  1. alright well now to me it sounds like its getting out of hand. we want a powerful running game but also a spread offense so we can have fast quarterbacks who can throw with great receivers who are fast etc etc. it now sounds to me like we just want to have an offense thats damn good at everything... if we can run an effective spread offense with a powerful running game that has the ability to impose its will on defenses then this will be the best offense in NCAA history.. good luck with that
  2. well 'bama's offense consists of pounding the rock, play action passes, and quick drop back passes. dunno if turner's the guy for that kind of offense... his video consists of all shotgun, one formation that bama never runs
  3. if wonder if pelini's comments today that our offense is going to be like Alabama's in the future just lost us jamal turner... don't get me wrong i'm all for being a power running team with good passing too, in fact i've been dying for that the last few years... but thats not jamal turners thing. i'd be surprised if he comes here now
  4. easily undefeated right now and playing Bama. last year our offense ate up the clock. our defense would have a lot of rest thus would be even BETTER
  5. Agreed. Everything i've read about Martinez has been nothing but positive. I've heard that he's being stubborn and that the coaches want to move him to defense and he refuses. I've also heard that he's hated by his teammates and that his roommate, Eric Martin, wants to switch out of his room next semester...
  6. 1. Oklahoma 2009 2. Colorado 2008 3. @ Kansas 2009 4. Colorado 2000 5. Kansas 2008 Hard for me to put any Callahan era games in here... otherwise games such as Kansas 2006 would be in contention Hardest games to swallow... 1. Iowa State 2009 2. Oklahoma State 2007 3. Ball State 2007 4. Missouri 2008 5. Texas 2006 6. Texas Tech 2005 7. Texas 2002 Notice how there are more listed in the hard to swallow??
  7. ok but who is even looking to move over as the backup?
  8. who's even expected to compete for it? obviously caputo but who else is looking to snap the ball?
  9. yeah the announcers (it's always Cunningham and Franklin) kept saying he was a WR when he got here. he was listed as a WR as a recruit, but from the day he stepped foot in Lincoln, im fairly sure he has always been a corner
  10. Yep, lets do the wave.!! That frustrates me more than anything. I never remember doing the wave back in the 90's....unless we were up like 70-3. Why do people feel the need to get the wave going during the game...come on students...watch the game and cheer. The worst thing was this year during the Oklahoma game when we were on defense and the student section tried to start the wave...it failed...and they booed the stadium...GET REAL. All these chants and waves are just novelty things that aren't necessary. Just stand up and be loud. I'm a student and I hate the wave. It's for when the fans are bored, and unless it's a baseball game or a blowout, there's no reason we should have them in Memorial. I do my part in not participating in the wave and usually am called a "fun hater". For me, unlike many students, the fun happens on the field.
  11. this probably isn't the right mind set to have but i'm friends with a player on the team who says that everyone talks trash on Kody behind his back. apparently he isn't a very good teammate and really wouldn't be a good leader which makes me root for Green to win the starting job.. my friend is the same guy who said lee was not going to be good at all this year based on spring and summer practices, even with all the hype he was getting. so i trust his assessment on Kody Spano too
  12. yeah i started a thread about it but i dont think its on the main board anymore. for how clutch alex henery is... adi kunalic sure is anti-clutch
  13. in this decade, watson has had two, and by that i mean 2, offenses in the top 5 of the Big XII. he's average. but the cancer is definitely gilmore. not sure about cotton yet but he's on the radar.
  14. Cornhusker for life.... I guess life means only a few days
  15. Arizona is light years ahead of KState. Are they a real threat to beat us? Absolutely. If their defense is as good as their numbers suggest, then the NU offense will be fortunate to put the ball in the endzone even once --- that is on a 80 yard type drive. Perhaps with some short fields we can do something, but the NU offense is as bad as ANY offense in D1. That makes ANY team a threat to beat us. Arizona not only is a threat to beat us, they may be favorites to beat us. Our D is great, yes. But our offense is beyond pathetic. hence my words "no threat of beating us without huge offensive mistakes" if we play our conservative offense.. the offense that we beat oklahoma and should have beat texas with.. we will win this game
  16. i expect this to be similar to our K-State game. they are a decent team that really should be no threat of beating us without our huge offensive mistakes. if we punch it in the end zone even one time i think we win this game. we can't have big turnovers in our own territory. add a few field goals and i feel like 16 points will be enough to win it.
  17. sarcasm isn't funny if you indicate it is sarcasm. nice work nexus and karawithasmile
  18. he was too late in getting to tyrod taylor he was too early in getting to colt mccoy
  19. you have to remember this... nebraska fans are very active. i'm sure alot of husker fans are finding twitters or facebooks of voters who have suh as number one, so they report it to stiffarmtrophy.com... this obviously is going to skew the websites votes for now another point you have to look at... alot of voters who have already posted their top 3 will vote suh just from pure excitement from last night. the guys who turn in ballots later tonight or tomorrow are the guys who didn't react to last nights performance and are truly thinking about it as long as they possibly can he obviously deserves it but i think he'll finish 3rd behind the winner, toby gerhart, and mark ingram
  20. the reffing was horrible last night, but it didn't favor texas any. one of the biggest miscalls was when the UT kick returned fell on the one. he didin't have the ball so we caught a huge break and they were lucky we didn't get a safety out of it. anyways... whether or not the :01 was reviewable, the fact is there should have been one second left. the game is 60:00, not 59:59, so Texas won the game, no matter how stupid Colt McCoy's last play was.
  21. exactly. don't forget to add McNeill and Harper
  22. well Clausen doesn't have Nebraska's defense. Barkley is still a Freshman and i'm saying by next year he'll be great, as much as i hate to say it. I just hate how everybody is giving up on Cody Green. "we need Tyler Gabbert next year!" stuff like that. Green will be a great QB here, and we learned this year that a decent offense will make us a great team.
  23. jimmy clausen was dreadful his freshman season. now he's going to be the highest QB drafted in the NFL this year. even his sophomore season wasn't good until he lit up hawaii. matt barkley is struggling greatly right now. neither of these guys have to learn 300-play playbooks (still have no idea why watson has to do this). next year the offense will be fine. niles paul is emerging as a playmaker on an offense with no others. brandon kinnie is an emerging star. and to think that these two may not be our best receivers! (see antonio bell, who will be an absolute beast) maybe curtis carter can even compete. we'll have 3 playmakers at receiver next season, as long as we have the QB to get them the ball, and Cody will be that man. roy helu will be a monster if he stays healthy (big if though). burkhead will be a solid number 2. dontrayevous is going to be good too. if shawn watson remembers about the position known as the Tight End (it's a bigger receiver who helps the offensive line with blocking too), we have Mike McNeill and Chase Harper. let's cross our fingers the o-line is better. Smith had a decent year, and he returns. Keith Williams is pretty solid and he returns. Let's hope Caputo steps up. Ricky Henry (minus bonehead penalties) is very good. we need an answer at right tackle, but we redshirted some supposedly pretty good kids this year. our offense could be very good next season. Cody Green throwing to Niles Paul, Brandon Kinnie, Antonio Bell, Mike McNeill, and Chase Harper. Green handing it off to Helu, Burkhead, and Tray. We just need that o-line to step up. defensively, we obviously lose Suh, Turner, Dillard, Asante, and O'Hanlon. Suh is irreplaceable (what if Bo coached him for four years). Turner was solid but not incredible. Dillard will be greatly missed. Asante's personal fouls in the second half of the season has trumped his incredible play. O'Hanlon, tough kid with great heart to bounce back from Va Tech, but everyone knows he's replaceable. We return Allen, Crick, Hagg, Gomes, Prince, Dennard, West, then for 4-3 purposes, Fisher and Compton. Our d-line will be our biggest downgrade, but still very good with Meredith, Allen, and Ankrah competing for the 2 end spots. (my sources have told me that Ankrah has been practicing with the number one defense recently, obviously not playing due to his redshirt). Crick and Baker in the middle with T-Mo as a darkhorse for starting. Linebackers, well we usually only use one or two, and i'm sure players will step up between Compton, E-Mart, Chris Williams, and i guess Fisher... Secondary, only question mark is safety. We hopefully get Rickey back, but we still will have P.J. Smith and Dijon Washington, and maybe Corey Cooper Our defense will be equal to this years IMO even without Suh. The offense has potential to be in the top 30 rather than the top 100. we still have some kid named Alex Henery. and our schedule stacks up favorably. I'm predicting an undefeated season, winning the Big XII championship, and going to the National Championship vs either Bama or USC.
  24. i will always love nebraska and every player that ever comes to this program. but to deny the fact that a certain player or players can lose a game is ridiculous. this is a message board to discuss topics. some topics have to do with which players lost games for us. if we give them credit for winning a game they have to have the guts to accept the fact that they can lose a game too
