  1. ^ the only question mark that will never be answered in regards to Frank is if he was going to be able to recruit well enough to maintain the standard set before him. I personally don't think he was going to - so while he certainly turned things around I am guessing we would have continued down a similar path as the one Bo just led us on the last 7 years. Probably wouldn't have watched the bowl streak or other things fall like we did under Cally - but likely wouldn't have seen the success of his early years repeated either. As bad of a word has it is around here - "mediocrity" was an appropriate term to describe the path we were being led down.
  2. I'm just saying that even if they had escorted Tom out w/ campus police - throwing his sh#t out his office window down onto the parking lot below...he still would have given the same statement he just did. Everything in between that extreme and a giant parade in downtown Lincoln, with flags at half-staff and the city shut down would yield the EXACT same response. He's not going to stir up anything more over something that is in the past and already done.
  3. Do you think he would say anything different if it was actually true though? Tom was supposed to be around for a couple years originally. He ended up there for what...4 or 5? I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't given a little shove towards the end...and frankly I don't have much of a problem w/ that if it happened. This whole idea that Tom is some divine Nebraskan, is BS. He was a great coach. Everything else since then has been judged completely based on that success.
  4. I hope you don't give legal advice. Darren Rovell ‏@darrenrovell 33m33 minutes ago There is not a non-disparagement clause in Bo Pelini’s contract w/Nebraska that can affect his buyout. I've never been under a contract that had a non-disparagement agreement in it - but I've always had one in place. They are never in my contracts, always in the employee handbook or other things that I sign that are more "stock" to every employee. Things like the anti-harassment, code of ethics, yada, yada. So just because it isn't in his contract wouldn't necessarily mean he didn't sign other things that included it. While my contracts remain in place for multiple years, I usually have to acknowledge those agreements yearly and sign for them as they are modified.
  5. only Fisher was going to med school and Roach is going to be looking for a job...
  6. I'd imagine there was almost zero chance, with 100 kids and their cell phones...that the meeting was not recorded. Someone has something.
  7. So you guys are on a tangent about people bitching about Beck...in a Tim Beck thread? Bo Pelini has plenty of threads, Cotton/Garrison their fair share, and the defense just as many.
  8. No...but those teams also don't win crap. Hmmm MN and NW beat us with regularity. so teams with built in disadvantages were able to beat a team....with built in disadvantages. kinda proves the point right? (not that i agree w/ it) u guys need to argue k-state over texas, or something like that...
  9. I think a handful will leave but I doubt it will be in time for Riley to offset the difference before signing day. I still think it ends up around 20ish now, but my guess is Riley is trying to max out each of those spots. Surprisingly, the class is remaining fairly in tact, which means he only gets to bring in 5ish of his own guys in this class. He probably has a dozen or more that he'd like to get though. Especially at TE, a position he utilizes very differently than the guys we have on the roster were recruited to fill.
  10. class is small, Riley is fishing for numbers. handing out walk-on scholly's last year and year before to sophomores is forcing difficult decisions.
  11. (so you've identified the problem...next step is...)
  12. Here's what makes little to no sense...we've got a quote like the above. Then the author makes an inference that Nebraska had given Walsh a reasoning but Dillman didn't know what it was. Then they go on to say they just want to know why. Why not ask your coach...since it was obviously inferred above that Walsh had been given a reason, yet Dillman doesn't know what that is.
  13. he'll have a hard time going from 700k to 125k - dn't see it happening. if it does, that's pretty telling about the abilities of our prior staff.
  14. i'm shocked he didn't take a HS coaching job at 100k just to stick it to NU a little more...
  15. We said that about Watson too - I'd say there was an outside influence that was counter-productive to their vision.
  16. You almost need to subtract the 3 Cottons, or at least * them, who likely wouldn't have been here without the connection. Ott, Phillips. I'd throw in that Lechner (sp?) kid that went to Ohio - and the Cambridge wrestler. Hopefully Vick/Johnson don't prove to be recent misses, but I think they might.
  17. if so, i guess it's better than announcing to the defense we'll be pounding the rock, stop us if you can - then proceeding to either fumble the snap of have our OL steamrolled at the line.
  18. Maybe because they have 5 National Championships... well obviously. but my question still stands. Do 5 titles in a span of 14 years, in two different eras, and having been completely irrelevant for the last decade completely erase their almost entire history as a non power? I mean, you look at programs like Oklahoma, Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio St, Bama, USC, Texas. Those are traditional powers. Theyre almost always good going back through history. I guess that's my point. Miami just doesnt belong in that category. Theyre so come and go. you could probably throw out texas and usc based on that too though.
