  1. I'd be suprised if Clemson gets into the Big 10. I'm betting Clemson will be one of the first teams that the SEC picks up. I'd say Baylor would probably be left out. The only way they'd be accepted somewhere is if they are accepted as a package deal with the other Texas teams. Kansas will go somewhere because of their basketball program. I'm not a big basketball fan but I do follow it somewhat. But hasn't Louisville been having a decent basketball program lately. Plus thats a decent market to get into. So I don't think they'd be left out either for those 2 reasons.
  2. Was CU really a rivalry? I more seen it as a series where Colorado played mediocre all year waiting to play us. With most games they might push us for a couple quarters, with sneaking a win buy us once in awhile.
  3. I'd be really surprised if the Big 12 stayed together and kept the Mega-conferences from being created. But if that does happen and we go to 9 conference games. Will they just add another game or will we go from 4 to 3 out of conference games?
  4. It was Christian Christian Christian. Gotta Love Him. and it went 90 yards. The play didn't stand though. Even though it was clearly a fumble the ref blew the whistle and ruled Kresser down by contact. Thanks I knew it was one of the Peter bothers. That explains why huskers.com doesn't show him with a td as a stat.
  5. I'm wondering if part of the hatred is coming from when Nebraska and Iowa were in the same conference. I can't remember what it was called but it did split apart. Part of it become the Missouri Valley Conference and The other became what was knows as the Big 4 i believe that grew to Big 6 then Big 8. I know that was a long time ago but hatred could be passed down through the generations much like Ohio and Michigan which I believe started with the battle over Toledo as both states wanted to claim that area.
  6. Ok someone help me here cause I can't find out who or the yardage. I think it was one of the Peter brothers more than likely Jason ran a fumble recovery back in a bowl game and high stepped it into the endzone. Depending on the yardage I think that play should be nominated to as it was a big body running it back untouched and finished with the highstep lol. I have found videos on youtube but I can't make out the player or the yardage.
  7. Another thing you might want to look at is 3D. If you have a 3D tv i know the playstation 3 does have 3D games available, I don't think the 360 has that capability. If your tv isn't 3D then either system would be good.
  8. I'm in with team name Raiders. I was team 8 to sign up we still need 2 more.
  9. I still don't understand why... They more or less declared it was illegal to 'accidentally' fumble the ball and have the guard pick it up and run. I agree with some of the plays we've had lately how can they tell if it was accidental or not lol.
  10. After watching the fumblerooski i'd love to see that added to our playbook again.
  11. Are you still talking about his neck? lol
  12. Again, you don't seem to understand that there was no great feeling of harmony in the Big 8. The Big Ten was and is a completely different kind of conference than the Big 8 and Big XII. You keep trying to imply that Nebraska and Iowa State were these great buddies walking arm-in-arm through life when it was more analogous to a business arrangement than a friendship. There was no animosity, but no great love either. And that's on both sides of the relationship. It's not as if ISU and their fans have ever cared that much about Nebraska. Mostly they've always considered us like the bully on the block - at least, through my lifetime anyway. There was no friendship, no chumminess. They're not sad to see us depart just as much as we're not sad to go. I've never said one thing about Big 8 schools being great friends and I'm not trying to imply anything. Stop making it up. In fact, I've never even said the Big Ten schools are great friends. What I said was, they love being part of the Big Ten conference and they generally respect each other's institutions if not their sports teams. I'm trying to learn more about how the Big 8 operated and how it fell apart and I'm getting some conflicting opinions. As for Big 8 harmony, Hercules said the old Big 8 was just as tight knit as the Big Ten. Other posters said their was a lot of mutual respect in the old Big 8. Maybe you disagree but their opinions sound a lot like the Big Ten to me. Maybe they're wrong, I'm just trying to learn a thing or two here. What I meant was that all of the schools of the old Big 8 were just as tight-knit (in terms of athletic departments, not academics) as the Big Ten. The thing that makes the Big Ten seem more tight knit is the power structure and the revenue sharing - those programs aren't competing with each other off the field nearly as much as the Big 8 programs were. Even with that said, the Big 8 was perfectly stable by itself, and until the formation of the Big 12, I don't think anybody wanted to leave. However, what you HAVE to realize is that when you say "Big 8," you're talking about a conference that ceased to exist 15 years ago. Just because all of the Big 8 schools moved into the Big 12 does not mean anything. I think just about all Nebraska fans miss the Big 8 conference, but that happened a long time ago, not over the past few years. If you can't understand that the Big 8 and the Big 12 are ENTIRELY different entities, you're never going to understand why Nebraska fans aren't that broken up about leaving now. You asked in another post about if the Big 12 would have lasted longer if they had setup the divisions better. It's possible it would have lasted a few years longer - Nebraska might have stayed if we had a protected crossover with OU or were in the same division as them. That would have made it harder to leave. However, I think Colorado would have gone to the PAC-12 no matter what, I think Missouri would have still been begging for an invitation from the Big Ten, and the possible departure of both of those schools, along with Texas and company looking to form the PAC-16, would have forced Nebraska to look at its options. Nebraska fans are perfectly happy to leave the Big 12, we didn't like that conference, but we also weren't the ones that started this. Missouri wanted badly to leave, Colorado did leave, Texas threatened to leave and destroy the conference, and Nebraska jumped off what it thought was a sinking ship. I don't think different divisions would have changed any of that. At the end of the day, the other poster who said that Texas is the key, nailed it. They're the curse on the Big 12. The conference won't exist without them, but their membership is also killing the conference. They will either end up independent, or in the SEC16 or PAC16, where they won't hold enough power to kill off the conference, like they did with the SWC and are doing with the Big 12. Thank you. I understand how different the Big 8 and Big 12 were. I greatly underestimated how much politics drove a wedge between the old Big 8 members. It seems to me things might have been different if the old Big 8 members had stuck together and stood up to Texas. It's really kind of sad it had to happen like that. I'm still concerned about how quickly a solid conference like the Big 8 turned on each other. If it could happen to the Big 8 I think it could happen to the Big Ten. Should we be careful about adding a Notre Dame? I personally think moving to 14 or 16 teams would be a mistake. I think a lot of the reason the conference turned on us was at that time we were basically the big dog on campus. When we went to the Big 12 the other schools seen a chance to side with Texas another big program to help knock us back down to their level. I'm not saying the other schools were jealous or anything I just think they wanted to compete and seen a way through Texas. Adding Notre Dame or anyone else if done right I don't think would be a mistake. There was a conference once I can't remember who went to 16 teams. Their down fall however was the complexity of their schedule. They had 4 divisions of 4 teams and would rotate which divisions they would play each year. If they did it more structuarly sound and not confusing it would of worked and maybe still around.
  13. That touch down was awesome for 3 reasons. 1) It was for the National Championship 2) We blew out Florida in that game 3) I was watching this in SEC country surrounded by Florida Gator fans If they weren't my family, I wouldn't of made it out alive with how much trash talking I was doing lol.
  14. its weird. For me I dont really have a favorite, SEC or BIG10 should things collapse. I do know that MU has about equal in common with both though. MU has a very southern style campus and greek life. Alot of people think that MU's campus living and setup is more southern traditional than Northern. However, MU also fancies themselves with the acadimics of the big10. For all the things the SEC is, that is not one of them. I think most would be happy either way. Also long as its a major conference i think most would be okay. It would sure be different thats for sure, i am already a little freaked with this years schedule. I could care less about Baylor and TT. Its freakin weird not seeing a NU or CU on there. I personally would like to see Mizzou come to the Big 10. Because those battles we had as of lately were good hard fought fun games to watch. Was starting to get the intensity and feel of a rivalry with a lot of importance, a lot like how the Oklahoma and Nebraska games use to be. Plus it's a trophy game which the Big 10 loves lol.
  15. VA Husker Fan--Texas is the most valuable college football property in the nation per Forbes.com. Notre Dame is right behind them at #2. If #2 gets it, #1 will too. The BCS is all about the benjamins, baby. also to add on to matthew's point, the BSC is not the NCAA. its seperate and like matthew said, its all about money, lots and lots of money First off Fro good point earlier about how it would work for Texas. I'll admit I didn't even think of any of those reasons. As for Texas getting the same sweet deal that Notre Dame has, I agree I'm sure Texas will get it to. The only thing I can think would stop it, is if the NCAA thinks if Texas and Notre Dame can why can't anyone else. If other Universities do it then why have conferences why not everyone just be independant.
  16. I'm probably not a good citizen cause I do not watch the news or pay attention to politics. Cause every time I do I start to hear Charlie Browns teacher saying Wa wawa wa wawa wa wawawa. But I do like watching the Daily Show and even Steven Cobert. For those of you who do not like CNN, in the military we use to call them Communist News Network.
  17. Here are some of reasons why going Independent for Texas won't work: 1. who are they going to schedule in october and november when all the conferences are playing each other for a spot in the conference championship game? If you look at BYU and Notre Dame schedule they are basically playing military schools and WAC teams during that time. I have a hard time believing that a good school would want to play Texas late in the year. 2. Why play Texas when you can essentially knock them out? Sure they may have posted a perfect record but just filled with patsies they will highly unlikely of ever reaching the National Championship game again. 3. I don't think Texas would sacrifice going independent if it meant not playing in good bowls anymore. Texas isn't a team that would be happy to go to a lesser bowl that other teams are happy to play in. 4. Recruiting would suffer. Sure they may have BevoTv but good recruits are going to want to play in big games. Texas wouldn't be able to offer that. Texas forum posters and writers simply haven't thought it through about going independent. Oh I understand that the scenario I was looking at other than those reasons is WrongWhorn network being their downfall. Lets say they get what could be a good schedule. With say TCU, Florida State and maybe a Missouri like team at the end. Highly unlikely I know but lets say something like that happens. Those later games will be TBA at the beggining say TCU is undefeated but not pulling in the weight cause there are other teams in BCS conferences that are getting the talk for a national championship and having marque games that week. TCU and Texas would either be early in the morning or on Texas only Network. Florida State and Missou have a couple losses and doesn't bring in the national attention. With that type of scenario and I say again I know highly unlikely but if it did happen I don't see those teams aggreing to allow the Texas Network into their stadiums or if at Texas agreeing to it only being on the Texas Network. I see if they go independant the bigger schools will fight the network or not agree to play if it is not nationaly or regionally broadcasted on ABC or ESPN.
  18. I don't know about yall but i'm sitting back hoping the Big 12 splits. Just so I can watch Texas go independant and not get the success that they think it would be. I have a feeling if they do go independant they will try and have every home possibly some away games on their WrongWhorn Network. I know ABC/ESPN and them will pick up some national broadcast events, but not every game. So I don't see this working out the way Texas wants it to for the success they are wanting.
  19. Biggie. Your talking as if the Big 10 is a happy loving family that supports each other, the hatred on the field is just fun banter amongst fans. If thats the case than i'm even more happier now than I was yesterday at the fact we joined the Big 10. But in order to realize where we as Husker fans are coming from you need to see things through our eyes. We just got out of a conference that in a lot of ways was like a disfunctional family that it's only tv time should of been scheduled on the Jerry Springer show. To help you understand how we feel try to imagine this scene if you will. Say back when there was actually only 10 teams in the Big 10 and everyone got along and had mutual respect. Then when Penn State came in they tried to run things and be the big dog on campus and everyone went with them and voted against your school. Which ended up ruining the feelings and ties amongst the universities as they all now look up to Penn State. If you can understand that and imagine how you would feel, then you can understand how we as Husker fans for the most part won't miss much if anything of the Big 12-2. As that is exactly what Texas did and how other Universities turned on us. Now if this would of happened in the 90's before the Big 12-2. Then I'm sure our responses would of been much different. ps if there are any spelling or grammar erros, i'm sure there are. Sorry I've had little sleep lately.
  20. This is great news!! This could actually turn out to be very cool now, as long as they still throw the bones more often than they wave their hands, that is. I think it is a great honor to The Blackshirts to be able to show that they've earned a blackshirt. It'll be good for fans of opposing teams too, as they will now have a distinction between The Blackshirts and 2nd stringers.... I've always wished that they would have a Blackshirt helmet-sticker or something to that effect for the actual Blackshirs, this will do though. We use to have helmet stickers for the black shirts. If I remember correctly it was a coach who shall not be named in the previous era that got rid of them. But seeing how I was out of the country most of that time thankfully and can't remember much of it, so I could be wrong. Theres people here probably and i'm sure defenately could tell you when and why we got rid of those helmet stickers.
  21. Usually the new contracts are signed and ready to go into effect before the old expires. Reasoning for this so their isnt any possible loops holes for a coach to get out of the contract. Most of the time the coach is told in advance that their contract is or isnt gonna be renewed. Which I think is usually about 2-3 weeks before the new one goes into effect. So if i'm understand you right the new contract is always signed and done prior to the old expiring so the coach can't use a loop hole. Therefor the University doesn't have to post the job opening You sir have just made a new friend
  22. I'm already on it. I thought I would have some good news for everyone today. At 1:43 pm today a man in a work uniform showed up went to the front door with a clip board in hand. I was watching every move hoping it was the cable man.....turns out it was just the UPS delivery guy. Sorry everyone oh by the way for those who don't realize I was just here to
  23. Not to rain on anyones parade, especially since I want Watson go as bad as yall. But if UNL has to post each coaching spot up for hire even when someone is going to take the position already. Then wouldn't that mean when a contract is up but hasn't been resigned yet shouldn't the position but posted even though they are coming back. If thats the case then shouldn't all positions be posted after the contracts end. So technically Watsons contract end coming back but not signed yet for any reason but position has to be posted? Trust me I truely truely hope i'm not right with this thinking. I'm begging for someone to proove that theory wrong. Anyone please Knapplc i'm looking to you.
  24. lol I was to wrapped into reading the bid news thread that I didn't think of looking there.
