  1. Doubt it. He took the crown of the helmet straight into his shoulder, it's probably just a deep bruise. Anybody who's ever horsed around and been punched in the shoulder just right knows how bad that can feel. Plus he wasn't showing any signs up until that play and he delivered quite a few blows before that.
  2. You kiss your mother with that mouth?

    Manziel

    We did. http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/64645-teamjack-super-thread/page__st__200
  4. This 3 game argument it ridiculous. Last year is last year, these are young guys they're only going to get better. Like I said before this season is probably going to feel a lot like the 09 offense watching this defense. There are going to be headaches and there are going to be huge games it's all part of the learning process.
  5. A trap play! that was a previous NU favorite Yeah, that's basically what's happening haha! I hope we bust the trap out again this year, I think we ran it a couple times. Once against USM I believe.
  6. He didn't want his practices giving the ex-players cancer? He was just looking out for them after all. Or vice versa?
  7. But doesn't only having 4 guys at the initial point of attack hinder the ability to stop the run when they're being blocked by 5 guys? Maybe I'm over simplifying things, but just seems like that is the root of the problem... I think you over simplified it. Stopping the run is really the linebacker's responsibility. In reality the linemen are essentially there to eat space and keep guys of the linebackers. If they can get off the block and make a tackle perfect, but the backers are supposed to fit to the gaps left open and make the play. Which is why when you have a tackle rush up field past the ball you're in deep doo doo. Now you have a huge hole and a free blocker. Obviously there's more going on than we are going to know, but that's the basics of what they're doing.
  8. I hear you Walks. But a lot of the big runs in the first half were do to poor gap integrity by the tackles and just poor play by the linebackers. In the beginning VV in particular was just bum rushing up the field and wasn't paying attention to where the ball was. He seemed to settle down in the second half where we only gave up 46 rushing yards. There was only on 9 rushes but the average gain went down as well, still an unimpressive 5ypc though. The QB runs were bad but I'm never really concerned about those unless you have someone like Miller, Denard, etc. You're going to give up big chunks to a mobile guy in the spread but we've proven in the past (Gabbert at Mizzou, Locker at Washington...) that we can live with that.
  9. And they didn't. Q was all over them whenever we threw it high. He played amazingly. He had a hell of a game. I loved Turner's TD didn't see it in the stadium but rewatching it Martinez knew exactly what he wanted there. He probably should have looked him off to start with but he knew he had the TD from the minute he audibled.
  10. There had to be a lot of stuff missing because most of the game Wyo was primed to get burned on PA. 7 and 8 in the box with single high safety, there's no way they could have stopped us vertically if we took a couple shots.
  11. I really don't give a carp. Yes the lack of 3rd downs is disgusting but when we did get them there we were dominate. It's the first f'ing game. We can all go pout and bitch about how we've given up 600 yards the last three games, or we can realize it's the first game with a young vanilla defense against a pretty solid QB and things are going to go wrong. We have another tune up game left before we should really start pooping our pants. If anything this is probably the best result we could have asked for. There's a lot of film to learn from now. We'll see if they're really students of the game or not, because the talent is there it's just down to the execution again. imo.
  12. Are you being serious here, because that's just false? He's being serious. But he's using hyperbole. Let's just go one day without taking everything 100% literal. Read between the lines. So everything a joke then got it... Let's all be facetious today!
  13. Are you being serious here, because that's just false?
  14. I also forgot that Wyoming did A LOT of cut blocking, that really neutralized our push up the middle.
  15. Maybe a dozen times out of, what, 78 plays? The vast majority of the time it was the same ol' patty-cake we've grown accustom to. I've only rewatched the first half but we actually had pretty good pressure just rushing 4 guys. It was just a combination of things on different plays that let us down; either we played off coverage and he got the ball out quick, Smith moved around in the pocket well enough to buy time and get the pass off, or our rush was just uncoordinated and guys were hitting the same gap and running into each other. The newbies on the line pushed they're guys back almost all night, it's the salty old "veterans" that seemed to be struggling.
  16. I'm sorry I didn't bring my GoPro last night. I'm rewatching the game on BTN2Go right now while I do some homework, I'll let you know when I find it.
  17. It was on display a few times last night, but they usually had Foster back there.
  18. From my seats the athletes look fine. It's the coaching that's the problem. This looks like the best D athletically that we've had since 2010 IMO. I'd say it's about half and half at this point. Bo's admitted they caught them in some bad call which is for now is probably the coaches fault, but there we quite a few plays where guys just bum-rushed and didn't keep their heads up and play smart. The inexperience showed last night. But even the true freshmen can play at this level, which is really impressive.
  19. Bo was asked about it at the post game press conference and before the reported could finish he blurts out "He's fine!" So he's probably going to need an amputation, but the good news is it's his left shoulder.
  20. He didn't throw anyone under the bus. More than one player has said Beck likes to talk openly with players about what plays/calls they like and don't like so he can throw them out or play to their strengths.
  21. It was very vicious but you can still play that way and be within the rules, which Gregory was. I think it was just small conference refs not being used to big time play. Chalk this one up there with calls like Gabbert's forward progress, Suh's Slam, etc.

    Manziel

I honestly almost like Manziel. Yeah he's a douche but he can be a prick, party it up, and then back it up and in my book that get's some respect. Plus it's kind of refreshing to see somebody give a finger to the the establishment every now and then, and it's also nice to have the antithesis of Tebow after all these years as well. I love how ESPN is trying to tear him apart with a 2 minutes clip of all their "analyst" pouting about how he's poison and what not. That being said the NCAA is still a joke, but you can't blame Manziel for that. He's just smart enough to get around the system like so many others.
  23. He looked pretty effortless out there. I'm impressed.
  24. Love me some melt downs!

The awesome meltdowns are my absolute favorite part of this board. We have some hilariously predictable retards to enjoy. Game on!

It's amazing. I mean I'm disappointed about the game, but some individuals are quite entertaining on here.
