Right now warren nolan shows Nebraska at 39. With exceptions of Minnesota (86) and Michigan (124) the remaining schedule is against all top 75 teams. This team is still going to lose games, but if they win series' and get 2 or 3 next weekend in Omaha, they could finish with a very respectable RPI

I have no doubt Arkansas as a team is very good, what I was trying to say is the team that showed up on Tuesday was not a top 25 team. They booted a lot of balls and had some horrendous ab's.

Comments like this drive me crazy. There are only 100+ or - 4 to 5 star kids every year. There are approx. 350 D1 BB teams and there are 12 or 15 teams that will take 50% of these kids because of BB tradition; now that leaves 25% for kids that stay close to home and the other 25% are available for approx. 100 teams. The key is to find the kids who fit your system and teach. Yes, it would be nice to get a 4 or 5 star player every other year. Its not like we have that kind of talent in Nebraska and when we do we need to get them to stay home and play. I said temper expectations, the new guys aren't 4 and 5 stars. You said that statement drives you crazy. You then explained to me that Nebraska didn't get any 4 or 5 star guys. It drives me crazy that people think we can not win & be competitive without 4 & 5 star players. Your statement eludes to that belief. You can absolutely win with them. I'm saying it's extremely hard to win with them in the first year. I expect them to be very solid in a couple years, I'm simply saying that next year they will be very green and are going to suffer growing pains.

I'd like Vucetic to redshirt (rather have him leave unless he's serious about eating and weights) but I don't think a RS is a good idea for Benny. His best option is to put up shots like crazy all summer long. Sure a RS season would give him a chance to develop a better shot, but there's not much more he can work on. He's not going to grow 5 inches, he's not going to get a lot quicker, and 3 years I would hope we have good enough guard depth that a guy like Benny would have a hard time finding PT. His best shot is to work his ass off this summer and be a great contributor and fan favorite the next couple years.

No. Save the scholarship. This guy has Vucetic written all over him. I hope Miles understands the fan base is fine with him holding scholarships back from marginal players in order to better evaluate and put more time in on future guys with greater chances of success.

I would agree with your comparisons if you're talking about athleticism. If you're talking about skill set, it's hard to say as we have never seen the new guys play a game against a big ten opponent. (Edit: the following statement is not directed at Big Ern, it's a general statement) Don't say you've seen them play against B12 or SEC cause Pitchford didn't play and I highly doubt anyone watched an entire Texas Tech game and was focused on Petteway. If you're talking about experience it's no contest. You're comparisons would be dead wrong. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not (I certainly don't) Dylan Talley was an incredibly reliable PG the last half of the season. He did some stupid stuff but he had to, there weren't many options around him. David Rivers was pretty solid when he decided to play D (which was rare). No one will ever give you more effort and intelligence than Ubel. My point is, the raw ability and potential coming into the year is astronomically higher, but experience and development is going to be so far below what it was last year that we are going to see far more inconsistencies and more losses in tossup/favored games. That's how inexperienced teams work. I think at the end of the season you'll see much more potential/promise for the future, but probably pretty close to an identical overall record.

Keith Law ranks Ryan Boldt as the 13th best prospect in the draft. It'd be outstanding if he ended up here, but that won't happen. Recruiting is my biggest area of concern for Erstad, hopefully he finds guys with that right mix of ability but too raw to be drafted high.

I was very down on this team, but am changing my mind after the past week. I don't put a lot of stock in the Arkansas games, because that team was bad. There is no way that's the 12th best team in the nation, and if they are the players obviously did not come ready to play. What I do put stock in, is the way Bummer and Kubat emerged. With a winnable series this weekend and next weekend being out of conference play, these guys have a couple more weeks to really get buckled down. IF (big 'if') they get settled in, Nebraska suddenly has 3 solid starters to go with their blossoming offense.

This team really needs to go 3-1 in the next 4 (don't think they will, but could and need to), and with Creighton sitting at 57 and OSU at 60, that RPI should continue to climb. Edit: After OSU is Arkansas currently at 39. After that, you have Rutgers and Indiana otherwise everyone has a horrible RPI. That makes this stretch of 6 games extremely important.

I completely agree. However, we're 27 games in and this has not happened. Not once. Even the games they've won, there have been stupid mistakes or major lapses in at least one area (pitching, fielding, batting, base running). If they're still that inconsistent this far along (basically halfway through the season) then it's probably a pretty safe bet it's not going to happen this year. Hacker- I like the optimism, but I just can't see it. The ONLY hope for the Arkansas series is fans realize it's the only "big time" baseball they'll see at Haymarket this year so they pack the place, as in attendance record, and it amps the guys up just enough to pull one out of their a$$es in the bottom of the 9th.

A sweep would be nice, and is probably necessary. It's obvious this team is not very good so they need to get every win possible. I'm guessing they'll be swept by the likes of Indiana and OSU, so they need to sweep these poor teams to stay alive. I really hope they bring in some talented pitchers next year, cause this sucks.

Now has an offer from OU and getting interest from Iowa, MSU and Minnesota. This kid seems to be on the upswing, hopefully Miles put in enough work early on that he has the inside track.

This team does not show the same mental toughness as their coach. It's never just one error or one guy struggling at the plate. As soon as one man fails, the rest of the team crumbles. It's time one of these seniors steps up and says enough is enough, we need a play and I'm going to make it.

Webster has Olympic/international experience. IF we sign Atewe and either Sai or Leslee we will be practically 10 deep. Sai has a year of experience in the B1G. We went 5-13 this year correct? 3 more Conf wins gets us to 8-10. How is that not pretty dang close to a bubble team? Now if we don't snag some post help I agree that it could be another long year and it could be rough. But IF we snag a couple more bodies in the paint we will be a NIT team and on the edge of a bubble Again, appreciate all this enthusiasm, but gonna rain on the parade. Just ask Jeter, Walker, Talley, etc. Petteway - you are correct, played some significant minutes in the Big 12. Pitchford - you can't count him as experienced. He played a total of 22 minutes on the season. Webster - should be good, but he wasn't exactly dropping 30 on the US And as for practicing together all year - that certainly helped, but they were running scout team. Completely different playing against an untalented starting 5 in practice than playing in a real game with people watching.

Iowa finished 9-9 in conference play, with a similar non conference record, but only got a 3 seed in the NIT. Hardly considered as a real bubble team. Iowa's noncon was horrific. NU's will be nowhere near that bad.

Visiting Wednesday. This news coming right after Miles' visit with Atewe makes me wonder what Atewe told him. Maybe he wasn't a lock like many thought

I get the feeling people are expecting way too much of next year. The team will be much more fun to watch and will be vastly improved in depth and ability, but that doesn't necessarily translate into wins. They will be inconsistent and will more than likely have some games where they look just plain bad. Let's remember these aren't all high-4 and 5 star guys.

Love the optimism but completely disagree. The guys coming in have great potential, sure, but they're all inexperienced. Even the transfers sans Petteway. Who do you think had more talent: the team Miles will have next year or the team Calipari brought in this year? They didn't make the tourney in a much weaker league. The team's talent level will be so far beyond what we saw this year, but due to inexperience they will be extremely inconsistent and will probably only have a couple more wins. That's how college basketball works.
