  1. Its a safe bet to anticipate there being some turnover and kids that are currently on scholarship opting out at the end of the semester. I dont expect Collins Okafor to be a husker next year.
  2. Cotton and Evans might be asked to grey-shirt but not walk on I would imagine.
  3. don't forget moore. he should get serious playing time next year. i forgot about pensick and the fact that guy and rome arrive early, so i agree that we should be set at DT. zoogie - taioloa (or whatever) is indeed on the OL, though i think he's had some injury issues. Ooops!!! thank you dylan. I almost forgot a pretty good one in Moore.
  4. "Going in a different direction," could mean a number of things. It could mean "we dont want you anymore," it could mean "there will be some staff changes," it could mean "our offense isnt going to look anything like it has in the past." None of us were there so we are going to have to come to our own conclusions.
  5. To be honest the more I think about it I am going to give him a pass on this one and here is why. Watson told Tyler that "NU is going to go in a different direction offensively." Tyler is one of those kids that wants to sling the ball 40 times a game. That most definately wont be us in the future. Therefore he is going to go to a place that he will be able to sling it on every down like he wants to.
  6. This is laughable. I'll give you that Gilmore hasnt seemed to have done his job; but Cotton? Nobody knows. He was not provided with the guys on the OL that we needed to be successful. They have been banged up all year and we never were deep on the OL at all. Whenever two true freshman (Sirles and Qvale) walk onto campus and are possibly in your best 6-8 linemen from day one you know you have a problem. They were both said to be in that two deep rotation until they both got hurt. About Carter, with what I have heard with the direction of our offense it wont require a guy with his particular skill set. I dont blame him at all for looking elsewhere and I am glad he did it like a man and just flat out said it. He didnt leave us in limbo like TG.
  7. White was a back up plan to say the least. A walk-on spot was said to be suitable for him. Its very possible that either Guy or Rome could play as a frosh. They will both be here in a month so that is a plus. But our cupboard is well stocked at DT IMO. We have... Crick-enough said Thad Randle-underrated, CP said he has the quickest feet of anyone he has ever coached Steinkuhler-Should start next year Cole Pensick-havnt heard much on Cole. But I will bet you that a frosh will get an opportunity to be that fifth guy.
  8. If something does stem from this we can poach Monte Kiffin off that staff and we will never give up another first down to anyone.
  9. He will be here in January which will help him tremendously IMO. Lets let Dodson and the staff decide what they want do with him.
  10. I wouldnt read too much into it. He said that he was very anxious to get on campus and start. He also said on his visit that he thinks that NU and the Brothers Pelini can get him to the next level.
  11. this. This was going to be a defense heavy year anyways because of the number of kids we have on the offensive side of the ball that are on scholarship.
  12. We could use the pitch that we are moving in a new direction and that Tyler Gabbert no longer fits the mold of what we want at QB.
  13. And if we go back to power football like a lot of people say we will I bet this will increase our chances ten fold. Because he likes running with a FB in front of him.
  14. There was a Texas guy that was posting on the rivals board before the championship game that said the battle for Aaron Green is a USC vs NU race and he is said to be an NU lean.
  15. The original rumor on another board was that there was a juco HC that was coming to NU's staff after the season and he was bringing two of his players one of which was committed to another school. So since Fort Scott sent us two one of which was committed to another school; it has started people wondering.
  16. When he gets film in to be evaluated by rivals.
  17. this is a post i put together in another thread, but it seems applicable here: i don't want to trash our guys, but i would say the following players left by the previous staff are what i would consider "quality": murtha slauson mike smith hickman williams jaivario the following still have potential to be quality: caputo (walk-on) marcel the rest are just guys: dj jones mike huff andy christensen barrett so, they left us with 6 quality linemen. SIX! it's our bad luck that of those 6, two were seniors and the rest have struggled with injuries this year (with jaivario being obviously the biggest blow). the 2007 recruiting class netted us exactly TWO linemen total: jaivario (stud) and marcel, a project that still needs more time in the weight room. the 2006 class had the following: nicks cruz barrett victory haines ricky henry (didn't qualify, resigned in 2008) hickman williams dj jones mike smith (recruited as a defensive end) giving us a juco that was pretty good for one season (nicks) and THREE quality high school linemen in smith, hickman and williams - a good class. from what i can tell, callahan's ONLY good class of OL. the 2005 class had the following: pasteur picou picou roark giving us exactly ZERO quality linemen. not exactly an impressive record of success in leaving us a "stacked" offensive line. yes, they appeared to have some good ones lined up for the 2008 class, but who's to say they would have stuck anyways, given the sinking ship that was cally's last season. This. Maybe Barney isnt the guy. Maybe he is. We really dont know yet because again our line wasnt deep this year and we had injuries. IF from that 2008 class we would have gotten Hoch, Givens, and Robinson we would be in pretty good shape. Hoch starts at MU; Givens at CU; Robinson at ND.
  18. A lot of people said the same thing about Ekeler and Papuchis. But that seemed to work out didnt it?
  19. Give Barney a break. Our OL was the walking wounded all year this year. The cupboard was bare towards the end of the Callahan experiment. Two freshman in Sirles and Qvale are said to have walked onto campus and immediately been in the two deep rotation. Whenever that happens to an OL you know that they lack depth. But I am sure a former NFL lineman knows nothing about the OL.
  20. I'll do you one better. Here is Hardrick's video
  21. Carl Pelini was with him for a year at Minnesota State in 2004.
