  1. true, but Bo is a below average recruiter... this is well known, so don't kool aide it. Bo believes success on the field translates into recruiting. This is true. But it also works both ways... (i.e. the offense) it's just a dumb hypothetical q anyways... Bo and Carl can surely coach and get the most out of what they have on defense. Offensively, I don't have a single good feeling about anything the coaches did this year, nor going forward. Bo is just a glorified defensive coordinator in my opinion. Likely the best one out there, but he is no head coach.
  2. oh, there is no doubt that Suh benefited from the coaching... no doubt at all. would Bo's recruiting ability have landed Suh to begin with? Not so sure. He's landing 5 DE this class, but that is only because of Suh's success on the field. Has nothing to do with Bo's recruiting prowess... which is not his strength.
  3. No, Pelini would not have landed Suh.
  4. The good: The Nebraska defense, just reflecting on the year, what was accomplished by the team was nothing short of astonishing. I am floored at how well NU played defensively this year. Not just Suh either.. but he was a big part of it. NU got about 3 weeks of great press, from all the awards, to the game with Texas, to heisman trophy festivities. One of the things NU did, was put our name back into national discussions. The Bad: I don't want to harp on this point. Complete breakdown of any kind of serviceable offense. Continued recruiting issues on offense. Bo may be a head coach by title, but hasn't proved it yet. Bo has proved he is a great defensive mind. He hasn't proved he is a great head coach yet. Watson, uhm. The Ugly: we hear all this stuff about the offense changing. Sounds like now, it's not a power or option running game, but a spread offense. Conclusion Here is what I think... Bo tried to run the ball more, based on osbourne's suggestions. Watson hates doing what he had to do this season, and that is well chronicled. Bo likes a spread offense, which sits better with watson than an option or power running game. So, what are we going to get? The WCO will be gone. Watson's new Spread will be the offense of the future. Will this work? l
  5. The fact of the matter is this... the big 12 does need some re-organizing, and everyone knows this. The fact the Nebraska has gotten allot of great press the last 3 weeks isn't unfounded either, but the North has got to be more competitive. KSU made a nice run, but I doubt "Mr Pinocchio" will be there more than 4 more years. We do need to balance out the conference, and the Big 10 will add a team next year. Whether or not this includes a current big 12 team, I don't know. I do know it won't be notre dame. That university likes having the freedom to do what it wants to do, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. So, with the Big 10 expanding, it is only natural to discuss the big 12 (ranked second to last this year, of conferences) and strengthening it for the future. I don't mind having a Texas only southern big 12 personally. You would have major powerhouses to balance it and make it fair. It would restore some traditions, keep others, and get rid of the riff raff in the north.
  6. I do think MU will consider it. It makes sense from allot of standpoints. There is another thread about this.
  7. BeachBuffs, yes you deserve credit, I stole your idea cause it made sense.
  8. I hate that. We have too much Texas influence in the Big 12 today. Adding more Texas to the league would be a real bad move. you mean you are upset that Texas would have their own southern half of a conference? Seriously, why would that be a negative in your view? I'm curious
  9. perfect, send Mizzu to the Big 10. It does fit well. Yes, I'm serious
  10. I liked your post, you bring up some excellent points. I'm not sure I would want the NCAA to run it though... definitely food for thought. TY
  11. ira lol... CU isn't our rival, but I get your joke! Basically, it boils down to just Texas schools in the south, vs the northern schools from OK, KS, NE, and Iowa State.
  12. They are more interested in MU than NU. Agreed, the last thing the Big 10 wants is NU in their conference. Nu doesn't want to be a part of that conference either. If we are going to do a conference shuffle, then I do like the idea of: North: Nebraska Kansas Kansas State Oklahoma Oklahoma State Iowa State South: Texas Texas Tech Texas A&M Houston Baylor TCU Colorado can go to some other conference, I don't really care.
  13. it isn't a marquee game, it isn't something to get super excited over, this is from a fan's perspective, not from the teams perspective. I think Bo has a 1 game season perspective and a jump start to next year. Bo and his team do not lose bowl games.
  14. Heavy sets run game, play action pass. Option is likely coming back as well. Bo is on record for having some intrigue on the option. Spring game should be very experimental
  15. to answer the OP (original poster's) question... NO I'm sure enough discussion above gives appropriate reasons.
  16. yeah, pretty nice film... fast, makes good decisions, I really like his film the more I watch it.
  17. Aaron has every opportunity in the world to come and retire his NU jersey and make a legacy for himself at NU. We are building, and have always had a good stable of running backs out of Nebraska. It has dipped, but even during BC era, we always got good backs, and that is a Nebraska tradition. There are only a few other teams that also can claim running back success like we have had. Oklahoma is one of them. I expect Aaron will be at the spring game
  18. we go back to having multiple linebackers when the spread offense dies, which is already happening.. it is not just NU that is looking at power football sets these days...
  19. one thing I wouldn't rule out, is that Dr. Tom has told the staff he would teach them this stuff. if the staff is on board, this could really allow them to expand their horizons and learn even more professionally. I do think Shawn would be down with that. I think it will take 2 years, and Bo might not be patient enough for that. I am expecting to see option football this spring.
  20. iffs and butts, whatever.. I think the team made major progress defensively. Offensively we also took 2 steps back. I think Bo will address the offense after the bowl game. They already have plans. There are some really good positives about this year. Nebraska has gotten ALLOT and I mean ALLOT of great press over the past several weeks. Winning the North All the "Spoiler Alert" stuff leading up to the Championship game. Almost/Should have beat Texas. All the fallout from that. The Bowl projections, and continued talk about NU. Suh being invited to the Heisman trophy award. Suh cleaning house on 4 other awards. Turner Gill being named head coach of Kansas always brings back a story of the Huskers. It's been an awesome media frenzy where NU is getting some big time national attention and respect. So, the offense is going to change, but there is no doubt that NU has been placed back on the map in the national discussions.
  21. I'm pretty sure the offensive philosophy is going to change. There is a good thread over on rumorville. I think option football is coming back, and I wonder if that might include Frank Solich. The recruiting changes (commits/decommits) also reflect this. Aaron Green is still the number 1 recruit for 2011 for NU.
  22. I wanted to add another thing to this.. I was just thinking about coaches that know how to run option football. Frank Solich came to mind. Yes I know he is a head coach at Ohio, but what would you all think about Frank as an OC?
