  1. You forgot Barney Cotton, he needs to go with Watson and Gilmore. All three have shown a level of ineptitude that is unbelievable.
  2. The writer did not criticize continuing in the Wildcat, nor did he allude to it not being safe enough. The center made a mistake on the snap, that's it, nothing more and that's all the writer said.
  3. 49ers under Bill Walsh....it didn't matter if Joe Montana, Steve Young or Steve Bono started, the 49ers won. That's just one example.
  4. Farley rocked on the field and I agree, I hated to see him go. Still, it was Farley's actions that made Osborne kick him off the team. I've just never understood why some of these great talents piss it all away. Farley probably could have been a great NFL linebacker.
  5. Tom Osborne always felt that these troubled young men needed help not rejection and most of the time it worked out for the best that way. It just didn't work out that way with Philips. Heck, Philips couldn't pull his head out of his anal orifice even after being a first round NFL draft pick. He could have been one of the all time greats in the NFL and become wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. Instead he squandered his talent. I can find no fault with Osborne for Philips antics, Osborne did what he could to be a mentor and help this young man. i think we all feel that way, and that is the point, we can easily defend TO, but to the public, that tarnished his stellar reputation. LP tainted that championship, the program, and TO; ergo, he left the biggest black eye, bar none. The masses just need to be educated on Osborne's policies. Osborne kicked more than one player off his teams when they didn't want to straighten their act out. Terrel Farley is one.
  6. Scott Baldwin had (still does afaik) a mental issue that wasn't known until the first incident. After that he was put on medication to control his condition but later on he forgot (or just quit taking it) to take his meds and went on another rampage. Unfortunate for sure, but a someone going off the deep end because of a medical condition does not compare to what Philips did of his own free will.

  8. he was the big stain on the Husker carpet that covered the 90's. and still to this day, the Nebraska handling of the LP fiasco is bought up from time to time by the national media. And that's why I voted for Lawrence Philips. That was a fiasco that played out on the national stage, and still does from time to time. Pedersen is nothing compared to that fiasco.
  9. Now that is funny!! I also see some truth to it as well.
  10. Riiiiight...... That's why Milt Tenopir went to so many practices eh? That's why Callahan said former players and coaches were welcome any time. People forget that there were former players on both sides of the fence, some said they felt welcome and others said they didn't feel welcome.
  11. It wouldn't have mattered who was hired after Solich was fired, there would have been a fracture in the fan base because of Solich's firing. No one was going to get a fair shot from the entire fan base. I agree wholeheartedly with your post. *Edit* Well, Turner Gill probably would have gotten a fair shot from the full fan base.
  12. You obviously forget how Callahan called Nebraska a destination job and how he wanted to finish out his career here.
  13. I don't know, sure was plain as day that money was a factor, but with a few of his staff confirming his treatment of the James kid, he was in the wrong... but I am sure he has a viable wrongful termination argument or whatever you call it... Link?
  14. Actually, I need to know for a non-football board I visit. It's a question that was asked and there is enough people here that we should be able to come up with at least 5 games where this same thing has happened but no review was done.
  15. It couldn't have anything to do with our pathetic offense could it?
  16. Can we name 5 games that have ended as the clock ran out like the CCG nearly did before the replay official decided to review it? What I'm looking for is the zebras letting the last 1 or 2 seconds run off the clock and it not being reviewed. I know it has happened, I've seen it, I just can think of which games it has happened in.
  17. Joe set a record for interceptions thrown.......he was pretty darn bad, not sure if Lee is that bad.....yet.....
  18. I'm new to this board so I don't know who your 3 stooges are. Mine would be Watson, Gilmore and Cotton.
