  1. Sport's science is playing the episode with college drafts people. Though I'm pretty sure we've seen these already.
  2. Only positives I can see for Nebraska is the fact that outside of Tech there will be little to no competition for the Conference and by extension the BCS berth.
  3. Brooks looked like he was going to start stepping up and be the second guy behind Paul, but then he hurt his back around the TTech game (in fact I think he had something like 5 catches for 70 yards in the Tech game). Then by the time he was ready to come back we were very vanilla on offense and only used Paul most of the time. Brooks just never had the chances to become something this past year. He got buried in the depth chart when Gilleylen and Holt were playing great in the non-conference, then got hurt when he was starting to come on.
  4. Hoping that the Vikes can get Clauson in the second round (or more picks to shore up a number of positions). Need to get a DB tom, would like a QB but it's not 100% needed yet. Need an O-lineman tom too, maybe UMass's massive G/T.
  5. Well maybe they don't have to trade down now. I'm also high on Kyle Wilson, if they can get him it'll be a good day. But right now I'm looking at Clauson with the first pick as the QB of the future, we definitely didn't expect him to drop this far so if they can grab him at 30 do it and I think we're set up for next year (if Favre doesn't come back) and we're set up for the future anyways.
  6. Minnesota trade up to get Clauson. I don't think there's a 1st round lineman still on the board, and there's a db in round 2 you can get.
  7. Anyone else see Suh's suit commercial? If they can fit Suh, they can fit you.
  8. Does having the first 4 picks in the draft say something about the Big XII conference?
  9. There's also the fact that NFL lineman can focus on football 24/7/365 if they want (they won't but they'll put more time into it than a college lineman can). They don't have to focus on school, just on improving their own strength and technique. Suh won't be as dominant as he was last year for at least a couple years because it seemed like he used his bull rush most of the time. But since he's very coachable, and since he's very good with his hands and leverage, he'll still be successful.
  10. Cody Green may have been inaccurate on his passes, but he made sound decisions all afternoon. I don't think I saw a pass of his that was forced to a receiver or could have been picked off. Martinez had two of those types of plays (one was picked, the other was dropped). I'll say it again, I don't want to go into the season with Martinez as the starting QB. At this point in time he's a better role player. While Green is inaccurate on the short throws, he seems to throw a really good deep ball (see his pass to Paul, and his TD). I don't think that type of play is something we want all year, but if Lee goes down I fully expect Green and Martinez to split time.
  11. I don't think they'll name the whole weight room after Suh (but it depends on if someone else put more money towards it), but I'll guarantee if they do build an agility room they'll put Suh's name on it.
  12. Martinez made the mistakes that Green made last year. Forcing the ball to someone who he had no business throwing too. I really do love his athleticism, but his decision making while throwing kind of makes me worry. At this point I want the bowl game Lee starting, with Green backing him up if only because Green's already gone through the freshman jitters, and Martinez coming in as an extra rushing threat.
  13. Anyone else notice us using formations right out of Florida's playbook? We ran the zone read really similar to the way Florida does, and we also ran a formation with the TE lining up right behind the tackle.
  14. One thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of coverage this story has on ESPN. Seeing as this is something that could greatly impact future top ranked draftees, I'm surprised that ESPN hasn't jumped on this at all.
  15. Freaking amazing story. Nice to see some insights into Suh's past. Very funny ending
  16. Green was more impressive passing then Martinez, but Martinez is by far the best running QB. Martinez had 2 throws where I was shaking my head, his INT, and the one where he threw it up but it looked like he threw it to Gomes more than his intended receiver. He looked more ready to run over pass, not a bad thing, but maybe not something that the coaches want all the time. Give him another year and it looks like 2011 will be a great battle, but right now I'm looking at Green as the #2 with Martinez right behind him (in fact I expect to see Martinez to get more playing time running the wildcat, unless of course Lee gets injured, then I see Martinez and Green splitting time). While Green didn't do anything really impressive (besides his TD pass), he didn't do anything bad. He misfired on some passes, but none of his throws were in danger of getting picked. He made good decisions, but he needs to show more before I'd be anywhere near comfortable giving him the ball as the starter.
  17. I think huskermax.com is the same as huskerpedia was.
  18. I didn't see anything that tells me that Martinez is an equal passer to Green. Martinez had a couple of throws that he had no business in throwing (one was intercepted, and the other one should have), while Green wasn't lights out, he didn't do anything worse than what Lee was doing last year. He overthrew a couple of short passes, but both of them were in places that were only catchable by the offense. Martinez is above Green as a runner, but Green is a better passer. I definitely like the possibilities of putting Martinez in the backfield with both Lee and/or Burkhead, but I wouldn't be comfortable with him as our starter. (Of course I'm not really confident in Green either, but he showed me more in the game today) Paul was a man today. Kind of worried because Amukamara got burned a couple times (though it was only by Paul), so it's either Paul has really improved his game, or Amukamara was off today (I'll go with a combination of the two).
  19. I fully expected the tickets to cost more. Thought 20 bucks was at the low end, but I think it's going to be okay.
  20. Freaking England has 4 different divisions of professional soccer. Why can't the US support a small scale football league that helps develop players for the NFL? Sure college football is huge over here compared to college soccer over there (pretty sure if you go through youth leagues and you get signed to a team once you're good enough, no matter the age (though younger players just have their rights bought), as opposed to going through 3 years of college ball before being entered into the draft). But 4 different leagues of 15-20 teams each is the reason why I think the UFL can survive as long as they don't get too greedy and understand that the league will never challenge the NFL and it's main purpose is to develop post-graduate talent (of all ages) for the NFL. I can see the UFL working, but only if they keep the number of teams to 8-12 in number. 2 4 team divisions or 2 6 team divisions. In the 4 team division you play your division mates twice (home and home) each and play every member of the other division for a 10 game season (alternate home and home every year). For the 6 team division, play every team in your division twice plus 4 of the 6 in the other division which cycle by 2s every year. Think that's a perfect set up. Too many teams provide too many players, and makes it less likely that a player will get a call from an NFL team. Too many people dilute the talent too. We want top competition that's very similar to the product the NFL produces (of course there's going to be a drop off, it just better not be too big).
  21. The biggest challenge will be can they get people in the seats when it's the middle of football season here. Sure it's the middle of football season for every other team in the UFL too, but they are in places that have the population support. If they make the tickets affordable, and something a high school/college kid could go on a date to, then I think it could work. It's high quality football, but for less than what it'd cost to go to a Husker game. Then again, Omaha did have a Minor League (one step below NHL) hockey team a while back that got dropped. Maybe the difference in popularity between football and hockey will be the difference. Also the ability to sign a couple of popular Huskers still vying for a spot in the NFL (Swift would be a big pick-up).
  22. I know the NFL has a rule where only 2 players can be less then 2 yards from each other (in effect making a two man wall). That's a good rule because it's probably going to result in less concussions. But the taunting rule was terrible when they proposed it and it's terrible now that they're going to utilize it. My guess is that it's going to be revoked when a touchdown is brought back in a big rivalry game (or a game that involves either Alabama or Florida losing because of this, or Notre Dame, or USC). Sometimes I don't think the Big XII really gives a crap about it's refereeing. Sure they'll get a majority of their calls right, but then they'll miss a ton of obvious holding calls (especially last year with Nebraska, how many holding calls were called against our opponents when we were facing a South team?).
