  1. Last year, Armstrong passed 31 times against Illinois and Nebraska lost. Last year, Riley had the back up quarterback throw 48 times against Purdue and Nebraska lost. Those two games might be responsible for some of that perception.
  2. I guess I parted ways with "Husker fans" when they started injecting themselves into the spotlight as much or more than the team or the game. Look at all of the angst about whether "WE keep OUR sellout record." Look at how many people here fell all over themselves to see who could be the nicest to an obvious Oregon Duck troll who ended up making @sses out of them a few weeks back...because they wanted to prove just how wonderful they were to each other and to him. Look at all of the posts castigating "the blue hairs" who won't (or can't) stand all game and are perfectly willing to be @sshats and block their view to prove that, although they are lousy human beings, are "the world's greatest fans" for doing so. Look at the venom and hate Pelini invoked because he was mad at the fans after the Ohio State victory and said that Nebraska could kiss his @ss...conveniently forgetting that it came after he took great offense of Husker fans booing his team at the half. (After the comeback win, notice how it went from being "Pelini's team" to "OUR" team) I still have the picture...do you want to see it again, or do you want to explain it away (again) with out seeing a disgusted Bo waving off "The world's greatest fans"? And THAT was Pelini's one, great unforgivable sin: He didn't love Nebraska fans as much as they thought he should have, and Hell hath no fury like a lover scorned. Sort of like Texas is with everybody leaving the Big 12. Anyhow, one person's troll may be nothing more than a mirror that tells the Evil Queen that she might not be "the fairest of them all." Either way, I can live with it. Can you live with the fact that some people might not think Nebraska fans are all that they make themselves out to be?
  3. Actually, I had bet any and all comers that Riley wouldn't win nine games, or else I would disappear from the forum forever. I think only one fan boy took me up on that... ...I never held him to it and I don't remember who it was. It was probably you, wasn't it? Anyhow, thanks for the post, I'm glad I got a rise out of you. However, I am not a "fan"...I just watch Nebraska football for better or worse. I like the team, Riley seems to be learning his job, but I don't care for Nebraska fans getting into their self worship of how great they are.
  4. .I think if you could have separated Riley from all of those guys that went on and on about Pelini dumping Nebraska, there probably aren't any "Riley Haters", as much as there was extreme dislike for those who raved about Riley just because they hated that Pelini dissed them in some way, thinking everything Nebraska is all about the almighty fan base (read "me"). Honestly, I enjoyed watching many sputter and splutter and choke on several great big helpings of crow after blowing and crowing about how "Anybody can get nine wins at Nebraska!!"...and then having to get slapped in the face by reality. The Purdue game was especially gratifying. Now that is done, I would like to see Nebraska beat Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota in the same year. I want Nebraska to surpass Texas and Notre Dame in ALL of the listings for all time wins. I would like to see a B1G championship...but everything in its own time. I wouldn't have been able to enjoy it if I didn't get to have last season first.
  5. Our(?) Fans Not Happy with Matty Ice! I may or may not post later in the secret chat room located underneath the Woodshed via a virtual trap door. Tweet me a picture of yourself performing the secret handshake with another Insider and either I will or I won't give you access to all of this story or else I'll redirect you to some other click bait page.
  6. That space that Pelini still rents inside your head...was that a 99-year lease you both signed?
  7. I felt like after that spot on the fourth down play, the offensive line might have been thinking, "That was too close! This isn't happening any more!" Then the holes seemed to be four foot wider from that point onwards.
  8. It's like crack cocaine in a bright yellow roll...I can quit it any time I want...I'll tell YOU when I have had enough!
  9. Roger Craig didn't realize his full potential until he was in the NFL. That being said, his place on the list at Nebraska is probably right It would be great to see a list of the top ten runners, including QBs...I wonder how that would shake up the list.
  10. Let me guess: Neither of you keep the heart and liver from the deer you shoot, either.
  11. He got worked that second half, that's for sure. He also showed that he could switch from a plow horse to a thoroughbred in about three steps.
  12. 5-0 is its own argument, regardless of who, and when and where. There are a thousand ways NOT to be 5-0 right now, but those scenarios haven't happened. People watch Armstrong nonchalantly run through defenses for 15 yards and a first down and probably value that more than those of us who have seen it for the last four years. Now add the receiver corps and a resurgent running game (and by that I definitely include an offensive line that doesn't blow up every other drive with a penalty and can push a quarterback sneak into the secondary). Last is a defense that turns in a good day's work every outing so far and we see a team that isn't flashy at all...but there is that 5-0 and all wins earned, not given.
  13. I would give it to the offensive line and the guys blocking on the perimeter. We had some absolutely fantastic blocking all year from the receivers. Newby made the most of the holes, but somebody had to make those holes.
  14. Nobody is happy with anybody else these days in Memorial Stadium. There is always too much sitting, standing, kneeling or whatever by someone and somebody always knows what everybody else should or shouldn't do. ...with the exception of me getting a free Big Mac when we get a sack on the opposing team's quarterback, that makes me happy, even if I don't go buy one today. So the Big Macs are what I am focusing on these days.
  15. http://social.quintevents.com/bid/204365/The-Top-10-Winningest-College-Football-Teams-and-Coaches-of-All-Time I have found the "official counts" split 50-50 on this since looking at it last season. I guess there is one "official, official" total, but there is some gray areas. Here is one that lists Yale as #2: http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/15-winningest-college-football-programs-all-time/ ... just like national championships, with people claiming national championships where none exist..."Why hello, Texas A&M! We were just talking about you!""
  16. Freedom Akinmoladun fights the problem of world hunger with a sack and comes through for all of Nebraska!
  17. This was the number of all time wins of the top four programs in college football before anybody played today: 1. Michigan 915 2. Texas 884 3. Notre Dame 882 4. Nebraska 881 Texas lost, the other three notched another win. Nebraska has a very good chance to move past Texas this season, and an outside chance to jump over Notre Dame.
  18. I prescribe lots of ice, elevation and a bye week for everybody.
  19. This is what we learned: Nebraska runs the quarterback sneak as well as anybody. A very quick and powerful push and Armstrong makes the most of it. Illinois is a tough team, especially the defense. They put some bumps and bruises on Nebraska (and got some in return). Riley is pretty bullheaded when it comes to fourth and short...good for him, I'm glad they are working out. It sets a tone for the whole team and especially the offensive line.
  20. ...and this controversy gets settled like it does every year for teams playing in the Big 10: Whichever one isn't hurt.
  21. I see Valentine got his first sack in the NFL...not a thing of beauty, since he fell down first, but maybe that makes it a little more impressive? It's the fourth video from the very top: http://nesn.com/2016/09/patriots-cardinals-film-review-new-england-won-pass-rushing-battle/
  22. How much lag is there if you watch the game with the sound off and listen to the radio?
  23. No "Air Armstrong" this year, please.
  24. I'm glad that Nebraska has a lot of good wideouts to take up the slack. It's always surprising during the season to see threads go from "Who should get the most playing time?" to "Who is left that can play?" So far, this hasn't been Nebraska. but the season in the Big 10 has just begun.
