  1. Personally I was never that big of a Quentin Castille fan. When I heard he was let go honestly I didn't give it much thought besides wondering why he was let go.
  2. This really sucks. I was afraid of that 'letdown' game with being undefeated. We are a better team than Texas A & M but we just don't have it together today. About 2 and a half minutes left now and were down by 18. Bring on the NCAA tournament. We're still going to be a number one seed and like what was said above I'd like to see us lose now than later. Go Lady Huskers.
  3. I think speed is always an issue whether it's offense or defense. We have adequate speed on offense but besides maybe Paul we have no one who is a threat every time they catch or run with the ball to go the distance. Again I think our speed is adequate I just wish we had 'that guy' who was a threat every single time he got the ball to break loose and pull away from people. I think speed is always an issue in today's world of college football.
  4. I agree with the speed issue also. It is pretty much non existant on offense besides Niles Paul who was really the only one close to being a game breaker last season. I thought Currenski Gilleylen might have been someone to get excited about last year but that never really panned out.
  5. The thing is MIKE, guys like Williams have never had to work hard for anything in his life. He got by on talent alone, so he never developed any kind of work ethic. In high school, he was the big fish in the little pond and probably was never pushed to any limits of his ability. When these guys get to Div I colleges, everybody on the team is either as good or better than they are, and for the first time in their lives, they have to work hard just to keep their spot. College football is full of adversity and some players just can't deal with it. He was also 18 years old. Immature as well.
  6. That is one heck of a backfield. I think Rex will get the ball more this season which will mean a little less wear and tear on Helu too.
  7. I had no idea the source was actually a blogger who was just twisting McCoy's words. I hope that blogger loses viewers and also hope that both McCoy and Suh do well at the next level.
  8. I cannot wait until the NFL season starts. I hope Suh destroys McCoy in terms of first year success.
  9. Can someone tell me why some of the scouts think McCoy is better than Suh? I don't remember seeing any tape of McCoy fighting through triple teams and making the plays that Suh did so consistently. Oh well. Let them think what they want. I can't wait to see where Suh lands...
  10. I think just seeing first hand some of the play calls he made this season convinced me he really isn't all that great of an offensive coordinator. Trying far too much in my opinion to give Zac Lee the ball on a called qb run plays. All but forgetting the tight end this season when the rest of our receivers were dropping balls and being shuffled from first team to scout team and vice versa. In the article he talked about having to play to your teams strengths. Personally I didn't think he did a very good job of this last season.
  11. Love to hear that!!! Cool story. Makes me think of how our defense seemed to never get tired last season too. That is awesome to hear!
  12. To beat Texas in regular season play would be just awesome. Hoping I can be there in person too. To beat Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, or any of the better teams at any time is awesome. We have yet to beat Texas in regular season Big 12 play... Beating all three goes without saying.
  13. To beat Texas in regular season play would be just awesome. Hoping I can be there in person too.
  14. Wow. I am really surprised at the negative Gill vibe going on in this thread. Buffalo won a combined FIVE games from 2002 through 2005 until Gill came along and all anyone can do is focus on his 5-7 record the year after his team won the MAC Championship. Gill is a born leader not to mention being groomed/mentored by our very own Coach Osborne who has been and still is a huge influence on him. I think a lot of parents will feel really good about sending their kids to play for him also. I wish Gill all the best. I think Kansas has themselves a true class act as their head coach.
  15. Thanks for the article. It's nice to hear we'll be trying some new things this year but I found it interesting that Shatel asked him if we'd be seeing more out of our fulbacks this season instead of our tight ends who weren't utilized nearly enough last year and were clearly one of the strenths of our team receiving wise.
  16. I know you are just predicting but I really enjoyed reading this! Good stuff!
  17. I dont mean to be rude but I strongly disagree. Cody Green will have this team for no less than two seasons. Don't worry about it. We all have different opinions. The cool thing is (hopefully) one of these guys in the near future will develop/step up what have you and hopefully become a quarterback we can rely on and maybe even become someone exciting to watch. Carnes is my pick easily (in 2011) but if it's not someone else's I definitely don't take offense to that. To me Green has a lot to prove next season coupled with Lee coming back healthy. Unless he makes great, great strides and Lee plays more or less like he did last year I don't see Green being our man next season. I want to see a lot of improvement out of Green but if we don't well... Either way GO BIG RED. I am glad we have so many possible options now at quarterback. Martinez, Spano, Lee, Carnes, Green, Turner (in 2011), Washington. My pick again is Carnes after this upcoming season but either way it is definitely going to be interesting...
  18. I couldnt agree more But looking to 2011 (if Carnes does redshirt next year), it looks like he has the intangibles to be the leader our offense needs. Check out this more in-depth article from today's OWH & you'll see what I mean. My fav part of the article... I read that too. The thing I like also is he did all of this in Florida's largest class so he's played (and practiced) against top notch competition. If Carnes can play up to his potential the job is his to lose after next season. I liked this part:
  19. The guy I am most excited about is Carnes. I can't wait to see what he can do. After that I really like Lavonte David, Jermacus Hardrick and Tobi Okuyemi. I know I'm probably in the minority on this one but the guy with a lot of hype in this class who I'm least excited about is Braylon Heard.
  20. Turner looks good but I'm still sticking with Carnes. Also the video is footage of a single game. Does anyone know who that was against? He definitely wasn't hurting for running lanes either. I respect your opinion and I think he's a great quarterback but Carnes made way to many plays under pressure with the pocket collapsing and consistently hit too many receivers on the run for me to ignore anyway. However may the best man win. Nebraska's in a win/win situation having these two guys on the roster. I take it you didn't watch the whole clip? It's 20 min. long and there are different games on there the longer you watch the footage. Just be patient. Yep. I watched the whole thing. One thing is for sure. Whoever becomes the starter down the road is going to be breaking down some defenses. Either way I'm looking forward (I can't wait) to seeing both of these guys.
  21. Turner looks good but I'm still sticking with Carnes. Also the video is footage of a single game. Does anyone know who that was against? He definitely wasn't hurting for running lanes and for the most part his offensive line was eating their def line for lunch. I respect your opinion and I think he's a great quarterback but Carnes made way to many plays under pressure with the pocket collapsing and consistently hit receivers on the run not to mention the plays he made with his feet for me to ignore. However may the best man win. Nebraska's in a win/win situation having these two guys on their roster. edit: I see after about 20 plays they finally switch highlights to another team. It looks like they replay the same play 3 times also.
