  1. Football wise I think both Kansas schools would benefit from going to the MWC, where it's realistic that they could get 8 wins consistently, instead of the couple years up, and the years down. Outside of Utah, Air Force, BYU, and TCU, who could beat either Kansas team consistently? Of course the best case for them would be the Big XII staying alive (even if the conference loses a couple teams, NU/MU most likely).
  2. It sounds like McKewon is a guy who likes the Big XII and is wondering wth happened to make it practically obsolete in less than 2 weeks. I'd say up until this commit to the Big XII or die thing that Beebee produced, there would've probably been a really good chance that Nebraska would've stayed in the Big XII. Now Nebraska isn't necessarily pushing back, but they know that they are in a position of power. But I think he's right, a few snippets from the media, and suddenly it seems no one wants anything to do with the Big XII outside of schools that have no where to go (the Kansas schools and Iowa State along with either Baylor or Colorado).
  3. My guess if the SEC does expand they're first going to look at FSU and Miami and add in 2/3 of Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, or Clemson, and they'll have their 16. I'm guessing if that happens the Big East and ACC combine to get a conference that could still be considered an AQ. Wouldn't be surprised in that situation of the strong Basketball schools make up a conference for them, or what the Big East was proposing an all Catholic conference or Basketball only schools form their own conference. In that situation the Big 10 would add ND, NU, MU, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, or another Big East team. The Pac 16 includes all the Big XII schools besides Baylor (who would really benefit from being in a non-BCS conference athletically, probably not financially). Baylor and Iowa State go to the MWC, but I could see Kansas and K-State going to Conference USA (a better basketball conference), or they could go along with Baylor and Iowa State to the MWC. Who when they bring in Boise State will enhance their profile to become an AQ conference. (MWC could also poach Houston for the 16th team) I don't know the MWC is awfully close to being an AQ, and they've at least been as strong as the Big East in recent years. So for the AQ conferences will be the Pac-16, MWC, Big 10(+6), an ACC/Big East merger, and the SEC. What the BCS does after everything settles, I don't know, but it's very likely some form of playoff comes from it.

  5. I like the way the US played today against Australia. Wasn't their sharpest in the defense, but I think Buddle asserted his spot beside Altidore next week against England. I liked Findlay, but he just couldn't finish. I think the team that started today is going to start next week, except trade Goodson for Onyewu and Findlay for Altidore.
  6. NU holds the trump card in that if the Big XII wants to actually have a legitimate championship game, the Big XII needs to keep Nebraska in the North. Nebraska really is the only big money winner out of all the North teams. I'm with a lot of people who think that this Pac 10 thing is a bluff to learn exactly what Nebraska wants to do (reaffirm it's commitment to the Big XII, or are we just sitting and waiting for a Big 10 invite). If the Big XII doesn't get the commitment from Nebraska, could realistically see the Pac 10 bringing in those 6 teams. But whatever may come I do not see Nebraska getting left hanging out to dry, we make too much money (4th behind only Texas, Ohio State, and Michigan idk but I know we're ranked 4th nationally) athletically for a major conference to not snatch us up.
  7. I think it was right for Selig to not rescind on Joyce's call and give Gallaragga his perfect game. I'm all for the call being changed right then and there, like if they were able to take the time to look at it and get the call right right afterwards. But to spend the extra day on it, don't think that'd sit well with me, especially since he faced one more batter afterwards. Joyce missed the call, but until the MLB implements some type of replay system for specifically these types of plays, then you have to accept some things. You don't have to like them, they're just going to happen.
  8. I think ISU would be a great fit for Conference USA, if everything goes down in realignment as expected (Pac 10 gets it's 6 teams, and Nebraska and Mizzou go to the Big 10). I think in that situation, Kansas and K-State end up in the Mountain West with Baylor and Iowa State going to Conference USA. Maybe even Baylor going to the Mountain West, I don't know but th Kansas teams, Iowa State, and Baylor are going to be in panic mode.
  9. It looks like College Football Live is going to go over bad calls today because of the terrible one that broke up the perfect game yesterday. Saw the K-State face mask, don't know how much they are going to show of it though.
  10. I think the closer the BAL gets to .2 the worse things are. He was barely above the legal limit and made a poor decision on where to take a piss. Add to that his bad luck at even being caught (because again how many kids are out doing the same thing at the same time). It just seems like something to get completely bent out of shape at when Rothlisberger's getting out of a rape charge only because they can't determine consent because the girl was past the limit to where she could give consent (in legal fiction) with only a 4 game suspension (you know Goodell's going to drop the suspension to 4 games). If anything Paul should've been suspended last year when he got his DUI. This is the type of thing where you run his ass off until he can't stand or do anything for a month outside of just going home and passing out.
  11. This is just a rehash and reassertion of things we've known for a while now. Nebraska doesn't like playing second fiddle to Texas like they are now. It wouldn't be that bad if some of the things Nebraska's wanted done had gone their way over the years (talking about all of the 11-1 votes). But they haven't so it's really not a surprise for Nebraska to look towards the Big 10. Sure by moving to the Big 10 we're on the bottom looking up, but there's a very real possibility that in a couple years Nebraska could get into the OSU/MU/PSU triad of power in football (Iowa's been too up and down to be called in that, no matter how down Michigan's been). It's not necessarily Texas controlling the conference, it's the fact that outside of Missouri it seems like no one cares. Texas talking about starting up a Longhorn network and all they hear around the country is how it's a good idea from everyone not involved in the Big XII. And Beebee hasn't said anything about it. If Beebee really wants to put on a show of solidarity, he needs to stand up for the rest of the schools and stop bending over for Texas all the time. He needs to start with telling Texas that they can't start a Longhorn Network unless they package it with the rest of the Big XII schools.
  12. I think that's one of the biggest things that will make the Nighthawks successful in Omaha, the ability to get well known ex-Huskers on the team. That and keeping the ticket prices down to around what they are now (60 bucks for season tickets I think is pretty good). Keeping it accessible to the high school and college kids looking to go on a date, and also the families that want to have a good time with their kids.
  13. Who are we behind for the positions we are ranked 2nd in the conference, and who's ahead of the DBs nationally?
  14. Keep the seating between 90k and 95k, we don't need more than that.

  16. Definitely someone to look at for next year.
  17. I'm of the opinion that unless a kicker is in the top 5 in the nation, you don't offer him a scholarship. It's a position, that while important, isn't as important as other positions (namely QB). Sure a kicker can become a great weapon, but who else besides Henery has been able to change the flow of games. Add to that we already have 5+ kickers and punters on the team.
  18. Davies doubled up, winning the 200 too in 21.95. Evans was second at 22.05
  19. 6-3 in a great defensive battle, not because of crappy offense.
  20. I've pointed this out a couple times, but it seems like Brooks was just hit with a great deal of bad luck this past year. He get inserted into the line up against TTech and has like 5 catches for 70 yards or something, but he ended up hurting his back bad enough that he had to sit out a couple weeks towards the end of the game or during practice the next week. Then by the time he got healthy Pelini had pulled the strings on Watson's offense and they only used Paul on pretty much every play. But I'm wishing a whole heap of luck on him to succeed with the Bucs.
  21. Add in a connection to the Gerhart's also, small world.
  22. Everything comes down to the fact that it looks like Texas is going to run another conference into the ground and it seems like no one who's in position to stop it cares because they've already hitched their wagon to Texas. It's the reason why Nebraska and Missouri are seriously considering jumping ship, Texas controls too much in the Big XII and things aren't looking any better for the North teams.
  23. Problems come from the fact that in the pods in the first post ND would probably prefer to have Michigan as their out of division team. I'd vote Penn St. or Rutgers.
  24. Going back to the first guy, who I think provided really equal pods, have 1 team outside your pod designated as a team you play every year, no matter what. So Minnesota can play Wisconsin for the Ax every year, Missouri can play Illinois, and so on. Giving you 8 conference games (you play your pod + another pod for 7 games).
  25. Iowa has the greatest chance to becoming a rival out of the current Big 10 schools. If Missouri comes with us then they're going to be our biggest rival, kind of like now. But I think a game with Penn St., Ohio St., Michigan, and possibly Notre Dame are more intriguing than any other Big XII game we have now outside of Oklahoma. There's too much hatred and lingering resentment to develop into a true rivalry like we had with Oklahoma.
