  1. I think what we did in the Holiday Bowl is exactly what Nebraska wants to do with it's offense. The Zone Read with a good smattering of straight ahead power running. There's been too many injuries and too little depth at the o-line to not take a wait and see approach.
  2. Florida Tennessee is probably going to get the nod. Urban is going to come back from his leave in August, so I think there's going to be plenty of time for them to bring up the Urban/Lane feud. I'd rather have Gameday come for the NU/Texas game than a relatively meaningless game with Washington.
  3. I don't have a problem with NU and other BCS conference schools scheduling lower tier non-BCS, just as long as they schedule someone who's going to be in the top 25 to counteract that. But you're right that they shouldn't be playing any FCS teams unless they are top tier (you know the Montanas, Appalachian States, and Richmonds). Nebraska's schedule next year came about because that would've been the last year on Callahan's contract and Pederson thought he needed some layups to guarantee he got another contract. But after next year I really don't see a problem with Nebraska's schedule in 2011 and beyond. I know we got a 2 and 1 deals with Fresno State and Wyoming (who's a middle of the road MWC team, the best non-BCS conference). We also have a traditional power on the schedule for at least the next 6 years, no problem there.
  4. Nice to see some clarification from the NFL, now here's hoping that College people do the same thing.
  5. There's also the fact that having him be uncomfortable for a while will ultimately help out his chances to get a big enough pay day in the NFL to be able to help out the family even more. Out of all of his final 5, Nebraska has the best D-Line coaches and by far the best defense. The only downside will be the fact that there's a lot of competition at DE and he might not get a chance to play, but if he's as good as we're expecting, then he shouldn't have any problems.
  6. Does this game legitimize Boise's year? They definitely proved that they were the better team, but do you put them at #2 when the final poll comes out? I think you do, while Florida had a great game against Cinncy, they played a team who's style has been proven to do bad against the best competition. Add to the fact that I really don't want the SEC to go 1 2 this year if Alabama wins the NC game. Man here's to wishing if something like this year happens again in the future (2 non-AQ teams with undefeated teams) they don't put them in the same game and put them against teams that will make the games mean something and not be a kiddie table bowl.
  7. Maybe Locker wants to go back to improve his own game? Right now isn't he mostly being projected as a top 10 pick because of his potential? He has a really good Coach at UW to help him develop his skills further, no point in him not going back to make himself more likely to succeed at the next level.
  8. SEC and Big XII are the two best, Pac 10 and Big 10 second, ACC third tier, Big East and Mountain West are in the last tier. Because no matter how good there top 4 teams are (TCU, BYU, AFA, and Utah) the rest of the conference just doesn't cut it with the rest. It's been pointed out that the Big East needs to lose it's Automatic Qualifier, but I think instead of that they should give the Mountain West on of the at-large spots. It seems like the past few years that at least one Mountain West team has made a run at the BCS, and I think at least one team was in the 10-20 range or better. Give the Mountain West an Automatic Qualifying spot and it'll be easier for Boise to jump into the BCS yearly without too much whining like what happened this year with TCU and Boise where if Nebraska won the Big XII there was a good chance the Boise wouldn't have been invited.
  9. I don't think that there would be too much of difference if Nebraska had beaten Texas and we'd have played either team. Watching both offenses Moore (BSU's QB) and Dalton (TCU's QB) have both looked jittery. Moore can't hit a pass over 10 yards unless the guy is WIDE open and Dalton is just playing bad. One thing is that Nebraska's defense is way more physical and it seems Nebraska has a faster defense than both TCU and BSU. Overall the game hasn't impressed me so far with the only points coming off of an easy pick 6.
  10. About the Boise game I thought it was more because if we added Boise to the schedule we'd be running the same kind of gauntlet that Miami did early in the year where they faced like 3/4 teams that were ranked. The schedule wouldn't look pretty for us, add to the fact the other reasons and I don't think we'd look to them for a game with them anytime soon.
  11. See him doing the same thing that Suh did last year. There's a draft scout company that evaluates you and rates where you'd go and gives you info on the draft and everything. It's like a step above what regular scouts do in giving them information. At least I think it's something like that, don't hold me to it if it's wrong.
  12. I think what we did during the Holiday Bowl is exactly what the coaches want to do with the offense. Add to the fact that Lee's arm injury severely hampered what we could do on offense (once it became clear that Green was a freshman QB) and changed it to fit with our strength (riding the defense). As long as we can get some depth on the line and some consistent WR and QB play I think we can look exactly like we did in the Holiday Bowl next year against top competition (with various degrees of success depending on the opponent) and not just against the Sun Belt.
  13. If she looked like Janet Reno I don't think we'd be seeing her all that much because she wouldn't have the job she has now. I don't really have a problem with it either. Sure it's objectifying sex, but when she's knowledgeable I don't see the problem.
  14. I thought Herbstreets biggest gripe wasn't the fact that the 95 team was in the final, it was because the 71 team had beaten teams he thinks they had no reason to beat. After that I think he was mostly anti-Nebraska no matter what.
  15. I'd look to see if he could redshirt next year. While Lee wasn't the best this year, that might've been because of his elbow injury that he fought through. Add to the fact that we have 2 players that redshirted this year for depth next year. I say if he isn't the clear number 1 heading into next year, don't play him in garbage time and see if he can redshirt.
  16. I was a lot more vocal during the Nebraska games this year. Probably because I watched all the ones that I could on my big screen alone and didn't feel embarrassed at all to be doing it.
  17. Sorry for the DP but completely different topic. Why is Tebow still in when the score is 44-17 with 8 minutes left? I know it's his last game, but you put him in for when you kneel to get his last curtain call, not for him to drive down for another touchdown. I don't know if it's classy or not, but it's something that doesn't sit well with me.
  18. Similar game to the Hawaii/Georgia game a couple years ago. A team that got by against weaker foes by outscoring them finds they can't score against a top defense, and since their defense has played awful for a while they can't seem to stop Florida's offense. BCS dropped the ball on the match-ups this year. Oregon/OSU was a good game, this game would've been better with either TCU or BSU (more likely TCU), and the Fiesta Bowl probably would've been better with either Cincinnati or Iowa against the other non-AQ team.
  19. I didn't really have a problem with Asante's celebration against Oklahoma. I thought it was clear that he didn't know that he had actually hurt the guy, he was just celebrating a hard hit on someone he expected to pop right back up. How many times has something similar to that happen and the receiver just shrugs it off and gets back to the huddle?
  20. Paul coming up gimpy who's going to step up? Oh yeah Touchdown Nebraska
  21. I think it was more of a bad pass over what Gilly could've done with it. Add to the fact that he saw it late, which is why he fell.
  22. Holding on both Suh and Crick on that last play blatant too
