  1. It sounds like we all agree that Michigan sucks. Can we get a Michigan sucks emoji on this site?
  2. Change or improve? Just imagine how cheap higher education would be if it hadn't changed over the last 100 years. Improve? Well that can be up for discussion but most improvements cost money.
  3. If this happens, can we honestly just put the Huskers in the B1G title game for lawyering up and going after the B1G
  4. I don't know, I think enrollment numbers are important to schools but things like retention rate is just as important. A strong majority of students and faculty/staff want in person learning. If schools switch to remote learning, they will have a dip in retention. Also, at most brick and mortar schools, it is not really any cheaper for the university to go online only. There are still expenses that need to be paid and sometimes even more expenses to educate students. That is why it is hard to refund any money for switching to online only. If you want to have a discussion on why higher education cost so much to begin with, I think that could be discussed in another thread.
  5. Are you saying that on-campus students won't get a refund for room and board? Most universities refunded students a prorated amount for room and board when they sent them home in the spring. I think most schools are trying their best to figure out how to keep kids on track to graduate on time.
  6. Again, NCAA != CFP. The NCAA has moved all their fall championships for D1 to the spring (this includes vball). BB is a winter sport and they will determine the winter championships at a later date. The P5 schools made this mess for football long ago. They could have actual NCAA championships for FBS but the P5 schools and conferences are greedy.
  7. Prior saliva test are massively inaccurate, but the Yale saliva test is supposed to be very accurate (>94%). https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.08.03.20167791v1
  8. To be far, most were complaining about Nebraska wanting to play in another conference for the season. I have only seen OSU players and coaches wanting to play a B1G schedule. I think there is a difference between the two responses.
  9. That's fine. I am more surprised that people listen to his podcast.
  10. He reported about the Smith situation at OSU and his accounts were much different than ESPN and others. I really don't know how trustworthy he is, but you can read about his reports by searching for Jeff Snook and Zac Smith. Just seeing the two names together doesn't really remind me of good times.
  11. This thread went off the rails once the names Jeff Snook and Zac Smith started showing up in this thread. Now it is ok to trust these people?
  12. Is that a bad thing? Do you not want schools and administrators to be liable for their actions?
  13. I think Ohio will find out today if they can play contact sports this fall. A HS usually only has kids from your own town and you are playing kids from surrounding towns. If a HS needs to cancel their season because they have an outbreak, it isn't a huge deal. A college has people from all over the world coming to one location, if they have in person classes at the time, with individuals living in close proxmity to each other. Then you are traveling to another state, staying in hotels, and playing another college. If a school needs to cancel a game or a season, that is a big deal. I don't know...it seems really different to me.
  14. That was all talk by Delany. They were never going to go to a D3 or Olympic sports model. The B1G defiantly cares about both academics and athletics.
  15. Just admit that you don't understand how endowments work. It isn't a big savings account that a school can spend however they like.
  16. This is really great for testing mass amounts of people, and it still is really new, but we really need to see what is going to happen on college campuses before we start thinking we could have played games. I bet there will be many more medical advances before the end of this year. There are colleges that have already had students on campus for more than a week. Let's see how some of these schools handle the first month and see where we are. My guess is, even with mass rapid testing, we will see outbreaks on teams in the fall. The SEC will change their tune if Alabama or Georgia have starters sit out because of a positive test.
  17. The problem with someone setting up a go fund me account is there is no real oversight on how that money was dispersed. Crowd funding is ok if it is done right, the original post in this thread would be an example on how not to do it. Now, if you want to setup a webpage with links to local businesses, city, and UNL crowd funding/giving pages. That would be one way of making sure the people that you are supporting are actually getting the money. If the gift was to a non-profit, you would also get acknowledged for the gift (privately and/or publicly). The less layers and "administrative" costs, the better.
  18. Just donate to UNL athletics directly. https://huskers.evenue.net/www/ev_huskers/ss/ev/DonationEntry?donationCd=DAY-BY-DAY&siteId=ev_huskers&locale=en_US&linkID=huskers
  19. You aren't. At least I don't think Ohio State fans think you are a villain. Welcome to the B1G, for some reason the media likes to beat up on B1G teams. I just take it as you are relevant enough for the media to talk about. I also wouldn't put too much into what media members like Howard and Wilbon say about you, they crap on OSU all the time too.
  20. Urban has been saying that for a while. If we have spring ball, especially if all the conferences move to spring ball, then I don't think we will see a typical fall 2021 schedule. It will probably have less games and a later start date. It will also be interesting to see when spring football would actually start. The earlier the better.
  21. The NCAA doesn't sponsor a FBS playoff, so they really don't count when it comes to whatever the conferences and the CFP decides. Clemson and other schools are saying how they want to play in the fall. I bet they change their tune if their starting QB or any of their best players have to sit out because of COVID. Look at the MLB, they are having to postpone games due to outbreaks on teams. If a professional league is having problems, why do we think that we will get through a season of college football without problems?
  22. So the ACC, Big12, and SEC are going to try and play football? I understand the CFP is not a NCAA sponsored event, but if multiple teams from the ACC, Big12 and SEC start testing positive and they have to sit out games, it is going to look really bad.
  23. I don't get why you guys are so mad. My team actually had a shot at a national title this year.
  24. You may get to play OSU without their starting QB and many others opting out for the draft.
