  1. Saw the Meat Puppets again tonight at a venue within spitting distance of Wrigley Field. It was billed as the Foo Fighters after show with 'very, very special guest' which naturally most people thought was going to be Dave Grohl. Well it wasn't Dave Grohl but rather the former bassist from Husker Du which was cool but regardless they brought it. Such a great f'n band. A good friend of mine taped their 2013 show in it's entirety at the Brooklyn Bowl. One of the best bar bands still out there.
  2. Ricky Simmons. After making it into the USFL and starting every game for the Washington Federals in 1984 he got hooked on cocaine the same year and ultimately ended up in prison. Both of his parents had passed away so there was basically no one who would be waiting for him once he was released. Then one day still incarcerated he received a letter from none other than Tom Osborne who he had not talked to in years and wasn't even sure how Osborne knew of his whereabouts. The letter read: "I fell to me knees right there in my prison cell and turned my life over to Christ," Simmons Says. Simmons left prison for good in December of 2009 and is now completely sober. He is now a licensed alcohol and drug counselor who runs an outpatient program in Lincoln. http://journalstar.com/sports/columnists/sipple/steven-m-sipple-inspired-by-osborne-ex-husker-simmons-back/article_706036e8-a024-576e-a054-94ea1e65995e.html
  3. I gotta hand it to you BYU. Y'all are some interesting cats. Umm...ouch?!! Ok break it up, break it up! Getting frisky hehe. Didn't work out so well. I seriously have nothing against BYU though. I just thought these gifs were funny. I can't wait for game.
  4. Haha. Your school is still in Lincoln Nebraska. Uh.. Is that a bad thing? Have you been to Lincoln, NE? It kicks tail. Coming from a guy who has lived in a few different parts of this country, I can tell you, Lincoln is a pretty badass little city. I don't imagine it gets much better than Lincoln on gameday either. Anyone who undersells Lincoln just hasn't been there before, that's all. Could I be chummy and admit I've been to Lincoln a couple times and thought it was nice and would be a good place to live? Sure, I guess I could. But in 9 days we will all be watching the game, so I'll just post this instead: What you posted on FB with pride: What all your buddies outside of Nebraska pictured: All your buddies know there is nothing in Nebraska. They all figured you must be really proud of your uncle Jed's pond or something. So the last time BYU football did anything worth seriously bragging about was in 1984 but despite that you come here to talk smack to Nebraska fans? A few years ago we put Sam Bradford out of commission for the rest of the season.
  5. I have no clue either. It's too early to tell. Lots of question marks but also there are as usual some reasons to be optimistic. Just one guy's take though. If Nebraska struggled more than some think they might with the guys they have now I wouldn't be surprised. Then again with a new coach they could come together better than one might expect too. One thing I want to see is Nebraska get better as the season progresses. Not so much the W-L total but do these guys improve as the year goes along? That's what I'll be waiting/wanting to see.

  7. Yeah I totally agree. The team chemistry is undeniable. The veterans and the young guys all seem to be on the same page and it's a great thing to watch. Joe Maddon has something to do with the team vibe too I think!
  8. Mark Wahlberg. Regardless of what character he plays in any movie he will always just be Mark Wahlberg.
  9. Four career receptions for a grand total of 13 total yards. Don't mean to knock him but he's not the best guy to catch out of the backfield, and some people at practice have said he doesn't look the most fluid doing it. Good to know. Probably not a good idea then to throw to him it sounds like hehe.
  10. Does Imani have any career catches? Even though he might get run down fairly quickly if the play developed slowly I think it would be cool to see the big man catch one in space sometime. Who knows.
  11. Kyle Schwarber. You can't hold him. You can only hope to contain him.
  12. All I can say is I would be less worried about the backups if I were in your shoes. TA has separated himself by a wide margin from the other QB's and that should be considered a good thing. Maybe he is what he is at this point and maybe he isn't, but, we won't know until the season unfolds. As far as the other guys go, hopefully, we don't have to rely on them too much this year. Most of them are still very young and it's not always easy for young guys to get thrown into the mix right away. But, I wouldn't get your hopes up about the group markedly improving come mid-season. Once we get into game week and preparations, the focus shifts from being purely about getting better to beating your opponent while getting better. Thats the thing, if TA has seperated himself by such a huge margin, what happens when we are forced into a situation where he is unavailable and it's on a backup to go in and start, or go in and win the game? At this point we'd probably be screwed. Then again if say Bush got in who knows. He could surprise everyone even himself. Or he could absolutely do the opposite. It sounds like Fyfe would be the next guy in line anyway. Totally don't know what to expect with Fyfe.
  13. Boy trips in museum and punches hole through million-dollar painting
  14. People are overexcited. And bad at counting. Or in a different time zone. I'm in South Bend IN currently for work...
  15. Nebraska will be facing some fairly good QB's this year. Taysom Hill right off the bat in the BYU opener. He was putting up some really good numbers last year until he broke his leg. Wes Lunt when we play Illinois although he doesn't have much of a supporting cast. Kayaa and then of course Connor Cook. Strange fact. Some former NFL QB's kin are on a few of our opponents rosters this year and both are...you guessed it... quarterbacks. Jeff George's son Jeff George Jr. is a freshman QB for Illinois. Also Koy Detmer Jr. is a freshman QB for BYU this year. (He's Koy Detmer's son and former Heisman winner Ty Detmer's nephew.)
  16. Matt Herian holder of the NU Single-Game Tight Ends reception record. (8 vs. So. Miss)
