  1. The other schools dont really have an issue with recruiting out-of-state talent though. And our all Minnesota born roster tradition died when Luccia became our coach, though the vast majority of players still are Minnesotans.
  2. Hockey is one of those sports that you might have a good argument for leaving those teams where they are at, and if Nebraska, or anyone else decides to play hockey, they could do like they could have done all along and apply to join a division. Then again, the Big Ten could look at it and see there is more money to be made by creating a Big Ten conference for Hockey...and capitalize on the television revenue. I dont know about the other schools, but Gopher hockey games are televised, and while most of the games are on FSN, there are a several on the big 10 network. So creating a big 10 hockey division likely wont mean more revenue for Minnesota's hockey program, and, anyways, Minnesota actually makes money off of its hockey program. I know its the same for Wisconsin, and probably Mich as well
  3. WCHA is where it's at. Mich were a bunch of pansies and left, because they couldnt handle our awesomeness. Seriously though, if the Big 10 created their own hockey league, that would screw over a bunch of teams with some long history. I mean, Minnesota and Michigan each have like 5 division 1 schools that play in their division. The two Colorado and North Dakota teams also get boned in this scenario.
  4. Minnesota vetoes the Ohio division, and will veto any division alignment that doesnt stick us with Wisconsin
  5. pretty funny that the states that are close to Neb all chose Iowa
  6. Aren't they going to demolish that place? T_O_B Vikes still dont have a new stadium coming their way, so nope
  7. There's no way the Big Ten would ever split up Wisconsin and Minnesota. You don't cast aside Paul Bunyan's axe and a 115 year-long consecutive rivalry. Even if it's a forgone conclusion that we'll kick your ass every year Well, hopefully that will turn around soon with the help of our new stadium, haha. I challenge any college football program to survive playing off-campus in the metrodome. It cant be done! I mean, what recruit wants to play in that crap-bag?
  8. No one wants to see the championship played at the metrodome
  9. I will disagree with any division that splits up Minnesota and Wisconsin. If they want to split up Us from Iowa or Mich, then fine, but Ive always considered Wisconsin our biggest rival
  10. If the SEC added those teams, then they are a bunch of idiots. Those teams wont increase the SEC's market share and just make each team's split of the pie smaller
  11. I dont think the Big 10 is adding another big 12 team. I think they will be looking east. My dream scenario is Notre Dame/Rutgers/Maryland/Cuse. Thats a sick 16 team conference that lends itself to 4 pods quite nicely
  12. interesting idea, but you got your pairings wrong Mich-Ohio St Minnesota-Wisconsin Iowa-Nebraska Purdue-Indiana Mich St-PSU Illinois-Northwestern
  13. Id be surprised if UT goes North instead of West I'm by no means considering anything a "done deal". Just sharing what I've read, and PBC from WildcatReport.com has been on this since early May. The Big Ten is the better option. It terms of dollars and academics, but politically and geographically, its all Pac X
  14. i like that. that would be a great bball conference as well. Yea, its pretty balanced for both football and basketball. For the non-revenue sports you can ignore that and split up the conference geographically to save travel costs.
  15. I think Texas and their hanger-ons are going to the Pac X. My dream scenario would be Neb/Notre dame/rut/Maryland/Cuse, and then split the conference into four pods Pod 1 - Nebraska, MN, Iowa, WI Pod 2 - Illinois, Notre dame, Purdue, Indiana Pod 3 - Mich St, Mich, OSU, Northwestern pod 4 - PSU, Rut, Maryland, Cuse Pod 1 and 4 are obvious. Pods 2 and 3 can be shuffled around a bit.
  16. I dont know about that. I think Neb/notre Dame/rutgers/Maryland/+1, and that +1 being an east coast school, makes the most sense for the Big 10. If i had to wager, Mizzou is going to get screwed
  17. HMMM he said they are applying to the Big 10 not accepting an invitation?!? anyone else catch that. Thats how its done in the Big 10. The big 10 doesnt invite you, you apply. Im sure the big 10 told Neb that if you guys apply we will accept you
  18. I would think it would be completely silly to have us in separate divisions. So every year it is. I am kinda lookin forward to it. I have family in Dyersville, and they are a blast. Sadly, most are ND fans. Don't yell at me. I'm Catholic to and personally I don't care for them at all. So here's to an Iowa rivalry... They better be in the same division. Im looking forward to making the trip to Iowa City everyother year for the game. And when they come play in Lincoln youll get to experience how "passionate" Iowa fans really are. http://www.bittenandbound.com/2008/11/27/lois-feldman-fired-after-metrodome-sex-arrest-photos/
  19. ISU brings nothing to the table. No way do they get an invite
  20. Just think of the big 10 network ratings and subscription fees if that were to happen, not to mention absurd amount of money that the big 10 contract will command.
  21. As a gopher fan, Seeing UT and A&M in the Big 10 would just be weird. Maybe ill get used to it, but I like the idea of Neb/notre dame/rutgers/maryland/+1 scenario better. At least that scenario will have the big 10 still be geographically connected.
  22. they aren't. I think that is one of the many reasons that UVA is higher on the big 10 list than Virginia Tech
  23. yea, I would consider Syracuse the +1. I think the +1 should be an east coast team though, so that leaves Mizzou out. If that +1 is Syracuse, Pitt, or Virginia, then that would be fine with me
