- and what talent we do have is banged up. This is, as you say, more likely the reason that we cannot run than is the play calling. I would only add to your excellent post this one counter --- Watson's ability to adapt with play calling in view of the lack of talent and the injuries is ALSO a problem. I agree that Watson has been the whipping boy disproportionately to his level of true guilt --- his lack of ability to coach --- he is a decent (if not necessarily very good) coach who is being impugned for being awful. He is not an awful coach. He is decent --- with less than B12 average talent. And several of the key talented people are missing entirely due to injury or are the walking wounded. The team has problems with talent, recruiting, discipline, and coaching --- on the offensive side of the ball, primarily. All of these problems is combination is what yields the product we see on the field. And there is one more problem --- maybe the biggest problem --- the players are discouraged, and some of them appear timid and even scared of failure. They are under great pressure to perform and this seems like a team that is really pressing. For our part we need to support them hugely --- no matter what --- that we as a fan base might alleviate some of what is causing them to press so hard. 8 turnovers can only be the result of a team that is really, really out of sorts and pressing. We'll see how they respond. For our part lets respond by cheering them on and hoping for the best. AMEN! stop being pessimists, start wereing rose colored glasses so that we can see the good and be OPTIMISTIC!
  10. nevermind! I was watching that 'tra la la' video from those A&M guys, confused me a little bit We do not need to score a lot to win the north or B12 con. All we need to do is score 15-20 pt per game. our defense will keep the opp. score low. The offense just has to help by eating up time and scoreing some. What is with all the negativity with some people?
  11. I am a Cody Green fan. I can't wait for him to start, but think about what we are saying. Bo sees these kids every day at practice and we have trusted his opinion and praised his ability to coach. Maybe Lee is how best chance or, God forbid, maybe Bo knows more than we do?
  12. Bo sent a message on twitter making fun of the rumors saying he was going to miss the game. This all started because Helu missed practice tuesday for not feeling well and an academic conflict. Calm down evryone.
  13. OHanlon missed a few plays, but West has had more missed assignments. Dennard will be fine.

  15. Then your point is weaker if you're only talking about 2009. You're claiming "Missouri has backed up their smack" and Nebraska hasn't. You're basing this on... what? Missouri's 111th ranked SOS? Four creampuffs is hardly "backing up smack." I am basing this off the fact that MU has owned NU the last few years and they have won the most recent games against us. What was the score of last years NU vs. MU game? And the year before that? They have beaten NU most recently. Sure we own the series but they have throttled us the last few years. Because they beat NU last year, they have every and all rights to talk smack against NU and their fans. How the tide turns is for NU to step up and win. They do this and the MU smack stops. If not, it continues. It's just that simple..... I love how your argument changes. Now that we've got your argument pinned down, my original comment to you stands - your argument would carry a lot more weight if this was last year. Chase is gone, Maclin is gone, both Coordinators are gone, and this is not as talented a team as Missouri 2008. All this "scoreboard" talk is cheap. It carries as much weight as Nebraska's 30+ game advantage in the all-time series. None of those guys are playing this year. Points don't carry forward. We have this year and this year only on which to base opinions, and Missouri's resume to this point isn't as good as Nebraska's. My point(s) haven't changed on bit. Instead of trying to pin anybody's point, you should try comprehension first. Just sit back read. Feel free to continue to move your lips as you do. Don't attack the person, attack the argument. Never attacked you or your opinion. Just telling it like it is. sorry dude, but Knapplc is correct. you did backtrack on what you said: " 2008 is a moot point as I'm talking about 2009." "I am basing this off the fact that MU has owned NU the last few years and they have won the most recent games against us. What was the score of last years NU vs. MU game? And the year before that? " i have sat back and not said anything but you do that every time you get into a back and forth conversation and someone says something that makes your previous point moot even though it is right there in front of you. it gets old watching your posts stick their collective feet in your mouth and you still think you are correct! Now back on topic, the 2009 game is not played in 2008 (MU win) or 2006 (NU win) for that matter! the game is played in 2009 and currently NU has proven more than MU has. your argument is baseless and does not hold water...sorry. Sorry dude, but I didn't backtrack. If it gets so old, then don't look. Try to realize the topic before attempting to come back to it. And yes, my post holds more water than every body of water worldewide put together. Thanks for posting though. It was awesome. you absolutely didnt even say how your post holds all this mythical water! you now have 3 people in this thread saying that you are wrong......you did backtrack. i know what the topic is and was and your argument holds absolutely no water. how does 2008 (a team with loads of different players) affect 2009? it doesnt. just like when MU fans tell us that it doesnt matter what happened in 1983...it also does not matter what happened in 2008! they are correct in that instance.. thanks for playing./ I am new to this site, but I agree with the real fans. You changed your arguement when you couldn't back it up.
