  1. After second viewing... Get rid of that quick frame with the Sears trophy in it, it's distracting, uncoordinated, and looks like a*s. If you're intent of having a trohpy in the frame than either crop it out and set it on top of the video, or set it no either one of the corners or 1/3 of the video (vertical 3rds) and fade it over the video itself. get rid of the white background picture on top of a black default background just randomly flashing. the outro is good, like the fade from the music to commentary, but you don't let the commentry complete, you cut it off halfway as the announcer is about the tell the rest of the B12 what to watch out for, it's extremely anti-climactic. Finish the audio clip. Add in some fluff big red Ns or another clip if you need, but don't cut off the announcer in the middle of his audio if you have already commited to using the clip.
  2. First, the dramatic music in the beginning is alright, but if you're convinced that a heart-felt, deep-feeling slow and heavy montage is the way to start this video, than have the image reflect he music. Slow the clips down (Full time, high-speed football stands in stark and unfriendly contrast to the largo/larghetto audio. Maybe slow the video down, put it in a softer sepia (as opposed to harsh greyscale) and add some nice feathering around the edges. Just ideas to make it fit better. Second, the transition from the intro to the main video is sheit. The quick audio change coupled with the L to R 'arrow' fade is pungent in a bad way, get a softer fade for the music from one to the other (focus on keeping the measured beats the same for a few seconds to let the listener's ear adjust from one to the other) and the video transition needs more than a pre-designed fade. Perhaps fade one clip slowly out from LtR while the other, from the new season fades in at the same speed from RtL, even better, if you get both clips of the same type (pass, run, tackle, etc.) Once you get to the main part of the video, it's not enough to just play music and highlight clips, you need to give us some transitions between the clips as well as line up the video with the music. Do your best to punctuate major points in the video (catches, hits, etc.) with major beats in the music (or at least lesser, as needed No one will notice if you slow down or speed up clips about 1.2/0.8x in the long run, but they will absolutely notice if the heavy beat of the music times out perfectly with a good, solid video of an amazing hit. Looks like you've got a great foundation going though look forward to seeing your future work. FYI - I'm a bit of a pretentious little b***h when it comes to video editing, so don't take my words as strictly criticism, just things to think about as you continue to get better in your editing capacity. 3. Their women are hot and obviously don't know any better
  4. Not gonna toot my own horn - but seriously kids, ...told ya'
  5. I'll drink several glasses tonight - but I'll not promote it as a good lifestyle choice just yet. Once it wears off around Sunday, and after seeing the rest of the B12 play Saturday, I'll than decide whether or not to imbibe further.
  6. Signed, Craiggers Greatest fans in college football, yes. I'll never boo an opponent for entering the field, or cheer on someone else's pain/injury. I'll never let smack talk and homerism get in the way of hard facts. But there comes a point when the most helpful thing you can do is be brutally honest with someone. Just like your fat friend who wears clothes a bit too tight. Just like your drunk friend who doesn't realize what an as*hole he is after a few pitchers. Just like your whorey friend who doesn't realize how no one respects her for her mind, we must let our purples brethren to the south know that no one has ever, or will ever, see them as a serious threat until they make significant changes. GBR
  7. I posted a long time ago when the rumors first started circulating, but I have some friends/family in the UNL facilities dept and they have stated as follows: The expansion will be a complete re-vamp of the east stadium. Like the west stadium, the original facade (Along with the GREATEST FANS gate) will remain intact, and a newer, more modern stadium will be built more or less around/on it. Club level seats as well as more press/skyboxes will be added, though it will be shorter than the west stadium beheamoth. The new stadium will extend out past where the current national championships statue is (Towards Vine St.) No word yet on whether or not the statue will be moved or built around. No idea if any tech upgrades are planned for this expansion, hopefully that sound system gets rebuilt though, it's a bit brutal to listen to . Take me at my word perilously, but I've heard this from multiple sources who ought to know.
  8. NU - 48 KSU - 17 Passing - 185 Rushing - 310 Plus, I'll throw out that KSU will turn it over to NU 3 times, 2 of those will be returned by the blackshirts for 6. NU will turn the ball over one time as Martinez fumbles while getting sacked (1 of 2 times he'll be sacked today)
  9. OU. Sure, before this weekend, it might have been better for an undefeated UT to come to Lincoln, but the more I think about it, the more poetic justice will be wrought when a weak and bruised UT team comes to Lincoln, where the Huskers put them out of their misery, and undefeated OU/NU meet in the BXII CCG to play for a spot in the NCG. It'll bring the evolution full circle, plus it'd be great to see Texas fall out of national prominence in just a few pathetic, short months so that we won't have to hear about the daggum longhorns again for many years. Also, that may hasten the breakup of the B12 (Which we all know is coming), and that means that OU will be the biggest hot-ticket item for either the B10 or the SEC...
  10. http://huskerextra.com/sports/football/article_86ec9380-c770-11df-8496-001cc4c03286.html One of the advantages to being a night-person (I'm a bartender) is that I'm the first one to see the days news (Which is post a little after 12:15am, FYI). Turns out, big news this week, SDSU will be the first school to feel the wrath of the TRUE blackshirts. Too early? Too soon? IDK. Personally, I would've waited until after Kansas State, but then again, I'm a bartender and not the head coach, so I'll defer to Bo's judgement here. CONGRATULATIONS BLACKSHIRTS!
  11. So Jim Rome is rocking for Bo/Nebraska/Martinez right now. I'm transcribing the soundbites as fast as I can, because they're awesome. Pretty sure he said that Bo is going to be on the show yet this afternoon. ----- "I'll say it for the first time - Nebraska will beat Texas. Nebraska. Will. Beat. Texas" "They're on schedule, they're AHEAD of schedule." "Martinez on his first road test left that field looking more like a Heisman candidate than Locker." "Yeah, we're doing well, there's still a million things we could do better - JR Quoting Bo" "Their defense is awesome, they're dominating, and they're doing it all without Ndamukong Suh" "(Talking about TM)[They] Got the right guy, in the right system, showed incredible poise and composure on the road." ------ :koolaid2:
  12. All-in-all, I actually saw a LOT of things that made me smile inside (As I drank my Husker Red Kool-Aid...with rum...to excess...). KState, our big 'Conference Opener Challenge' had to really work to beat ISU (Then again, considering what ISU did in our house last year, I can't put too much stock into that just yet), TA&M Struggled, OU BARELY skated by Air Force, and Texas had to pull some magic to get away from TTech. Meanwhile, the Huskers go ON THE ROAD, to the LOUDEST STADIUM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, and hang 50+ points on a time while corralling and embarrassing an elite quarterback. Gonna go have me some more Kool-aid right now... :D :D :D :D :D :D
  13. UNDER - But just barely, I'll bet NP does pick up one great (50+ yds) return in the first half though. Only reason I don't think he'll pick up huge numbers receiving is that a bit of mist/rain makes a slippery ball and with a rather inexperienced passer in T-M I see them going up for shorter throws and keeping it down more. OVER/UNDER 3 - times NU has to punt.
  14. Part about Phil Steele's predictions I like most this week though? UT losing to TTech by 1...
  15. Over. WAY over. OVER/UNDER: Taylor Martinez comes out of the game with 1.5 more nicknames. OVER. Considering the official voting thread here on Huskerboard has, I believe, EIGHT names, most of which have received at least one vote. OVER/UNDER - 2 seasons (The rest of this season and next one) ...How long Lou Holtz has before he retires from broadcasting (spittle).
  16. Without mentioning any names, I have some close friends and family in the facilities department at the university who have said that the planned expansion is basically a complete renovation of the east stadium, including the addition of skybox/club seating at the top. It is supposed to expand far enough that the statue will need to be moved, no idea where to yet. I've also heard that they've all but publicly stated that they'll break ground as soon as this season is over (Because really, are the reagents going to reject this?) to have it ready for our first season in the 10. But you didn't hear it from me...
  17. Not sure if I cared too much about this game, but as a former Marine, a find myself quietly pleased that Navy pulled this one out. Well, rather TOOK it by the balls and bu...you get the idea. Hopefully this'll shut the missouri fans up in the offseason, but probably not .
  18. I wouldn't worry about the selection... 1) It's a high-profile game in a pro stadium, the band will be overshadowed by the sound system for all the 'filler' music, they'll only have to pep up when the Huskers score and a few other times...times when 'Hail Varsity' will do just fine, lol. 2) Nebraska high school bands usually have a few of the UNL songs in their repertoire anyway...especially those from Lincoln 3) Since they're a 'stand band' they can play whatever they want as long as they get the sheets for it, no shame in reading music in the stands, I'm sure the coverage team will do a blip about the fact that a HS band is filling in, so no harm no foul. .... Now for the more troubling question: I keep hearing this rumor that plane tickets that were reserved for the band were given to big name donors/alums, thus forcing the band onto the busses, which the weather forced into a stay-at-home. This obviously sounds exactly like the kind of thing nasty rumors are made of (It's always fun to blame to school for giving kickbacks to 'the man' provided he writes fat checks ) but it's also troubling if it's true. Ooooh, I love a good conspiracy!!!!
  19. OUTSTANDING! . LOL, as an alum of the Lincoln Southeast (LSE) Marching Knights, I'm stoked for their opportunity . I can tell you that MOST LIKELY they were in town for the Holiday Bowl parade anyway, it's common practice for multiple (Read: 50+) high school bands to attend bowl game parades, and since travel plans for high school kids, especially with regard to fundraising and such, are usually made more then a year in advance, the fact that the Lincoln Southeast band is marching in the Holiday Bowl Parade, and the Huskers are playing in the game, is merely convenient circumstance in this case, and I'm glad to see that there's some good ol' Nebraska kids there to pick up the slack . . I'm disappointed that the University didn't do more to get the UNL Band there, but I'm excited for the opportunity it presented. . Myself, I missed out on the Holiday bowl parade in 02', but did the Fiesta Bowl parade in 04'. . Yeah, I was a band loser, so sue me...
  20. http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/82...st-them-gabbert I know there's a recruiting forum for this, but thought I'd share it here just the same to get thoughts and opinions. IMHO - not a big loss, especially not if he was planning on passing '40 times a game' as quoted in the article. A QB who wants to pass that much tells me one thing - that he doesn't want to get hit and have to be physical with the ball. He is visiting MU later this week. Perhaps Crick will be kind enough to carry on the tradition of showing former commits just how much it hurts to line up against the blackshirts . There's also some speculation that his decision might be sparked by insider knowledge of a coaching change (Specifically at OC) as that is sometimes the case when recruits suddenly change their mind, but I'm guessing that's more rumor than anything. EDIT - Apparently this is late news, my apologies, that'll teach me to rely on ESPN for things
