  1. I think it'll be tough to keep RG44 for his senior year.
  2. Well, UCLA told him to name his price. So I'd like to hear another reason other than we can pay him a lot of money because at least the last time he was seriously approached, he turned a lot of money down.
  3. This is me saying its a forgone conclusion he would have been better. Alright.
  4. Next time, try it with a "you're correct". Its not my fault you tried to make a know it all point about Taylor Martinez improving this year when he wasn't injured when in actuality that adds up to 35 minutes and 58 seconds of a sample size. "It's unfair to say that TMart wouldn't have shown improvement in this category this year when healthy in my opinion." Where did he say he improved based on a SSS? He said its unfair to say he WOULDN'T have improved if healthy the entire year. He didn;t say it. He doesn't have to. he said "Taylor Martinez has improved on this year when he wasn't hurt" The only game he wasn't hurt was the first game. Nebraska had the ball for 35 minutes and 58 seconds. He played the whole time. Every other game he's played in, according to everyone, he's been hurt. And yes, its unfair to say he wouldn't have improved. But it's an unknowable thing, let alone a straw man argument. But he didn't say that. He tried to make a blanket statement, and I made a flip remark because that statement was stupid. Holy crap Point to where I said that it is a forgone conclusion that he would have improved.

He said its unfair to say he WOULDN'T have improved if healthy the entire year. It's fine. Anyone actually reading the thread can tell I really didn't say anything outlandish from my standpoint. So next time NUPolo, try it with a "I disagree with your statement. When I tried to pick apart your comment it didn't work and I wasted my time. I may as well shoved my face into an entire crate of eggs."
  6. Any reasons to believe Chris Peterson would have any interest other than we could pay him a lot of money?
  7. Hopefully we can find a spot for Joe Ganz on staff. No thanks, I would rather have a coach that has experience developing QB talent and not a volunteer/grad assistant. We already have a complete lack of experience on this staff. You're probably right. Joe is going to have a ton of options this next off season if Watson and Beck get head jobs. You can't possibly attribute some of the improvement TM showed from his sophomore to junior year to Ganz and Beck. It all goes to work with Calhoun for a week other than the guys he worked with all the majority of the time.
  8. Nah. Just trying to end the conversation with you.
  9. Kiper said (As per Sam's article) that RG44 should return for another year. I agree with him.
  10. I read your post and it wasn't really anything worth responding too because it's basically the same things you usually jump to. I absolutely was all over CJAX earlier this year until Leroy decided it was his spot and not CJAX.
  11. That one game was good. Is it unfair to say that a four year starter and a returning all-big ten player wouldn't improve? No, absolutely not. But that's not what you said now, was it? And I question how healthy Taylor has been since Mizzou 2010. Last year was last year, sure, but that injury completely changed the trajectory of his career arc, and probably Bo Pelini's too. It's almost 30 for 30 worthy. K

  15. I disagree, with 2003 Nebraska, Oklahoma, LSU, and 2009-2010 Nebraska as my evidence. Where Bo seems to be lacking is sharpening his players into mental and emotional consistency in preparation for playing football. I disagree, with multiple lapses on defense, 6 of 10 worst defensive performances all time, multiple blowouts, players throwing their hands up looking confused, countless numbers of times hearing of talented guys not getting time due to the mental aspect of the scheme (CJ being the latest victim), countless times where either adjustments were not made or players were not able to execute it, and a Head Coach who as of the last two years has almost seemingly said himself he doesn't know why the guys aren't executing what they are coaching. If the HC says, we are teaching them and they just aren't executing it, is that not by definition something being lost in translation somewhere? It is the definition, thats rhetorical question. I'm trying to be polite about it bud but if you want to use your positives over the last few years to counter my point, you will realize there are just as many negatives to come right back with. CJAX isn't playing because Alexander and CC have been playing very well. Deal with it. Maybe CJAX is the next Thenarse.
  16. The improvement from 2007-08-09 is great. But he's been here 6 years....to me he can no longer call on the Cally days as an excuse or a benchmark for his performance. He's no farther today than he was at the end of 08', and he's certainly behind the 09', 10' teams. It's gradually gotten worse each of the last 3-4 years. Whether you want him here, or want him fired - it's hard to deny the team as a whole is not progressing in the right direction at the moment. We have ZERO special teams...how can a coach completely ignore that side of the game? I can't remember the last time we put even a marginal amount of pressure on a punter. We don't have a D that creates turnovers, we have an O that commits a ton of them. It's going to be hard to win games with those glaring deficiencies. And it's not something that's been an issue for a single season. This is a core staple of the Pelini era, things you can count on week in, and week out. I'd say that we are much further along than we were after 08. Sure th wins are about the same, but we are much more rounded as a program now than we were then and many of Bo's younger guys are getting opportunities to play. The pieces are in place. The unfortunate part is that we got beat by a team that had no business anywhere close to us on Saturday and you can basically attribute it to a freshman QB being a freshman QB and showing immaturity.
  17. Madison would be more enjoyable if their fans weren't as dumb as they are. I have no issue with hostility, but coming from people that don't know anything is rather annoying.
  18. What happened after 2010? Callahan's best recruits graduated, particularly effected the defense. The "Callahan's recruits" argument is no longer valid. Since 2010 we have brought in better classes than he ever did.
  19. This board seems to be in love with the idea of finding Nebraska's Brady Hoke: 1) Knows the culture 2) Gets the fanbase 3) Wins the games he should 4) Had head coaching experience 5) Great with the media 6) Signs five star athletes 7) Doesn't really lose by a lot when they do lose
  20. That is the key in my opinion and our staff has worked hard to do what I call "out-evaluate" the other coaching staffs. Very much agree. This is how we got, and will hopefully continue to get, the Abdullah's and Moss'. Moss is a very good example of our staff finding him from looking at the Peats and projecting him accurately. Kid had only played like 10 football games in his life before he signed with us.
  21. because we dont have 35 committs in July made up of severly underevaluated hot dogs who have yet to even play a snap as a senior in high school, and have been promised the world, half of which will probably decommit and go somewhere else by signing day anyway. I dont pay much attention to recruiting. But enough to have the common sense to know what's going on. This staff puts a lot into evaluation. We cant afford to miss on guys like we did int he '09 and '10 classes anymore. That's why the inseason part of recruiting is slow time. Coaches are evaluating how seniors perform on the field. Then we make the push after the season's over-starting now. but you'll never get the haters to understand this. Again, Bo has my flustered on many accounts right now. But his recruiting, and vast improvement within, I cant find anything to be upset about. Some ignorant folks just want those stars so we can be on front page of Rivals or Scout. f#*k that sh#t. That crap's a bunch of manipulated bs anyway. I lost most of my faith in rivals when they dropped Adam Taylor to a three star kid. Since the end of 2010 when we were able to bring in Lavonte David and Kenny Bell I have really not found anything to be angry at. The one that stings Is Peat. Andrus would give us another tackle that would be starting IMO.
  22. I suppose that's fair, I mean, we certainly aren't at a complete want of talent. But it's hard to compare how good these guys are with the top teams in the nation considering the conference we are in is absolute garbage. I figure, we need to recruit at a top level so that we can win those bowl games and big non-conference games with top teams. Not being an ass, but what is the measuring stick for recruiting?
