  1. I think you would always have a home but who knows? I wonder what OU expects to gain from this move. Right now the Sooners have a clear path to the post-season or Sugar Bowl. If Texas left on their own and was replaced by UH, would OU think they would lose the Red River something or TX recruiting in general?
  2. Gold Medal in stabbing people. Keifer = ND undergrad, Kentucky med student Lee Kiefer wins third fencing gold medal in U.S. history by defeating defending champion - CBS News
  3. Hello Jessicafanwini Just Kidding I was going to say it might be easier to reconstitute the Big8 of the 80s. And since in this hypothetical it is unfortunately a Big Seven without Oklahoma; add 3 programs from areas in which you want to recruit. Such as Big7 + Cincy/TCU/Houston.
  4. about 10 years ago I did something I had never considered. I registered onto a fan site of a school different from my own, not even a regular opponent, because the news said they were changing conferences and breaking from 100 years of tradition. thought I should warn them that the grass was not always greener on the other side. I didn't actually think the University bigwigs were reading, but that would have been fun. Eventually there were two other schools with cool fansites that I read semi-regularly. Now both of them are doing the same thing. I guess I will once again cry out in the night. Why do they give up their farm house for a more swanky complex of condominiums
  5. ESPN was sharing UT/OU with what's left of FOX. Mickey already has 100% of Clemson.
  6. Flugar's known as an Infotainer on the CR chats. There are three of them that tweet out just about anything that will draw attention. I have never understood the logic behind these articles. Clemson has never had as much fiscal revenue as Alabama nor the northern blue bloods that the Cacti beat resoundingly. Also Disney owns the ACC (+much of ND's) media rights for a generation and no major conference moves happen without the Mouse's approval. So a major CR move from the ACC teams is neither necessary nor feasible.
  7. Looking forward to the narrative, UT couldn't beat TCU and fled the Big12. Vandy screams ACC to me. I'm surprised they didn't go with the Southern Conference in that early 20th Century schism.
  8. The enmity between ND and U of Michigan goes back at least 100 years to the days of Knute Rockne and Fielding Yost. The Big10 is perceived as a big 2 + the others. There are a lot of other justifications such as peer institutions, recruiting exposure, and independence. But I think it boils down to the ever boiling rivalry between the two schools. Disney seems like the most to lose if all of the valuable college football enterprises bundled their media together and sold it ala the NFL. But they are constantly herding schools into a fewer number of larger conferences.
  9. Lifetime is my go to for Science Fiction's Where Are They Now? Yeah, I guess the Huskers were right all along. Texas can't seem to join a conference without looking to leave it.
  10. I don't know why people think bigger = better in forming an athletic conference. But like everyone I noted the ND NBC contract went about as long as the Big12's media deal to 2025. I thought that meant bargaining would be hearing up soon. Apparently it is partly over.
  11. It seems to have been leaked only after the dust settled on the expanded playoff.
  12. Pretty much. We get to appear in the same places without having to move into that SECtion of town. A newfangled Big8 would be a lot easier for NU to win. The question is can it be a viable power conference without Oklahoma? Or, can any school be added to the Big10w that would make your division seem less like the 'other' part of the conference.
  13. I am confident that Texas A&M will remain in the head of ever University of Texas fan. At a time when it should be hot news, the Horns board is an endless stream of anti-Aggy trolling.
  14. Maybe because the SEC doesn't have a singular Michigan or UNC who is clearly in charge? Or Texas thinks it can displace Alabama/Tenn in the way they overpowered NU/OU.
  15. Frost is running that QB centric system that worked so well @UCF. It has been a while since you have had a very dangerous quarterback. Was it Crouch? I am not even sure who was quarterback back in the Callahan era when both teams scoring in the 50s.
  16. In 2000, NU beat ND in OT. We trudged to 9-2, thinking we had a close loss to the BCS contender. But then NU dropped one to OU. I wonder if that team was better than the one that played the 2001 BCS horror show, and therefore Solich's best team and likely better than any since. oh did solich run a pure triple option? As in the fullback doesn't know if he is getting the ball until the QB releases it?
  17. Solich was 2-0 vs ND and at least one win over Penn State (2012).
  18. One major reason college students are very liberal is that they are not paying the taxes themselves that they loudly advocate for other people. One minor reason this just can't last is that young newly minted athletic celebrities will be speaking out at Uncle Sam's cut. Self Employment tax anyone? University Deans will not like seeing conservative weeds in their annual crop of woke leftists
  19. Let the sponsor beware. But also the sponsee. It won't be very long before a college student athlete is told to keep quiet about his opinions or get dropped and cancelled.
  20. I am wondering what it will take to provoke string action. In another era it took a minor school (SMU) buying talent on the territory of a major one (PSU). I guess maybe if the University of Texas loses a Signing Day Surprise to an Auburn, for an obvious NIL Auction, the NCAA and US Congress will discover that this is completely out of hand.
  21. When I heard the NIL debate I thought they were talking about getting paid from one's YouTube or whatever. I didn't know it meant getting directly on a company payroll. I don't see how this could be anything but a bidding war for talent. One of many messes will be a recruit's star rating. It was messed up enough before. Now an additional star means thousands of dollars in his pocket. U know the boosters, err I mean business owners are going to shell out for the 5*s.
  22. What is this other than a bidding war for college football talent? Is this really what you want?
  23. Rumors on foreign boards say you cannot fire Frost until he wins 9 games.
